Hi all, Rachel will be sending through the minutes from Monday's discussion but there are a couple of fairly urgent action points relating to the dance/dancers: 1) We decided that our second dance would be a 'round' (suitable for festivals), fast and complex (suitable for DERT) dance. We're going to try out a variety of figures and then see what fits together well. I'd particularly like to try and create new figures, or at least new variations on existing figures, for this dance. Please can you all have a think about figures you'd like to try out for this dance and a) email me a video of another team doing the figure or b) come prepared to teach the figure! 2) We decided that some people should learn new positions. If you weren't there on Monday can you let me know which, if any, new positions you'd be happy to try on the Julibee (nee DERT) dance and which positions you'd be interested in learning the second dance from? Can you also let me know whether you'd like to have a go at helping with teaching, tumbling, playing music or being a character? Please note that's it's not compulsory to learn a new position - if you want to stick with your original position in both dances that's fine! If you can send me your thoughts to these two points by the weekend that would really help me to plan the next practices. In general I think I'd like to split the practices so that the first half we have 2 sets working on the Jubilee dance - learning new positions and the tidying up points we implemented for DERT - and we spend the second half working together on finding figures for the second dance. EGM Agenda

Hi all, Please find below the proposed agenda for the EGM on Monday. Please all remember to bring your diaries with you - I will be chasing you for sign ups, especially for the summer, as I am now being chased to reply! Thanks, Rachel - - - - - 1. Apologies 2. Elect this meeting's Chair 3. Reading of Nov 13 AGM minutes 4. Quick 2 sentence update from those positions that feel it necessary (Ffion; Rachel; Jo; Sue; Lindsey/Laura; Hannorah; etc?) 5. DERT - what went well, what could we have done better? 6. Dance development a. Should we keep the DERT dance as is or change it? b. Should we write a new dance? More exciting/funky figures? Choreograph the whole thing first or learn independent figures then string them together? c. Should we learn a traditional dance? d. Do we want to learn the DERT dance from different positions? 7. Side attendance at festivals/etc - how high profile do we want to be? How many festivals per summer/year? 8. Side ethos - do we want to be friendly? Good? Well known? Approachable? One of the best rapper sides in the country? Do we want to develop the Tower Ravens "personality"? 9. Practical details: a. Should we buy more swords? b. Are we happy with the practice hall - especially size? c. What is the position on kit (Sue to update). Hoodies/tshirts, etc? 10. Side size - are we worried? 11. Sign ups please! 12. AOB

This morning my partner, Ted, said in all seriousness, "Why don't you contact EastEnders and tell them about your rapper dancing. Perhaps they would feature you in one of their pub scenes." I laughed, but he was being serious. What do you think girls - something to add to the agenda for Monday's EGM? Laura x

Crawl 27th March

Hi All We are meant to be crawling next Thursday. So... 1. Who's attending People confirmed so far are: Ffion (5), Jo (2), Laura S (musician/2), Janet (2), Aisha (3) Lindsey (1) , Sinead (4), Sue (Tommy/5) and me (4). This means we have one of every number if these people can definitely make it (& loads of 2s). Only issue is I can't make it any more as now have to attend a work event in Sheffield over the weekend, so will need Thursday night to pack & get ready. Sinead is down for 4 also, but would be good to have a reserve in case she isn't feeling tip top. Nic, you're a tbc, any chance you can make it? Other TBCs are Nikki, Becky, Laura F & Rachel (who is injured & won't be dancing). Ladies, are you coming? Laura - could you play solo if Nikki can't make it? 2. Next question - does anyone have any ideas for where we should go, & does anyone want to volunteer to secure the pubs? Locations suggested a few weeks ago were Camden, Southbank - Shad Thames or Oxford St. Although anywhere central-ish would be OK.
