Hello All,
Just realised that I can't make an event as Tower Ravens - so here is what
I have so far. The two grey ones are ones I'm thinking of adding. but
didn't make it to them/manager wasn't in.
Bree Louise - Maybe (was hoping to meet in this one, but not so sure any
more...) - perhaps the Grafton would be better?? Any thoughts?
Northumberland Arms - Yes
The Court - Yes
Fitzrovia Belle ?
Carpenters Arms - Maybe? Will hear back by lunch tomorrow - but might be
too busy as it's payday week
The Lukin - Yes (but not if busy)
Might be the George and Dragon ??
Green Man - Yes
Albany - Fine in principle, think they are going to confirm
Happy Tuesday!
Hannah
Hello all,
Apologies for my total failure to prepare anything to discuss yesterday, as you could all tell I was totally shattered!
1. 16th or 23rd September signup for ceilidh spot2. Northgate Birthday DoD 29th October, signups3. We declined the irish dancing spot4. Crawl this week is around Euston area, details to follow5. 3rd September London Folk Festival signups6. Staying over after Laura Ws wedding
1. Ceilidh spot (again for Will) this time at a pub very close to Tulse Hill/ West Norwood on the 16th or 23rd September, both Fridays. Please fill in availability on the sheet, if the distance is too far just put yourself as a no, I did tell him it's a very long way for everyone in North London, but he is a good person to have on our side.Obviously we wouldn't do both, if you have a preference but can do both please just put which one you'd prefer
2. Birthday DoD for Northgate 29th October. We've got rather a lot of no replies and a couple of maybes meaning we don't have a team, they've asked if we know yet so it would be good to give them an answer. For a bit more info they've said 'We are planning on meeting at 11:00 am for a 12:00 pm dancing start. We have a venue booked at a pub Bath from 17:00 pm onward.' I'm not exactly sure what the booked pub involves, as in just a place to be, or if there would be more dancing, but it gives people a better idea of times. Silver Flame also seemed happy to put us up for the night if anyone wanted to stay (i.e. don't let the distance put us off).
3. For those who weren't at practice but read the email about the irish dancing day, I've said no, it didn't seem like it was worth getting involved with it.
4. Crawl will be around Euston area, details to follow from Hannah as soon as she's squared a few pubs. Please be at the first pub around 7 ready to dance at 7.30. For anyone who even vaguely doesn't hate speaking in public please consider what you can do to be a bit of a tommy as we have no Sue. Even if it's just a big shout to say here we are and then ask for money at the end! Also if you have a collection tankard please bring it along.
5. 3rd September London Folk Festival. This is now just a dance spot where we could do the two dances. We can decide when we want to dance as to whatever suits the team best. We have tons of maybes, if you haven't given a firm answer please do so!
6. Atm we have Hannah, Katherine and I who want to stay after Laura Ws wedding. Rachel I think you're the only we're not sure about, could you have a think so we know next week? I know Laura W is checking if there was a spare room in a nearby pub as they may have overbooked, if not I'll look into accommodation in Canterbury.

Hi guys,
Not sure I'm going to make it this evening, I'm with a case in theatres that is just about to start. If it doesn't take as long as I think I may be there but a little late.
Will keep you informed.

Hello all,
So next crawl is meant to be next week, have we got anyone who can actually organise it? (28th July)
Second, I know the 3rd of September seems forever away but if we don't have a team for the folk festival thing at Cecil Sharp we need to tell him. We have a bunch of maybes, if they become ye's we can dance, if they become nos then we can say no. Please fill in accordingly!
3rd, we now defo have a team for Laura Ws wedding without her having to hitch up her dress and join in (yay!) If you are a yes please consider if you want to stay over or if you will be heading home, if you are staying are you bringing a plus one?
At the moment I have: Me, Hannah and Katherine probs staying over, no plus ones.Jo probably heading home, no plus oneKate heading home, as driven by the lovely PaulRachel not sure.
Sue, have you had any thoughts? If you are going to the wedding please have a think what you'd like to do, hopefully by next practice so I can look into accommodation.
Also, we have been asked to dance at an event by Irish Set Dancers (please see website) on 25th September..it all looks a bit myserious to me but if anyone has time to research further or think it looks good please let me know!http://setsmad.net/
See some of you at Warwick, see the rest of you on Monday :)

Hello all,
So crawl around Bank next Monday, I think Laura is organising this, when you have the details can you share them so we can put them on facebook? Or create the facebook event?Whatever happens meet at Crosse Keys at 7 for a start at 7.30, if you're going to be late please either email (earlier in the day) or text me as Katherine is still hoarding her phone behind a radiator at work!
Carol will be coming along to play with us for at least some of the evening, which should be good! This is partly just so she knows what is happening at the Ceilidh spot.
Ceilidh spot 8th July, Ceilidh starts at 7 but our spots are 9.20 in the concert hall, and then troop to the chapel area for 9.30 (so a quick break in between to catch our breath).

for more info on the actual event!
The same guy, who really seems very keen on us has asked us for other dates coming up (please see info below)I'm putting together a folk club type night (non ceilidh) in West Norwood at a lovely new pub that's recently opened. Fee is £75 - £100.
FRIDAY 15th JULY - this would be the launch night and would be particularly good to get you guys in for.
But there are also possibilities on:
FRIDAY 19th AUGUST
FRIDAY 30th SEPTEMBER
FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBERFRIDAY 30th SEPTEMBER
This could possibly be a regular (maybe bi-monthly) spot if all goes to plan. I am under pressure with this one (for the earlier dates at least) to confirm as soon as possible.
Katherine what do you think of this? I'm happy to make it clear we're not free for a regular spot, especially in west norwood of all places, but I didn't know what you would think of doing the launch date if we could get a team? I'll put it on the signup sheet. gets us seen and paid after all...

See you all soon,

Hi all
I'm going to be late to practice next week as I'm travelling back from
Leeds on Monday, all being well I'll be there around 8.
I believe *Laura S *will be there so we can start with some Westerhope
practice and I'll leave Becky with a plan.
See some of you tomorrow :)
Kx
P.S. Ffion how's the finger?!
Hello all,
Thanks to everyone who came along to the crawl for dancing, playing and supporting etc! Thanks to Laura W. for organising it so well :)
Next week we'll be back to practice as normal.
For those coming on Friday please follow the link for extra information. The venue looks to be between West Norwood and Streatham, both on main line (admittedly South West trains) and Streatham is on Thames Link too. Alternatively you could Victoria Line to Brixton and get a bus, there look to be lots of choices all taking 20-30 mins.
Please follow the link for more info, as the page has so much on it please note the event is at The British Home SW16 3JB
http://www.folkofthewood.co.uk/
We will be doing two dance spots, 9.20 and 9.30 (i.e. 1x jubilee, 1x piccadilly) The whole thing opens at 7, kicking off around 7.30. Please be there by 8.30 so we can get everyone together and hopefully have a run through with Carol (musician!). We're welcome to join in with the whole ceilidh etc so if people want to be there before/after we're more than welcome!
Think that's all,
Becky
