I knew there was something I meant to mention yesterday!
After discussions with Will who came on the crawl to play box we found that there were no campatible dates until DERT itself, and even then that meant he was away every week in April so wasn't keen!
He said he'd be interested in playing again in the future but for now we are leaving ourselves in the lovely hands of Kate [😊]

Hi all,
I've been putting together a crib sheet for Westerhope. It should cover
what we have done so far in terms of timing and style. Comment and let me
know if there are mistakes, things you'd like to work on, bits you think
need improving...
Looking forward to dancing this out on Thursday.
Thanks,
Rachel :)

Hi all,
Last week (30/1) there was some experimentation with sweeping the sword
between consecutive dancers down and up in single guard. I said I'd go
away and check what the notation says, as I had a memory the notation said
to keep swords high. Sorry it's taken me so long to come back to you all!
However, I am wrong, and the notation is just not that specific. It says:
"Each dancer in turn lifts his rapper turning left out of the set, dances
around the set and back into place".
If the sweep is something people would like to try, therefore, we could try
it again in practice and see what we think - I know many of the Westerhope
set weren't present when it was tried on 30/1 (including me!) and you
should get a chance to try it too.
Just to be clear, we won't be doing this on Thursday, but instead will
dance as we have been doing with swords high throughout the figure.
Rachel :)
Hello all,
Considering there's no music and the potential tube strike I've decided it's better to postpone the stepping practice from this Monday as it seems like we're not making the most of the opportunity for help. This also means if people are worried about the strike they don't have to battle there way to and from practice.
Obviously there will be a normal practice so if you can make it please do!
I've asked Ru what dates she can do and she's checking the 13th with Jon. I know that means Ffion and Laura S won't be there but I'm hoping as many other people as possible will be available. If you're not please fill in your availability asap.
ALSO we currently don't have a set for Piccadilly on Thursday as Laura W. and Jo S. are down as nos, is this definite? Katherine's trying to suss how many pubs to push to get. We have a Westerhope and Jubilee set so is still worth crawling!
Thanks all, and sorry for messing you around.
Becky
Got this strange enquiry at work… Rapper has a lot in common with marriage
apparently!
Do we know who the local sides are to Lichfield?
Cheers, Laura

Hi ,
can you put me in touch with any rapper teams who would be willing to dance
at our golden wedding party, Sat. 1st April about 4pm near Lichfield? I
have tried whip the cat in Nottingham, and another team and gather there is
a big convention for rappers the following week. I have also found it hard
to get contact details so would appreciate your help. We think rapper
dances have much in common with marriage which is why we are so keen for
that form of dancing,
best wishes

Hi everyone,
Incredible amount raised on the crawl last week - so well done everyone!
And thanks for organising Ffion. (Completely forgotten the amount, but it
was more than £200!)
Not too much from me this week (I hope...)
We should now be all sorted for Katherine's Wedding, we'll start sorting
out payments etc for this in the next couple of weeks and try to make sure
there is a gap between this and DERT (as that's a long one that's at the
bottom... but please read it!)
1. New on the sign-up sheet - We have been invited by the Belles of London
to a Women's Day of Dance on 1st October along with Esps, Dacre and Camden.
The iea is to do a walking/public transport tour of London visiting some of
the favourite places of Maud Karpeles. They are hoping to raise money for
Women's Aid, but this is yet to be confirmed with the relevant authorities.
Please fill in the sign-up sheet with your availability. Other thing it
would be useful to get some replies for are the possible dates for going to
dance for Laura W's Old Folks - 18th Feb or 18th March - though I don't
think 18th Feb is actually viable.
2. DERT - So, the next thing we need trains for now is DERT, I think I
have information as to what time of day (almost) everyone would prefer to
travel up on the Friday - those of you that haven't could you add
yourselves on/email me to let me know. I would like to try and group people
together as soon as possible so we can get our tickets sorted. Trains are
roughly hourly throughout the day.
Cost-wise it looks to be ~£65 with a railcard. Without a railcard it looks
to be about £81 return. That group save appears to be a special offer on
the virgin trains website to Oxenholme and then a pair of singles, so may
be worth taking advantage of asap - otherwise it looks to be about £99 for
the straightforward return without railcard.
I will investigate what else we can do to make it cheaper (possibly a thing
via Manchester?), but I can't promise anything. We are travelling a long
way though, so given that is £30-40 each way to the Lake District it's not
that bad! There will be some subsidisation, so don't let the costs put
anyone off.
If you are (or could be) travelling with someone you might regularly travel
with, it may be worth considering getting a 2-together railcard.
I'm enjoying a significant reduction in the "No-replies" on the sigh-up
sheet - so thanks very much for that! :)
Have a lovely week.
Hannah :)
