Hello all,
Please find attached AGM minutes, plus action points for individuals that I've tried to pull out from it, but I'm hoping people have fairly good ideas of what they need to do anyway!
Generally there needs to be a hand over of roles- this includes Hannah having access to the info emails and me handing over any ongoing correspondents/organising. I need to take on a lot of info regarding the dance from Katherine!
Tour organisers- plan out the next couple of months of crawls- where they'll happen and who is organising them. Maybe doodle poll potential dates for the pre-DERT crawls.
Kit- can we confirm if we have Janet's kit? Sinead if you read this does your new timetable allow you to come back? If not are we able to have your kit back until you're around to use it again? -Hannorah to find out the price of making a skirt at her local tailors - Laura S have you any thoughts on Westerhope kit? Have a lot more time at this point
Festivals- Hannah to ask re. Bromyard next year and to look into Chippenham - we can invite ourselves so think it would be a good starting point for us!
Longsword - Hannah to create a doodlepoll of potential dates for a longsword practice. One Saturday/ Sunday to give it a go and then see from there how we do
Ffion to send out an email asking inactive members if they still want to be on the email list, delete as appropriate.
My aim is to get to grips with the dance, discuss with Katherine/Ffion any ideas for how to develop Piccadilly. As well as working on the team performing a double jubilee as aim to do this at the showcase.
Westerhope- Laura S to consider plan for Westerhope - AGM discussion re. having a second Westerhoper who can continue the practice on the alternate weeks you're not there but following your plans of what you'd like to work on in the long term (please try and sort this at this coming weeks practice).
I am away for the next week and a bit so am leaving Katherine/Ffion in charge of next weeks practice (sorry Katherine, no retirement for you!) Also as long as Laura S is around I'd like the team to work on Westerhope.
Thanks all,
Becky
Hi all,
Just to remind you what we agreed yesterday: Meet at St Michael's at 7.30
as normal, but in Westerhope DERT kit. 1 hour's practising, followed by 3
pubs (which Hannorah is finding - thanks Hannorah!).
Westerhope DERT kit is: shoes, tights, normal skirt (no petticoat), sash,
normal tshirt, black blouse, blue tie, badge. If you don't have a tie or
badge yet, don't worry as Kate and Laura S will be bringing spares.
Non-Westerhope people, please come too! You can be supportive or critical
:)
Rachel x
PS Hannah has also asked me to remind anyone that didn't bring their sash
yesterday to bring it on Monday so it can have extra sparkles added.
Our collection from last week's crawl has risen to £208.50 because I was able to pay the USD and Euro notes into the bank.
Well done everyone!

(And Simon's, I suppose)
Please could everyone meet at *Kings Cross at 1115* so that we can hand out
tickets and find our seats. See meeting point on the map below. I'll get
there early and will be standing somewhere in that area near the ticket
barriers/ticket office/ticket machine /oliver bonas.
The train leaves at 1135 and if anyone is not there in time, then I'm
afraid we will leave without you and you will need to sort yourself out on
the next train. (Rachel, obviously you've sorted yourself, so this doesn't
apply to you)
The train arrives at 1348, so if you would like lunch before then, it's
probably a good idea to take some with you.
When we arrive we'll go and check in to the Ibis (Leeds City Centre) -
10-15 minute walk. We'll then go and meet Thrales by 3pm (hopefully) in Mr
Foley's Ale House (LS1 5RG) - they are meeting from 2.30 so we could go
earlier. The key things is we will start dancing at 3.30 and then go on a
crawl to some (probably not all) of the following (Tom Richardson will be
our guide):
Cutherbert Broderick (LS1 3HJ)
Dry Dock (LS2 3AX)
Fenton
Pack Horse
Eldon
Library
These will take us towards the venue (The Faversham) where there will be
some dancing between 5 and 7pm. We will be dancing Picadilly and probably
Westerhope if everyone is happy with that (Rachel would be 2) during the
day and will then do a Picadilly in one of the interval spots at the
ceilidh with Katherine and Becky - I think Becky said that this will
probably be either at the start or about half an hour into the ceilidh.
Feel free to bring something else to wear - there's no need to wear kit all
evening for the ceilidh and disco, unless you really want to! :)
Sunday morning, we need to be out by 10 so will go and find somewhere to
have brunch then before catching the 1205 back to London. Might well be
'Spoons as there's one right outside the station...
See you at Kings Cross! (or on Monday if you're not coming)
Hope I haven't forgotten to mention anything vitally important!

Hi everyone,
Attached is the info from Crook Morris about the day if you want to know
any details. It includes links to various items on the dert 2017 website (
http://www.dertinfo.co.uk/), such as timetables, maps etc. Becky will
collect our wristbands and sort all that lot out. There will be more info
next week, but just a couple of things ready for you to think about this
week - most importantly BREAKFAST!
1. Hostel (and breakfast)
2. DERT Bake-Off
3. Stickers!!
4. Brief outline of the Saturday timetable
*1. Hostel* - we are staying in the Kendal Hostel (
http://www.kendalhostel.com/) which is only about a 15 minute walk tops
from the station. On Sunday we will go to Spoons or something for brunch,
so we decided yesterday to only ask for breakfast on Saturday morning. The
consensus was a "simple" breakfast which includes Cereals, Bread/Toast,
Jams and Preserves, Fruit, Fruit Juice, Tea and Coffee would be fine,
though if anyone would like a Full English I can order these (it will only
cost an extra £3 for anyone that does want it) - so far Hannorah and the 2
Pauls would like the Full English. *If anyone else would like a Full
English, please get back to me by Friday 12 noon* as I need to contact the
hostel to book them. (Simple will be the default, and I will book as many
as are actually staying in the hostel - think we have one or 2 spare beds,
am recounting this week.)
Hannorah - did you say your sister is staying on Friday? (Breakfast
purposes :) )
*2. DERT Bake-Off*
I think we are sort of obliged to enter something given we forgot to take
our cake bribe for the AJ's last year... Seemed like there were some
suggestions of making a Kendal Mint Shot cake thing with actual shots and
maybe arranged to look like a rapper set. Possibility of gluten free. So,
we need someone to bake or at least someone willing to carry the creation
to DERT and put it on the judging table by 9pm on the Friday night (or both
- if evening people would like to bake, we'd need a carrier)... Volunteers?
Also any suggestions on developing this concept beyond my rather shaky
outline..
More info on this and the AJ competition here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/675344492568251/
*3. Stickers*
Ffion is printing stickers today - so if there was an idea that you thought
was especially amazing, please let her know (not sure when they were being
done today, so get comments in asap if you have any...)
*4. Saturday*
The day itself - I won't put too much information on here - save boring you
all until next, but if you would like more info please check out the dert
2017 website/the attached/ask me in case I happen to know the answer...
Warm-up dance 1030
Then we will be dancing at 5 pubs during the day with an additional spot at
the shopping centre where we have 10 mins to raise as much money as we can
for the Great North Air Ambulance (this is a side competition set by Crook
Morris) - so we can use this to run through the trad again as well as
Picadilly.
There is a reasonable gap between the end of the pub dancing and the start
of the evening do, so we'll be able to have a good dinner, relax a bit, run
through Westerhope and collect the second set of swords ready for the
evening.
In the evening, the Westerhope will be at 1945 - they are alternating trad
dances and showcase dances in the first half. Our double jubilee will then
be at 2100 towards the end of the second half.
I'll send some more info next week.
See you soon!
Hannah
Hello all,
Just so you know this is my plan for tonight's practice.
Start with Jubilee practice for the wedding- those going I have as this, please all be there tonight:
Hannah, Laura W, Sue, Ffion, Reesha, Rachel, Joanna, Laura S,
If Rachel is still up for dancing then you might be able to do a Westerhope with her as two but that's really up to her/the team. Thrales are crawling from 3.30 which I think you guys can actually join in with? But again we can discuss that tonight. I need to check my details but think you guys will be out and about in some capacity until around 5, then gathering at the wedding where I think there is then some outside dancing. After that I think us and Thrales both have one performance inside pre-ceilidh. The plan is to do the Piccadilly DERT set as Katherine really wants to dance and, especially for people that haven't seen rapper before, Piccadilly is defo the most exciting thing we've got [😊]
I'd also ideally like to work through Jubilee with Hannorah at 2 ready for DERT.
After that Westerhope have free reign. Those not in the Westerhope set please don't run off unless necessary, the more people available to watch and help the better, and I'll probably make us do some extra stepping.
See you later,
Becky
Hello all,
Timetable for Kendal is announced, plus a handy map [😊] http://www.dert2017.co.uk/timetables-and-maps/
Generally looks ok, and (other than 1 dance where we follow Red Mum which will be hard to compete on buzz) we've got a great chance of making an excellent impression (unlike last year it's different each time which is really nice).
Trad you dance at 19.45 our final dance is at 21.00 so we have to remain sober enough to get through it!
Have a lovely weekend. We will discuss cake entry on Monday..
Becky xx
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to say thanks for another great crawl, I'm so happy with how the dance is being performed, I think we're going to have a great day in Kendal. Sue you're sounding great, keep practicing to the video it's totally doing the trick - I am loving all the London references [😊] Kate - other than the mystery start that one time - sounding great, got excellent pace and generally still feeling really controlled.
Hopefully Jubilee feeling more confident now as well, Jo your calling has grown in confidence massively, we'll have another go on Monday to stamp it well and truly in.
Thank you again for all your hard work. Whatever happens we're gonna have an ace day!
See you on Friday/Monday/at the wedding/ in Kendal [😲]
Becky xx
