Hello all,
1. St Albans
2. 23rd June Sidmouth Day Practice
3. Doodle poll for next crawl due to the world cup
4. 21st December Winter Solstice (Rough Trade gig)
1.Aiming to get to St Albans for 12.00 (whole host of trains but remember they're probably rubbish atm) meet in th first pub The Horn in kit and ready to dance. After that we're free to roam as we want until the mass show at the Abbey. This starts at 2.45, and we are 6th on. They've said the timing is tight so we will go on do one dance and then straight off again. I think as long as we were there by 3 that should be fine.
I'll email re. collection and any flyers in case we can pick those up ahead of time!
Jubilee:
1.Emma/Rachel
2.Hannorah
3. Becky
4.Ffion
5. Rachel-Anne/Rachel
Westerhope:
1.Rachel/Hannorah
2.Rachel-Anne
3.Becky
4.Emma
5.Ffion
6.Rachel/Hannorah
2.We're scheduled in at the hall on Saturday 23rd June. And I have the following people as coming:
Ellie, Emma, Katherine, Patrick, Sue, Becky, Rachel-Anne
It's not huge numbers, I plan to work on the clog dance, Jubilee and Westerhope, with people learning new numbers. Obviously any extra people that can come would be great!
3. Turns out that the next crawl is scheduled for an England World Cup match night. The Friday after this has no football on so might be the option. Please fill in poll asap re. availability! https://doodle.com/poll/nuuygzn9n3kt8p98
4.We were invited to a summer solstice event which we didn't have the numbers for. I've responded and we are invited for the Winter Solstice (21st December). Please do bear it in mind and fill it in!
Thanks,
Becky x
Hello all,
Absences: Sue, Hannah, Martin, Rachel, Anna, Emma (Jo I have lost track!!) and Emily
We do have: Hannorah, Pat covering us on music, and Eleanor
The aim is to prep for St Albans (albeit without Emma and Rachel)
Please be there by quarter past 7 if you are practicing the clog dance. I'm going to try and be there at 10 past 7 to unlock and shift things about (all help appreciated), and then we may have another go at the end. As Pat is standing in and doesn't always have much time at the start we might do that without music, and then we'll also do some at the end.
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Those going to St Albans next Saturday. I propose we meet at the station ready to dance in the Horn just round the corner which opens at 12. There might be the odd pub that opens earlier in town but seems a bit daft to go earlier if most things are shut.
I know the trains are shocking at the moment so maybe aim for a slightly earlier train than normal, the one I will get in seems to arrive around 11.40.
After that we'll wend our way around the town and are then be part of a mass show at the Abbey at 4. If people are keen we could carry on dancing afterwards or just go home. We will discuss on Monday 😊
I encourage hip flasks and selfies!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
It's finally Friday! So in advance of all your exciting plans...
Next Saturday will be the St Albans Folk Festival - just finalising
start/finish time info and then I'll suggest some trains and check the name
of the pub near the station (think it's the Golden Horn...). if anyone
needs to rush off early please shout now as they are asking whether we
would like to take part in the mass dance at the end - think this was
around 4pm last time.
We will not be attending the Tuesday evening thing on 21st August in
Croydon as there aren't quite enough people available to make it worth
while.
Other sign-ups - crawls up to the end of the year are now on the sign-up
sheet, so please start filling in. June crawl looking good, so thanks all
for that.
Sidmouth - please start thinking about your travel plans. Rachel-Anne is
looking for travel buddies on the Friday - when are you returning
Rachel-Anne? Think the price you were quoting was a return ticket?
In other news the Morris Party theme has been announced - LONDON
UNDERGROUND!! If you have any awesome ideas please share... ideally they
would like us to incorporate this into a 5 min spot.

Have a good weekend!
Hannah :)
Hi all,
Absences: Sue, Katherine, Martin and I think Jo. Rachel I've lost track due to bank holidays!
We have Nikki playing instead of Martin so do still have music 😊
Please, for those who are able, aim to be there around 7 to set the room up and run through the step dance Ellie taught us. Don't worry if you can't be there, I have no way of knowing for certain if the room will even be free. Depending how people are feeling at 9.30 I will also suggest a run-through then and see how we get on. Please come having looked at the video and tried to remember it - the point of these extra times either side of practice is not to learn it but to practice it!
We'll be thinking about St Albans in a couple of weeks time.
Thanks,
Becky x
Hi All,
Sidmouth is just 2 months away! Wooo!
Seat belts on and strap yourselves in for a long-ish read.
So, some info on getting to Sidmouth... I think at this point it is going
to be much simpler if everyone can sort themselves out please - obviously
if you are completely stuck, let me know and I'm happy to help in any way I
can. I'll add some info on trains below with approx prices and also info
about car share etc. (though nothing beats checking it out yourself to be
absolutely certain you have The Best Deal) I guess there is probably also
mega-bus to Exeter if you fancy that as well! Though might be tiring on the
way home. If you are down to stay until the end, you'll want to head off on
Saturday so you don't miss out on the final night of stuff.
I'm going to add a little section right at the bottom of the sign-up sheet
with the names of all the Ravens going to Sidmouth (plus one's can either
be considered to be sorting themselves or travelling with their Raven).
Please add whether you have sorted your travel out and what method - I will
be chasing to make sure everyone is sorted. The only person who doesn't
have some form of Railcard is Rachel-Anne, I've now forgotten which days
you are doing but if there are people doing the same as you a group-save
might be the way forward. (I'm sure it's written down somewhere!)
*Train Travel:*
Paddington to Exeter by train, 20 min walk to Exeter Bus station and then
the No. 9 or 9A stagecoach bus. Super-off peak return costs about £58 with
a railcard, off-peak return is more like £77 with a railcard (some advance
fares and different times of day will make this cheaper), the bus is around
£6.60 before 6/7pm (forgotten which) after which the Nightrider kicks in
and costs £3.50 (as far as I remember!). Last bus from Exeter to Sidmouth
2335. Buses are pretty frequent during the day - every half an hour, going
down to hourly in the evening. Cheeky tip with this one if travelling
during more peaky-times you can get the off-peak return fare on some
services such as the 1803 if you put Eggesford in instead of Exeter...these
are £77.
Waterloo to Honiton by train and then the No. 9 or 9A bus to Sidmouth from
outside the station. Off peak returns to Exeter/Honiton cost about £50 with
a railcard (again advance fares and time of day will probably make this
cheaper), and I've forgotten how much the bus is. The last bus from Honiton
to Sidmouth goes at 2000 on a Friday. If you're likely to arrive later than
this but would like the (usually) slightly cheaper train ticket but longer
journey, continue to Exeter (probably advise getting off at Exeter Central
as it's a shorted walk) and take the bus below to Sidmouth. With the
Honiton option you can buy a Sidmouth bus add-on at a train station -
unfortunately no longer available online. Fun fact there used to be a rail
station in Sidmouth, so you can technically buy train tickets there! Think
you have to wait 45 mins in Honiton for the bus - potentially just enough
time to eat v. quickly in spoons or whatever!
Basically take your pick of time vs cost and when you can actually travel
and then have a play.
*National Express Bus*
There are national express buses to Exeter if you fancy this option...
Takes about 4hrs 40 apparently, you'll then need to take the bus (mentioned
above) to Sidmouth.
*Car Travel:*
If you are travelling by car and have spaces that you would be willing to
offer in exchange for petrol and drinks, please add this so people can see.
Sidmouth are keen to make this the greenest festival ever so are
encouraging car sharing - using a thing called GoCarShare where you could
offer a lift for petrol money / ask for a lift.
https://gocarshare.com/festival/sidmouth-folk-week
I probably should have put this together before, but there's still plenty
of time to get yourselves sorted, especially if you make a start at looking
this week...
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
We've been invited to go and do a couple of dances at Martin and Will
Allen's gig as Brown Boots with various spots on 5th June in the Folklore
in Shoreditch. We'd get in free in case anyone was worried about that.
Starts at 1930, exact time for dancing TBC. Will has played box for us on
crawls sometimes
I've added it onto the sign-up sheet, please fill in asap as it isn't all
that far away and we don't have a practice on Monday due to the bank
holiday so I can't ask you in person...
