Here's a video of the clog dance I was failing to teach! It's called (or
rather I call it) Ottawa waltz and makes a bit more sense with the music!
The tune is Crested Hen's but I imagine other French Canadian/French tunes
might also work.
Thanks,
Ellie

Hi everyone!
This week’s zoom topic is-
LAST MEAL ON EARTH
Tell us all about your perfect meal, multiple courses encouraged and of course what you’d drink with it.
I promise there will be no dodgy photoshopped pictures of politicians this week. Probably.
See you at 7pm on monday!

Hiya,
Here's a task for you all at the weekend. We don't currently have any
pictures of 2019 DERT in the g-drive. If you have some, email them to me!
(I don't want to take them off facebook because the compression is bad - I
want originals!) You can use wetransfer <https://wetransfer.com/> if you
like too.
There are other events for which we lack photos but I'm gonna ask for them
one at a time.
Thanks everyone!!!

Hi Ravens!
Congrats on making it through another week :)
Links for Monday's zoom are below and I'll stick them on the whatsapp group just before 7pm on Mon as well.
This week's topic: "What I did on my (imaginary) Easter holidays"
I thought it might be fun to escape real life for a bit and make each other laugh, no need to stay within the constraints of Earth/reality if you wish! As an example here's mine...
"My mum and I roadtripped up to Scotland in the campervan and stayed in the grounds of Hogwarts. We spent most of the weekend exploring the castle, discovering fantastic beasts in the grounds with Hagrid and finished it off with a Dylan concert at the top of the highest tower."
If that sounds like way too much effort then feel free to just enjoy other people's contributions (or gatecrash their holidays)!
See you Monday :)

Hi All,
I've been a bit lax about invites etc. given we have no idea how long this
will last for. However we have an invite to Hartlepool Folk Festival 16-18
October - they are aware that this may yet have to be cancelled, and we
obviously don't know when we'll be able to practice again to get back up to
speed...
They're aware that it's a little way away from London for a weekend (4.5hrs
by train, so not too bad!) and that things are a bit uncertain, so at the
mo, they'd just like an idea as to whether we would be likely to go, so if
you can just vote in this little doodle that would help (options are
probably would, maybe? and nope). I won't commit you to anything you reply
on the doodle.

Hi all,
Here's the link to tonight's zoom meeting :D. I set it as a recurring
meeting so hopefully the same link will work in the future. Let's start at
7pm as usual. I haven't really thought of a particular topic for discussion
but I think it'd be lovely to go round and see how everyone is and how the
past week has been. Of course we'll also have to compare magnificent
homemade trophies!
See everyone later x

Hello everyone,
I said I'd organise a crafty zoom chat for anyone and everyone interested
in crafts.
I was thinking of Saturday afternoon this week at 4pm. It doesn't have to
be a long session, just a catch up on what we're doing, sharing ideas and
helping out newbies to a particular craft or people interested in learning
something. Deets below.
You don't have to be currently crafting to join! Come and be nosey! And you
don't have to stay the whole time, drop in and out as you like.
If you do want to join in but don't have any projects on the go, can I
suggest pompom making? It's really easy and I'm happy to talk people
through it - all you need is thin-ish card, a circular thing to draw
around, scissors and an amount of yarn (and potentially a tapestry needle
but not necessarily, tweezers will do in a pinch - no pun intended!)
Hopefully see some of you there on Saturday!

Hi folks,
As I was only in the meeting for a bit yesterday I thought I'd save my thank yous from DERT for an email! As well as some business..
1. Virtual DERT
2. Going forward with weekly meetings
3. Postponed EGM
4. Task for next week!
1.Virtual DERT
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved, whether that was preparing a submission, voting, joining in on the chat, or just not going insane at trying to keep up with the number of messages going round! I really appreciated the distraction and I hope you all did too.
I did want to give a special thanks to a few people:
* Martin for all the mighty video editing (solo dance and buzz)
* Paul, I mean Patrick, for the character video!
* Miriam for the Steep Hill photo
* Hannah for all the admin
* Katherine for all the social media posts on the day (and Rachel-Anne celebrating our victory on instagram!
* Dilly team for the stepping videos and all the hard work in the solo dance
Overall enthusiasm and participation was typically ravens, and once more I was made immensely proud to be part of such an awesome group!
2. Zoom meetings are hopefully being enjoyed by everyone and I know the most recent one went well being chaired by Emma, as well as her organising it in the first place and providing a topic. I would propose a different person does this job each week, it's not hard but it does split it up! Not everyone has to do it, I don't want it to be a massive task for everyone. Next week I nominate Ellie to organise and chair - but she can come up with a topic (sorry Ellie, if you hate the idea please get someone else to do it).
3. Obviously yesterday would have been the EGM and although we're not going to try and do this remotely I do want to remind everyone that when we can meet, and we have the EGM, I will be standing down as foreperson. We never really got to the bottom of an assistant at practice as although Katherine helped with whatever I asked of her (she knows I'm sorry!) it didn't really work very well as is just too hard to coordinate much in advance. It basically took someone with experience of teaching to do something productive with whoever was left after my planned activity (most common when someone/ multiple people had said they couldn't make practice, but only on the day).
I am 100% happy to go through my role, answer any questions and have any discussions about how a new foreperson can be supported.
I also think it's worth discussing the handover in the current circumstances. As above, I'm happy to stay in place until we have an EGM, but with such a long break I imagine getting back into dancing might be rather unusual, if people think we need a process to cover that please suggest!
4. Fun task??
I was going to suggest this for the particularly bored/creative. Since we won so many awards but get no trophies, if people want to design winning trophies over the week and share them on zoom that'd be awesome. (I'm thinking imaginative use of recycling!).
Stay safe and keep in touch,
Becky xx

Happy lunchtime ravens! Link for tonight is below. I thought we could go
round and each say a ravens thing that we've really enjoyed over the past
year (from the day after DERT last year to today) or your favourite thing
from virtual DERT, because we sometimes do that at this time of year and it
always makes me feel warm and gooey inside :)
