Here's a video of the clog dance I was failing to teach! It's called (or
rather I call it) Ottawa waltz and makes a bit more sense with the music!
The tune is Crested Hen's but I imagine other French Canadian/French tunes
might also work.
Thanks,
Ellie

Hello,
To make this an evening of organised Ravens fun details, here is my plan
for next week's Zoom :D
Inspired by the excellent QI podcast No Such Thing As A Fish, I thought
that we could do No Such Thing As A Raven, which requires a little bit of
homework. Please bring your favourite quite interesting fact, ideally one
which you have learned this week. For example, last week I learned that
Barack Obama used 22 pens for one signature when signing Obamacare into law
(source

(Clare's zoom link yet again, thanks Clare!)

Dearest Ravens,
I'd love for you to join me in toasting my new house this Friday at 7:30 🥳
We mentioned a few weeks ago having more drinky zoomy times on a similar
schedule to when we'd normally crawl. So to emulate the pub crawl
experience I thought we could tour round my house, changing room (and
refreshing drinks!) every half an hour or so. To join me in this you could:
- also move room/space/orientation with me
- have a new drink (alcoholic or not) every new room/space
- put your hoodie and coat on just before we move room, then take them both
off again once we get to the next room
- ignore all this silly nonsense and simply enjoy the view
If you would like to bring a game or other entertainment please feel free!
Dress code is fancy or whatever you fancy :)
Here's the zoom details (thanks Clare!), I'll post them again on WhatsApp
on Friday.

Hi All,
"Virtual" Strawbear is on next weekend if you fancy some entertainment and
memories of our chilly trip to see the bear last year. (And Martin and Will
will be doing their (pre-recorded) Boots gig.
Hannah.

*Hello to all previous Straw Bear Dance Teams,*
*It’s such a shame we can’t all be together dancing in the cold again this
year. I would like to thank those of you who have provided video and photo
contributions over the last few months.*
*Straw Bear Online is only a week away! Have a look at strawbear.org.uk
<http://strawbear.org.uk> for more information and to reserve your tickets.
We have FREE live Zoom music sessions on both Saturday and Sunday, a Zoom
ceilidh on Saturday night at only £6 per household, a FREE historical talk
about the Straw Bear on Zoom and plenty of videos that will be released on
our new YouTube channel over the weekend which you may see the bear and
yourselves appearing over the last 40 years!*
*I hope to see you ‘virtually’ there!!*

*Whittlesea Straw Bear will be online in 2021*
The 42nd Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival will take place in an online-only
format on 15 – 17 January 2021.
Viewers are invited to follow the Festival on YouTube
<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv-8lbs_I8jFEbsI-YZW99A> or Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/whittleseastrawbear/> (search for Whittlesea
Straw Bear) where most of the events will take place. The online broadcasts
will include highlights from the festival, archive footage from its early
days in the 1980s, Morris dancing, interviews with the organisers and 41
years of the Bear.
Events start with an online concert on Friday 15 January, with
contributions from major folk artists Granny’s Attic, Jackie Oates and
Brown Boots, plus popular local artists Brian Kell, Ady Bull, Frog on a
Bike and Barry Goodman.
Musicians will be able to play along to live sessions via Zoom on the
Saturday and Sunday; and Saturday evening brings the chance to dance at a
home-based barn dance with popular ceilidh duo Doug Eunson and Sarah
Matthews, with caller Martyn Harvey.
The festival concludes with a folk club style concert and dance footage on
the Sunday lunchtime, before a showing of the traditional burning of the
Bear.
All events are free except the Zoom Ceilidh, which costs £6 per household.
Full details of all Straw Bear Online events, and how to buy ceilidh
tickets and your exclusive Straw Bear merchandise, can be found at
