1. Practice on the 22nd2. Thrales Day3. Doodle Poll Reminder4. New Doodle Poll for pre-DERT crawls
Hi all,
Good tumbling practice last night, onwards and upwards :)
1.Firstly I have added the practice on the 22nd of December to the signup sheet to see if it is actually worth having one, many people will be at home or soon travelling so no point if you can't make it. Please fill this in ASAP!
2.While you're there please note I have added Thrales birthday 2015 to the list- most people can make this but please note if you are available for only the saturday or the sunday to say so!

3. If you haven't already please fill in the poll regarding when you are free for extra rehearsals running up to DERT. The aim is to narrow it down so we can find the best few days for everyone!

4. Also we need to figure out when is best for people to crawl before DERT as this counts so much as part of the prep for competing. Please respond to this whether you think you will be dancing or not as it all makes a difference.
As agreed at the AGM we have gone for alternate Thursdays and Fridays to see what difference this makes and whether we would like to continue this after DERT. There probably is some room for manoeuvre as to which we choose but I've only given 1 set to make it as simple as possible, if this causes any particular problems this can be discussed at next weeks practice.

Thanks all,

Hi all,
Another good practice tonight. Congratulations to new tumbler Reesha and well done to everyone else for making progress with tumbling and pillaring. It was good to go through some Westerhope figures. It seemed like the general consensus was for double cramper rather than single.
Next week I'd like to teach the new dance to some other people - probably Hannorah and Laura as I think they've done the most big chunks out of everyone else. If we have a second set we can continue working through Westerhope figures.
See you all soon,
Ffion x
Hi everyone
It's getting to the time of year when we need to renew our insurance etc.
Could you please take a moment to look at this document and let me know if you'd like personal insurance under this scheme?
https://dub124.mail.live.com/mail/ViewOfficePreview.aspx?messageid=mgyhCED3…
NB this only relates to personal insurance while performing, practising or travelling to either. The side is insured for public liability separately.
Cheers

If you are a maybe on the sign up sheet please be prepared to say a definite yes or no for joining in with the Morris crawl on Saturday.
We just have a team and I don't want to confirm unless everyone is happy which means I really am leaving it to the last minute.
This is the schedule for the day:
We sorted the pub dance spots the other Saturday but have been waiting for a permit for our 1st spot which came through the end of last week. More London Estates have given us permission for a Christmas themed Morris Dancing performance at their Christmas Market which is by the side of City Hall. Our spot is from 10.45am till 12 noon with 2 performance spaces one within the Market and the other by the Christmas Tree but we cannot block the walkways. Programme for the Dacre & North Wood Christmas Festive Morris Tour: Meet City Hall at 10.30am for 10.45am start10.45 – 12.00 City Hall, near Tower Bridge - More London Christmas Market12.30 – 13.30 Old Thameside Inn, by The Golden Hind Galleon13.30 – 14.30 Lunch break – do your own thing(Borough Market is between the 2 pubs worth a visit with all kinds of food on offer or the pubs do sell food as well)14.30 – 15.15 The Anchor Bankside15.30 – 16.15 The Founders ArmsTimes subject to change on the day due to the weather, crowds, park cars or unforseen circumstances
See you later!

Hi all,
Well done to everyone who came to Mables Day today. We did some very tidy dances (even the ones with errors) AND did the new dance twice. I'll put the videos online when I get a chance.
Tomorrow I'd like us to work a bit on tumbling to give everyone a chance to move on one stage e.g. Going from being able to do it doing it with swords. We'll also make sure everyone gets some experience at pillaring. If you don't want us to see your underwear please wear trousers or a sensible skirt!
After tumbling we'll put our brains together on Westerhope, the trad dance, to see if we can work out how all of the potential figures go. If there's any extra time we'll start teaching some more people the new dance and that will be the priority for the following week too.
See you tomorrow,
Ffion x
P.S. Patrick and I are having a Christmas party next Saturday at our flat in Hoddesdon from approx 5pm and you'd all be very welcome to come. Let me know if you want any more details!
Hmm. On a closer inspection it looks as if st aldates is the better stop to go to. And again just round the corner from the pub. I think maybe I confused google maps/it confused me!
Thanks

Hello all,
I know it's mentally a strange time of year to think about events but we've been invited to a load so please start telling me if you're available!
1. 2-4th May: Rochester Sweeps Festival in Kent2. 10-12th July: Sandwich Folk Festival in SE Kent3. 18th July: Folk Festival in Bewl Water Country Park4. 12th September (yes another one!) London Folk Fayre- Cecil Sharp House

Also for those on the last crawl I was approached by 'Bob' who saw you at the Harrison and works at a pop-up comedy club near bank. He seems keen for us to dance there on any night. They are open from now until the 18th except Sundays. Let me know if you're interested! I feel like this might be a less random invite for someone who spoke to him..
Aaaand if you haven't filled out the doodle poll please do!

Cheers all- see some of you on Sunday. I did send the bus timetable they're about every 20 minutes, to avoid being stressed about lateness me and Ken are aiming for one around 9.15-30.

Hi Guys
Really sorry but realised I can't make the crawl on 18th, as it clashes with our work carol concert - which is at St Paul's this year, so it's a bit of a big deal & a 3 line whip around attendance. There's slim possibility I could make it from 10 onwards but I wouldn't want to promise.
I've changed my status on the sign-up sheet & by the looks of it we're still just about OK without me.
I am still happy to work with Janet to organise the pubs though, unless of course anyone else wants to take over.

Apologies for being somewhat useless on business yesterday- my brain feels a little rinsed!
1. Mable Day2. Doodle Poll3. Signup sheet4. Hannorah's skirt!
1. Mable Day:
Meeting in Oxford at the Royal Blenheim which opens at 11. The dancing is starting around midday so if people can aim to be there around 11.30 we can have some relaxed assembling!
After that we go Far to the Madding Crowd before splitting off and doing a mini crawl with another team, meeting at the King's Arms at around 4.15 where there will be possibly more dancing, and food!
There was a session at the end last year and they have said people are more than welcome to do this again so if you're interested bring an instrument along 😊
You can get the Oxford Tube (actually a bus) from just outside Victoria on Buckingham Palace Road. It looks to be about £15 for a return, with various concessions for students etc. They come about every 20 minutes and take about 1 hour 40- hope that helps!
I believe the stop to aim for in Oxford is the City Centre Gloucester Green which is a few minutes walk from the first pub:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/The+Royal+Blenheim,+13+St+Ebbes,+Oxford+O…
For more fare information and times please see the below site:
http://www.oxfordtube.com/tubefares.aspx
There is also park and ride although Mabels have offered this note of caution:There are roadworks on the Oxford ring road that may affect people expecting to park at the Redbridge park and ride. It might be fine on a Sunday with no problems but it might be an idea to bear it in mind. So if you're taking this route maybe double check first.
If anyone would like any further information please let me know :)
2. Doodlepoll!
I can't contact the church re. additional practices until we have everyone's info, please follow the link below and let us know when you're free for any weekend practices. It's not set in stone it's just to give me and Ffion the best idea :)

3. As always please consider the signup sheet!I think we basically have a yes for Thrales joining us in December but am waiting for a definite yes:

4. Did you take Hannorah's skirt home after the last crawl?? Have a look in your kit bag even if you're convinced you didn't, you never know :)
