Hi all, We've just had an invite through from Silver Flame regarding a possible crawl on Saturday 21st. It' really short notice, so I'd appreciate lots of prompt replies! Silver Flame are having a practice weekend in London next weekend (20-22nd Dec) somewhere in the depths of North London.We usually try and do a crawl on the Saturday night to try and get some real pub dancing in and collect a bit of money to cover costs of travel as we are all so spread out over the country. Would you (we've also messaged Thrales) be up for joining forces and hitting a few pubs somewhere across the city for a Christmassy crawl? We appreciate this is short notice but it would be great to hear from you." It'd be good to get some indication of numbers before Monday, so I hope to see lots of replies! DERT All Day Practices

Hi all, A reminder please to go and sign up on the sheet for your availability regarding all day practices for DERT. I've had sign ups from Becky, Ffion, Jo, Lindsey, Sinead and Sue. Food - Borough High Street Slug and Lettuce

There's a slug and lettuce here: http://www.slugandlettuce.co.uk/slug-boroughhighstreet/ Which is half-way between london bridge and borough, not far from the church. It's also 50% off food on a monday. Nic and I are heading there. I'll be there about 6:15 - 6.30 again. We'll leave to head to the church at 750. Linds

Those who want to can have a go at learning to tumble and for those who don't (or would rather put it off), there will hopefully be dancing space in the corner. Thrales practise in the basement of the Borough Welsh Congregational Chapel, SE1 0EX. Note that we will be starting at *8pm* and running until *10pm*. Rachel x

Signups Please!

Hi all, As mentioned earlier, I won't be there tonight. I think I might get out of work at a reasonable hour (for once!), but then I need to go home and sleep... I hope to make it to practice soon though. Work is calming down a bit, and I haven't seen you all in ages! Maybe next week, all being well. In the meantime... - - - - - 1. CRAWLS (19 DEC 2013 / 30 JAN 2014) We've told Folk London we're doing them, so let's make it good! The more the merrier! 2. WASSAILING WITH CHINGFORD MORRIS (4 JAN 2014) This is still a little while away (after Christmas!) but I'd love to be able to reply to say we can come in the next couple of weeks, so please sign up to that! We've not quite got a side at present, so another couple of names would be good. It sounds like a lovely little event up in North London: "there will be dancing, music and eating and drinking from 7.30pm onwards". 3. NORTHWOOD DAY OF DANCE (10 MAY 2014) we've told Northwood we're coming, but only just have a side! I have to give official numbers soon, so if you're thinking of coming to this, please sign up. 4. NEW: SANDWICH FOLK AND ALE FESTIVAL (11-13 JULY 2014) "For any new sides being invited, Sandwich is a beautiful small Medieval town near the coast of SE Kent near the end of the M2. There will be live music performed in the pubs and on 2 stages. Camping is on a private site within easy walking distance of the town centre and with good facilites. It is subsidised 50% by the festival leaving folk to pay just £5 / large pitch per night. As well as live bands/acts there will be tune and singalong sessions. Please let me know if your side can make it and which days they will bwe performing (sat/sun/both)" Is this something we want to do? We did say more festivals would be fun... 5. CINQUEFOIL / RAVENS DAY OF DANCE (tbc) Cinquefoil don't have a side for either of the January dates, so we're postponing this til after DERT. Two social invitations

Hi all, Hope those of you who came to Oxford yesterday all got home OK and are recovered from all that dancing. My calves hurt! I think I've invited most of you to these things on facebook but, just in case I haven't... This Friday the 6th my folk band, The Foxglove Trio, is playing at The Tiller Flat Folk Club which takes place on The Golden Hinde Ship on Southwark. I won't be the only Raven in action - Laura and her partner Ted will also be doing a set. Doors open at 7pm and music starts at about 8. You can buy tickets in advance if you want to by calling The Golden Hinde. There will be home made mince pies, mulled wine, sloe gin and more. Although Hoddesdon is outside of London it's not too difficult to get to - take the Victoria line to Tottenham Hale then it's a 13 minute train ride to Broxbourne.
