Hi,
I'm really sorry but I won't be well enough to dance tomorrow so I'll have to miss tenterden. I hope you all have a great time, and I'll see you on Monday.
Sinead
Hi all,
Hope you're looking forward to the workshop on Monday. Please keep inviting friends and spreading the word.
Please remember to arrive by 7.15pm. Here's the plan for the evening:
7.15 - Ravens arrive, sort out the room and bring some water up from the kitchen (if there are any jugs available)
7.30 - Welcome from me and ask about levels of experience, split into groups
7.40 - ravens DERT dance
7.45 - stepping
7.55 - teaching
8.30 - break for cake (Nic and Sue), info on joining the team (mailing list from Nikki, money from Rachel), ravens dance
8.45 - teaching
9.15 - displays
9.30 - pub (and encourage people to join!)
I want to plan to have 3 groups so that we can accommodate 6 - 15 people. If we have fewer than 6 we'll amalgamate the groups. The groups, assuming everyone can come, will be:
Teacher = Ffion, dancers = 1) Hannorah, 2) x, 3) x, 4) Sinead, 5) Sue
Teacher = Rachel, dancers = 1) Jo, 2) Janet, 3) x, 4) x, 5) Josie
Teacher = Lindsey, dancers = 1) Aisha, 2) x, 3) Nic, 4) x, 5) katherine
We'll try and teach every group these figures, with the option of adding extra DERT dance figures depending on how well it's going:
Walk on, step in 4s, clash
Single guard in 8s
Open ring for glass into haymarket
Moving fixy
Lock
Fourth corner
Outward facing ring and 5 person lock to finish
Does anyone have access to numbered bibs, perhaps from a sports team? These would be useful for marking out numbers when we display the dance. If not we can improvise with paper, a marker pen and safety pins!
See you on Sunday / Monday,
Ffion x
I know we're no morris side, but would we wish to represent ourselves thus? (And to point out that there are other forms of traditional English dance)

Subject: Museum of Folklore asking for Morris Dancer
costumes
I’ve seen this on Facebook and the MDDL. Perhaps the
team wants to participate?
"The Museum of British Folklore has launched a new
initiative to represent the wide variety of Morris sides within the UK. Any
teams wishing to take part will be sent a blank figure to decorate with their
team kit. The idea being that over time, the collection will grow into an
original and unique visual record created by the people who participate in the
dance. "

Hi all,
Well done last night - we did some good work and I'm looking forward to dancing both dances at the weekend.
I realised I didn't give you any more information about the Iranian event we've been invited to dance at at SOAS. The event is 7-10pm in the main SOAS lecture / performance hall on Saturday 14 December. The first half is Iranian music and the second is more diverse, including some sets from some of the ceilidh band members. No fee but we can do a collection.
If you need any more information let me know and I'll go back to Peyman. If you don't need any more information please fill in your availability on the sheet asap!
Thanks,
Ffion x
Hey all,
Sorry for this being last minute but I've not been well the past few days, the same reason why I didn't come to the dance out last Wednesday (I sent Ffion a text, hope you got it). I'm just very headachey, dizzy, feeling a bit faint and generally not in a state to dance rapper!
Good luck with the dance out this weekend! Hopefully I'll be back again Monday, missed dancing rapper too much this summer for this!
Again, sorry!

Morning all,
If you've got time today please could you:
1) Invite all of your friends to the workshop - it will be good to have an idea of how many people we can expect to turn up. It's on facebook but if you've got non-facebook friends who might like to come the details are - 7 October, 7.30-9.30pm, St Michael's Church Cornhill, free workshop, no experience necessary.
2) Fill in your availability for the two new proposed cinquefoil day dates. We decided none of the ones they proposed would work so we should have some dates we can do before we go back to them.
3) Fill in your availability for 14 December. Paymen, the man playing the santoor (Iranian zither) at the SOAS ceilidh has inited us to come and dance a Persian festival he's putting on at SOAS. No fee but we can do a collection as on a crawl. I can ask him for more info but won't bother if the date doesn't work for people.
See you all later!

Hi guys,
I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it to practice on Monday. I realise that this will mean I'll be a little rusty will the dance but I do still intend to come to Tenterden on Saturday.
See you there.

Hi all,
Great to see so many people at practice last night :-) We've reborrowed Thrales' swords in case there are enough for 2 teams again next week.
We've also reborrowed the swords because, as part of our new academic year recruitment drive, we've decided to hold a rapper workshop on 7 October. Rachel is going to set up a facebook event so please invite all of your friends!
See you tomorrow / next Monday,
Ffion x
Hi Guys,
We are meeting at The Jack Horner from 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. Ben a Manager there has reserved a table for us. The address is 234 Tottenham Court Road. The nearest tube station is Goodge Street.
See you there,
