Hi all,
The crawl availability spreadsheet has now been updated after yesterday's
discussion - Friday's crawl is cancelled and crawls from now on will be on
the last Thursday of the month. Get 30th May and 27th June in your diaries
now (or even better, put them all in for the rest of the year!) and don't
forget to sign up on the sheet.
The other thing that I was to mention was how much people owe me. I've
been lax and haven't done this for a little while, so there are some
amounts outstanding. As always, you can either give me cash or transfer
money straight to the bank account: account number 00380515, sort code
070246. And if you don't have a monthly subs direct debit, may I encourage
you to set one up?
Aisha - 24
Fred - 12
Janet - 12
Jo - 36
Josie - owed 4!
Nic - 20
Nikki - 39
Rachel - 24
Sinead - 8
If your name isn't mentioned above, it's because you don't owe anything.
Hurrah!
Nice to see those of you who were around on Monday and nice to be back
dancing after two weeks off.
Rachel :)
Hi all,
Below is a draft of the new dance with youtube videos for each of the figures. We'll discuss it tomorrow but if you can't be there and have any opinions please feel free to email them to me.
I didn't get enough interest in practising on 28 May so there will be NO PRACTICE on the week of the next bank holiday (week commencing 27 May).
According to the availability sheet we'd have to dance at the following positions for a crawl on Friday: 1 - me, 2 - Josie, 3 - Rachel, 4 - Sinead (and possibly Hannorah), 5 - Sue. This would mean a few of us dancing not in our first choice positions. If you have opinions on this please email them / bring them tomorrow.
It seems that Thursdays are better for getting a team together so I suggest we stick with the last Thursday of the month being our regular crawl night and that we start to decide who will be organising the route further in advance. Again, let's discuss tomorrow.
Here's the draft dance:
swords up as in beadnell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSKJ2JBOle4 0'00 - 0'29
single guard, back 8 into figure of 8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmls0mXnQ54 0'41 - 1'40
open ring into number 2 ring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv0t2beFm3k 1'20 - 1'25
display the lock as in swalwell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8-A9ZNEh5o&list=PL8F03B99BEF516B5C 0'35 - 0'42
coach and horses for Mary Anne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d03cFvNv8U 1'35 - 1'50
cramper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d03cFvNv8U 2'10 - 2'25
lock, nut, fast and loose, choker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1e7hI-OpKI 2'00 - 2'35
open ring into windmills, outwards facing ring, turn into lock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHftA7oqhfw 3'30 - 3'42

See you tomorrow,
Ffion x
Hi all,
At practice tonight we learnt a few new figures which will hopefully feature in our new dance - fast and loose into choker and windmills.
There weren't many people at practice tonight but several of us aren't able to practise on Tuesday 28 May (the day after the next bank holiday). Please write and tell me asap if you can and want to practise on that day. If I get 5 dancers saying yes by THIS FRIDAY we'll practice. If not, we won't.
Please please please can everyone fill in the availability spreadsheet? At the moment we're not able to commit to several things like the next crawl and winstable because we don't know if we'll have enough dancers. Follow this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvM6rY7GMmOGdF9vYVIwaXBmXzViSz…
See you in just 6 days time,
Ffion x
I won't be joining you sadly, but I will update my availability on the dates spreadsheet (sorry for not doing earlier).
If we have enough people for a crawl on 17th May, does anyone have a location in mind?
Can I suggest Shoreditch, Soho or Holborn/Russell Square/Gt Ormond St.
If we go for the latter I can source pubs in my lunchbreak, if we go for either of the first two I might need a bit of help with calling round places.
Just let me know the general consensus.
Hx

Hi all,
We had an interesting practice last night - 4 dancers and 2 musicians! We managed to do some good work on stepping though and then had a good chat in the pub about future dances. We decided we should keep the DERT dance as it is at the moment while we develop our other dance and then to make a few more adjustments to the DERT dance to make it even more flashy and exciting.
We also decided that we should name our dances after tube lines. When the DERT dance is further developed we'll call it the jubilee dance. I have several ideas about how I'd like to develop the DERT e.g. start with something more unusual which uses several types of stepping in the first few phrases, add that star and shadow figure in that's a bit like two half mary annes and end it ready for a tumble, tidy up the bit after the spin, maybe change fourth corner to tits.
However, I think we should try and work on the other dance collaboratively so I'd like to hear which figures you'd all like to put in it. I'll try and send round some youtube clips of options this week but if you find anything interesting, or if there's a figure from the original dance you really liked, please let me know! Please bear in mind that we want this other dance to be easier than the jubilee dance so it's suitable for absolute beginners who might join in the future. We also want it to be suitable for dancing outdoors at festivals so figures which are pretty, don't rely on speed to work well and which look good from all angles would be ideal.
On a more practical note, we won't practise on the May bank holidays. However, we WILL definitely practise next Tuesday 7 May. Do we also want to practise on Tuesday 28 May? The hall is free if we want it.
Please add your availability for dance outs onto the spreadsheet. We need to make decisions about some of the possible bookings very soon. If you can't work it out either ask Lindsey / Rachel for help or bring your diary next Tuesday.
See you then,
Ffion x
Aaahh! I can't make it either, sorry folks. Moving always takes longer than expected. Have a fab practice.
Love Nic xxx

Hi,Sorry for the late notice but I can't get to practice tonight. I thought I'd make it but I'm really dizzy. I can give the kit back if we've got a practice on tuesday, or I'm planning to come up to London on Saturday if it's needed before then.Best,Sinéad

Hi all
Please see attached for pub route for this coming Thursday.
If anyone fancies dinner first, I was thinking Masala Zone on Parkway (25 Parkway, London NW1 7PG). It's quick and easy food and near the first pub. I'll be there from 6pm.
Ravens Love,

Hi all,
Just a quick reminder to those of you who are less efficient to go and sign
up on the Google spreadsheet for your availability for various things.
Those of you who don't have your own Google account, you can also access it
through towerravensrapper(a)gmail.com.
And if you are totally confused / terrified of the idea, bring your diary
on Monday and we can write you in :)
Thanks!
Rachel
