Hello all,
Absences: Clare and Emma H, I believe everyone else is coming?
Clog: 7-7.30 Might continue the experiment of Jo at the front to get the cogs working fast enough to make the brain correspond. Continue to get the new dance in our heads and actually working.
If anyone has anything they want to do in particular please let me know!
Rapper: If possible we will continue Emma through at 2 in jubilee and Fliss and Jo through 1 and 4 in Piccadilly.
We'll also have a small stint at popcorn and start breaking it down a bit more stylistically as various people raised this as a problem figure!
Remember to sign up<https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…> to stuff! In particular the album launch and the AGM!
Anything you want to work on please let me know,
Becky xx
Hi All,
Thanks for the all the sign-ups on Monday!
*More info on events:*
*Whittlesea* for those that missed Becky's description, we would be able to
dance mostly inside, but would be good to join in the parade and mass dance
as well (might wear long sleeve T's for a bit of extra warmth as kit!!)
There is a ceilidh on Saturday night and then there is more dancing at a
Sports Hall on the Sunday followed by the burning of the Straw Bear. We'd
go up early on Saturday morning. If you could only do one day, please add
that to the sign up sheet - it's looking at the mo like we might be
Saturday only.
*Man the Lifeboats* - the whole event runs 1930-2300 and sounds like the
current plan is for a dance at the start and then one before Man the
Lifeboats start though they are flexible with it (there are 2 support acts
and possibly a Morris team). Offer of a few drinks at least! This is 17th
October, so decisions soon would be helpful.
*New Invite*: *Ossett Beer Cart* 5-7th June 2020. We've been once before -
you help pull the beercart around the town and then dance at various spots
in town on Saturday including in the pubs ('cos rapper) - they also have a
"Rapper Dance Off" as of last year and are hoping to repeat with one team
signed up already. On Sunday morning dancing at a tourist spot. Camping
available (think this is usually the cricket club). First come first served
on teams.
*Other stuff:*
Goathland Plough Stots are doing the three peaks challenge next weekend
(21st September), and are doing a dance on each summit, to raise money for
Childhood cancer. If you would like to make a personal donation you can do
so here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/folkythreepeaks
Sign-up sheet here as always:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Katherine - anyone else please let me know! Ellie I know you're leg isn't great so just let me know if you'd rather not come.
We do have Hannah N's colleague Emma coming back this week 🙂
Clog at 7: I think we just have to keep doing the new clog. It might be a nice thing to perform at the Sunday of Thrales day? But I'd want us to be confident enough to try it as there will be clog dancers about (very supportive ones mind).
Rapper 7.30-9.30
We'll run through Jubilee with Emma in the set and Piccadilly with Fliss and Jo in the set. For the latter we'll go over what we did last week and, if possible, press on to the next section.
It would be really good to get some feedback on what people would like to work on. We've got to quite a good place with people knowing multiple dances and multiple positions but if there is any "personal development" type stuff that people would like now is a great time to raise it. I'm emailing a couple of people, but if you have ideas of stuff you want to do please get in touch. I'm not psychic!
Last but not least, thanks so much for having us yesterday Sue! It was lovely to have a chance to do some relaxed dancing and just spend some time together without festival pressures 😄
Remember to attack the sign up sheet! https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4… Remember we are not doing Dance Around the World at C#.
See you later,
Becky xx
Hi again,
For those who had crisps and dips from the stash can you wing me a pound? For those who also had burgers/chicken on a stick could you make it more like £2?
All much appreciated!
(Martin I know you provided sausages, I don't know if you want anything from people? I figure the two of us call it quits?
Thanks,
Becky xx
Hi All,
This Sunday we have *Sue's street party! Meet at 12 in The Capitol *(Spoons
very close to Forest Hill station). The plan is to hit some pubs in Forest
Hill before heading over to the party ready to dance at 3pm.
We are then welcome to stick around at the party, there will be some food
on the street as well, and Sue will be lighting up the BBQ in the early
evening. BYOB (though Sue has some Prosecco) and please bring something to
put on the BBQ - I think Sue said she'll be making some salads.
If arriving for 12 is an issue, please let Becky/me know.
Thanks to everyone for filling in the sign-up sheet - our Autumn sign-ups
are looking much healthier! The one we could do with a bit more on is the *Step
Ceilidh Party on 16th November*. It would be great to do this, but at the
mo we are reliant on the no-replies and maybes to have a team.
*Whittelsey Straw Bear *will need to know if we are coming by 1st October,
so please fill yourself in for this one as well. We'll try and get a bit
more info as well.
*New Invites:*
*- 17th October - Man the Lifeboats* album launch in the Water Rats (near
Kings Cross). Ellie is getting more info on this, but likely to be a dance
and free drinks!
- I have also added the *AGM* date of *11th November* to the sign-up sheet,
please take this as it officially being called. More info/Agendas etc.
nearer the time.
*Events which are not happening: *
*- Dance around the World *- people just don't seem keen (unless you all
put yourselves down as yeses today!).
- The *crawl on 31st October will be cancelled* - am trying to work out a
different date at the mo, which is proving tricky given our other events.
*AOB*:
- If you haven't filled in Emma's *Whitby expenses* spreadsheet please do
so, she will be chasing soon.
- *Kit*: I think Miriam, Rachel-Anne, Jo and Clare (T-shirt only) are the
only people that haven't got it yet, you should be able to get this on
Sunday, or can arrange to get it from me after that. Emma will be in touch
about costs for kit and getting that in.

Thanks,

Hi All,
What. A. Week! Hope you all got back ok and are recovered/ing from a week
of dancing. We've had loads of fabulous responses online and during the
week while we were there, so fair to say we made an impression and lived up
to our collecting reputation. We've had a some photos sent through to us
from Robert Townsend, including some from the dance on the boat - I'll try
and gather these together at some point as they ended up in multiple emails
and pop them in a folder on the GDrive so we have them in stock.
Now that the summer of all the festivals is over, we now have plenty coming
up for the Autumn and beyond. 🍁
There are some new events below along with some that really really need you
to check your diaries and give and answer for - Bath Time and Thrales Day
being the main ones - please change to a yes or a no.
The next thing on the sign-up sheet is *Sue's Street Party on 8th September*,
which will be after our next practice 2nd Sept. If you could come armed
with any info next Monday Sue that would be fab!
While we were away and over the last couple of days, we've had some more
invites coming through, so please take a look at them below (in
chronological order) and fill yourselves in on the sign-up sheet.
*Stepping On Conference, Step Ceilidh Party on 16th November*
(evening). Rapper spot as part of the Step Ceilidh party (something between
a ceilidh (focussing on dances with a stepping content) and a number of
short step and clog dance performances mostly from delegates at the
conference, probably also opportunity for jamming steps as well). Will and
Martin (Brown Boots) will be the band and Kerry Fletcher the MC.
*Strawbear 17-19th January 2020* Dance displays on both weekend days -
Saturday looks to be 1030-1530, there is a concert and a ceilidh in the
evening (will need to buy a ticket for these) and other things throughout
the day. There is also indoor camping available at £7.50 a night. We need
to get back to them by 1st October so please sign up asap. Becky and a
couple of others have been before, so am hoping we can talk about it a bit
more on Monday, sounded like there might be potential to ensure we can do
some pub dancing. It's about 1hr 30 from Kings Cross, which may make it
easier to do a day trip if that's what we would like to do.
*Saltburn Folk Festival* - 14th-16th August 2020. Just up the coast from
Whitby, takes about 3.5hrs on the train via Darlington.
They can offer us free accommodation. There is a train station in Saltburn,
but if we need lifts from the Station then they are happy to oblige. There
are 2 main dance sessions 11-4 on Saturday and Sunday and there is a
ceilidh on the Saturday night with dance spots - it's up to us how much we
go for, though given the travel time, I would suggest doing the whole
weekend with an aim to leave early on the Sunday to get home at a
sensible-ish time.
*Finally we still have no replies and maybes for:*
- *September Crawl* - as a bonus Rachel Anne is organising it and intending
to celebrate the end of her course if that's an incentive.
-* Bath Time!* 26th October, if it helps you decide I am intending to turn
down the Dance around the World invite as I think most people would prefer
to go to Bath Time. There are quite a lot of you in the maybe and no reply
boxes - I was going to name and shame, but a few too many! Please move to
yes or no, I will be chasing on Monday.
- *Thrales Birthday weekend* - looking better, but would be helpful to have
those last responses in. As it is in London, it doesn't matter if you can
only do part of it, but please say if that is the case. (I'm looking at
Miriam, Emma, Ellie and Joanna for this one)
FYI - I've declined the Lewes festival on 12th October as they have been
chasing us and we just don't have enough people, so feel free to take that
one out of your calendars.
Sign-up sheet here as always:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Have a lovely week and see you soon!
Thanks,

Folky three peaks
Hello
Sorry for the blanket email, I hope this doesn’t make it feel less personal
but it was the best way I could think of to reaching out as far as
possible!
I hope this email finds you well and you and your team have enjoyed plenty
of summer outings! Please could you pass this email onto your members.
I guess for those of you who know the Plough Spots, this email and the
nature of us being cheeky will not be a surprise!
For those of you reading who do not know the Plough Stots we are a
longsword team based on the North Yorkshire Moors. Probably as famed for
our drinking as we are for our dancing.
On this occasion though we are doing something a little different from our
normal hobble between dance spots and the next pub!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This horrible disease is
something that has recently rocked our close knit community in Goathland,
and we want to do our bit in raising money to help fight the disease and
raise awareness.
On Friday 20th of September 2019, a team of 9 Plough Stots will be packing
a minibus and heading up to Scotland. The plan is that the following day,
Saturday 21st of September 2019, we will be taking on the challenge of the
National Three Peaks (23 miles of walking, 3064 foot of accent and 462
miles of driving) as we climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and
Wales within a 24 hour time limit! To add an extra challenge, we plan to
complete the whole event in our dancing kit (complete with swords and
instruments!) and perform our figures at the top of each peak!
We are quite sure this hasn’t been done before, and are very excited to be
able to say we will have danced on the highest points in the UK, while
raising money and awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
This is were we need your help, as we would love you to help spread the
word. Not only about the challenge, but about Childhood Cancer Awareness
Month.
We would greatly appreciate any support you can give, and if you could
sponsor us for the event, simply the cost of a pint would help us along the
way to our target.
All money raised will going to our chosen charity, The Children's Cancer
and Leukaemia Group.
Thank you for taking the time to ready the email, and any donations would
be greatly appreciated.

Subject: [TR Committee] Travel Update!!
To:
Hi All,
For anyone travelling by car to Whitby from the West (on A64 from M1)
please be aware that the traffic is heavier than usual due to Countryfile
Live being at Castle Howard from now until Sunday. If possible it's best to
avoid the A64 as there are tail backs to York, and possibly beyond, which
can add up to an hour and a half to your journey!
Please can you let your teams know.
Many thanks,
