Hello all,
To reiterate where we need to be Friday/Saturday! If anyone has a good way to print that'd be appreciated, my version doesn't have Hillsborough or Yellow Arch on it!
I also created this document with times, buses/walking times as well as bus numbers we need to get and how long they'd take in comparison.
My sense of direction is poor, the more people helping with where to go next the better!
BOOM let's go!

Hi All,
DERT is nearly here! A few bits of info before you unleash your excitement.
It's going to be quite long, so grab a bevvy if you need to help you get
all the way to the end... Are you excited yet?!
First up some logistics, then a kit reminder and links to other useful
things.
Weekend forecast for Sheffield looks to be dry, max of 10C min of 3C.
*Friday*
*Travel:*
Firstly, those travelling up in the evening please meet at Kings Cross
under the departure boards (somewhere between Starbucks and Leon) at 1815
ready to go. The train leaves at 1833 and I won't be waiting for anyone
that misses it... We arrive at 2103, so bring whatever you need to keep
yourself entertained for 2.5 hours, e.g. food, ginnies (tinnies but with
Gin), puzzles, inflatable elephants...whatever really
If you said you have a railcard - don't forget to bring it! Laura should be
bringing the hoodies and T-Shirts, so please help her carry these!
Everyone else, we'll see you there!
*Accommodation:*
We are staying in Sheffield Central Travelodge (S1 2BQ) which is about 10
mins walk from the train station.
The rooms are booked under the following peoples names, this doesn't mean
you have to stay in these rooms - I'll leave those of you not staying with
a partner to decide who you're sharing a room with - there should be three
triples between you all. One of the triple rooms we'll need to hand over to
Ffion and Patrick as they didn't originally have a room booked for both of
them (unless any other couple wants that one) - should be able to work this
out when we arrive in the evening though. Any problems, just phone me -
though am sure it will all be fine.

This is where the indoor camping will be - people will be able to arrive
from 5pm to set up their sleeping stuff etc. I'll leave it to those of you
arriving earlier to coordinate when you want to arrive later on.
King Edward VI school, Glossop Road, S10 2PW. From our travelodge this is
about a 20 min bus journey or a 35 minute walk.
*Saturday*
Our warm-up dance is at 1010 in The Church House. We don't have breakfast
at the Travelodge, so we can go to spoons if we get up in time - it's a 5
min walk away in the direction of Pub No.1. We do need to make sure that we
all eat something before starting dancing whether this is from
Spoons/Greggs/Tesco/Sainsbury is less important so long as you have enough
- can decide times on Friday.
Spotlight is then our first dance at 11. Last dance will be back at The
Church House at 1540. Trad will be at 1845, but we should arrive for the
start at 1745, possibly having bought some food on our way to it to eat
during the showcase. The hope is that we can find a couple of pubs on the
way to the trad to have a warm-up. Showcase starts at 1910 in the Cathedral
- we dance at 2046. Results at 2200.
For more info, see links below.
Bear in mind what Becky said about drinking on Monday - i.e. have one
before dancing, and up to you after that, but don't get too pissed if you
still have dances coming up. Enjoy yourselves - it's going to be a great
day! :)
*Sunday:*
We need to check out by 12
Suggest Spoons for breakfast as we usually do...
There is usually a workshop run by the winning team, which is then followed
by the DERT meeting. I think Becky and I are intending to go to the
meeting, feel free to join if you wish. This will be over in the school.
Home on whichever train you are booked. If I've bought your ticket, I'll be
handing them over Friday evening when I see you.
*Kit etc.*
As Becky said on Monday, make sure your kit is clean. Please don't put
skirts/sashes/petticoats in the washing machine though. If any of these
need cleaning a bit of a sponge is probably fine - sashes this needs to be
a dry as possible sponge. If in doubt ask Sue (also if I've written
anything incorrectly here, please correct me Sue!).
Polish your shoes - I'll have some with me in case, but easiest to do it
beforehand if you can. I think Ffion is buying some new shoelaces, if yours
are looking threadbare, might be time for some new ones!
I think both Westerhope and Piccadilly teams all have new tops and tights -
so please remember to bring them with you.
Have a think about the best way to keep hair tidy - Piccadilly crew don't
forget the skull hair bobbles.

you want to see it:

Becky created this lovely map of our route during the day:

There was also an email Becky sent with our timetable written out - we
should get a programme though, which will give us all the info we need.
Congratulations for making it all the way down to here! Any questions let
me know and I'll do my best to answer them.
See you in 2 days time!! It's going to be awesome!

Hi All,
Coming up this week we have two crawls! Westerhopers - you're up tomorrow,
Hannorah has sent out all the deets. Piccadilly on Friday, Laura will let
us know soon...
EGM/Party - we decided last night that we will do this the day after DERT
(26th March) - I am intending to send the Agenda around for this tomorrow.
Watch this space... I didn't quite manage to write down all the people that
said they'd b able to make it, so if you can fill yourselves in on the
sign-up sheet that would be much appreciated so that we can double check
that we will be at quora (looked like we would be though!)
Sign-ups - thanks for letting me know about Faversham Hop Festival. Looks
like the Sunday should work fine. The next one I am being chased for is
12th May Brockwell Park. The person organising this seems to be incredibly
keen to have us as we weren't able to make it last year. I appreciate this
is the same weekend as another one so if you would rather only do one
please make it clear on the sign-up sheet - and fill in both so I can
figure out what we can do over the weekend. It might be that if we have the
people and enthusiasm we can do both and not necessarily need anyone to do
both days unless they want us to...
I've also added dates for some crawls after DERT...
Sign-up sheet here, as always:

Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everyones continued hard work and enthusiasm! Both dances are looking really good, music sounds great, both character acts for each dance looking confident.
Westerhopers have fun on the crawl on Wednesday, we know you'll have plenty of space on the day so probably don't need to worry about small spaces to practice in or anything. I'm sorry I won't be there, my old lady knee needs more of a sit down than a crawl would allow! Dance hard, have fun, remember to allocate someone/ some people to collect at the end of each dance. I won't be there to chivvy from pub-to-pub so please listen to Hannorah/Emma when they want you to move!
Piccadillyers enjoy a couple of days rest ready to head out on Friday, videos of yesterdays dance look really strong!
Next week: as it is the last Monday before DERT I don't intend to do too much dancing. For Piccadilly I'll try and make a summary of any little things for each person to remember, and then we'll dance a couple of times - Emma you might want to do the same, I suppose it depends a bit on which Hannah will be around on the day. From experience the last Monday involves us making really random mistakes that worry us, even though we never normally do them. Any last sashes which need sparkling please bring them and make sure they're done. We'll confirm where we are staying in Sheffield and going to the evening venue etc. any questions please have them ready/email me or Hannah in advance.
POSTCARDS - I mentioned putting a postcard on each judges desk - turns out South Kensington doesn't have tacky London shops with suitable postcards so if anyone happens to be near one please keep an eye out and messgae if you've found something suitable! It needs to have someone that looks like Sue/Paul and ravens on. If no-one finds any I'll have a jaunt to the Tower as they're bound to have some in their gift shop or nearby.
EGM agenda to come out soon now that we've confirmed when we're having it
Thanks all!
Becky
Hello all,
Thanks for all the hard work yesterday. Both teams seem to have narrowed any problems down to tiny last bits to work on and both dances are looking great!
Tonight we will start with stepping and then the DERT set will spend about 10 minutes trying to figure out the end of needles as we got a bit stuck yesterday.
Then for the rest of the first half Hannah N will work on 3 in Westerhope in case of emergency filling in. Obviously if more time is needed then this can carry on into the second half of practice! Meanwhile I want remaining DERT set and Rachel to look at the triangle lock and, if possible maybe dance some of it with Rachel at 4 (but slower than normal!). I can't remember if Rachel has covered 4 before, I know she's normally 5 so, depending on that we'll either focus on needles and tits or try and run through the whole thing slower a few times.
Second half we'll divide into the two teams to continue normal practicing. I think from Piccadilly point of view it would be helpful to run through a few times with the musicians and characters all doing their thing.
Sue and Paul if you can spend the first half working out any tommy points you have so that you feel a bit more certain by the time we get to running through that'd be ace.
Again, thank you for the continued hard work everyone!
Becky
