TOWER RAVENS SIGN UP SHEET 1st April 2017 (no really) - Katherine’s Wedding - Leeds Afternoon dancing at a pub with other teams plus a ceilidh spot in the evening (LS2 9NG). Happy to organise a crawl if people are arriving in the morning. You are welcome to bring +1s, evening food will be provi...
No response is: Hannorah, Kate D, Laura S, Rachel, Reesha, Sue
Just a couple more and that will let me know [😊]
Thanks,
Becky
P.s. remember it's also the post dert partay!
No! It's a cake that almost looks like a sheep. The detail like ears and wool pattern haven't come out but once it's got some frosting and white chocolate chips over its back I think it should look ok. I'll obviously cut the bottom off too so it can stand up.
I've also printed a load of stickers. Please help distribute them to punters, dancers and of course the Alt Judges once we get there. Hannorah, shall we use them as incentives to get people to donate at the shopping centre too?

Hello all!
Firstly well done on the final outing last night, I thought Westerhope was looking great [😊] just remember to look confident! We're planning to have dance Westerhope as part of the Crook challenge, this'll be a bit dependant on what the setup is like but I'll emphasise now that it's a case of one set off one set on and get on with it!
Reminders:
Shiny shoes
Kit clean and presentable, ideally 60 denier tights (DERT set have ours from Primark and found them reasonable although would recommend a pair of black pants to make sure they don't travel South!
Hair - do whatever prep you need to do (straighten etc) please bring bobbles, clips, spray or anything to keep it in place. I will be making up a load of clips with feathers so we'll have them to put in too.
Please bring plasters and safety pins, you can never have too many, also if anyone has business cards it can be worth having them with us just in case.
Hannah please remember your set of swords, if possible give them a clean just so they're all in the best nick.
Drinking! As said yesterday I want people to enjoy DERT and I'm planning on having a couple of drinks to dull the nerves and perk me up a bit. Please do this at a sensible rate, there's no point us messing up because someone drank more than they can handle. Westerhope set apologies in advance that you're not on until 7 but the same rule applies to you. Showcase I see as a different kettle of fish although again hopefully no rolling onto the performance!
Arrivals:
There are a small batch of us arriving in Kendal around 5.30, our plan is to go straight to the hostel and check in.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Kendal+Hostel/@54.3288378,-2.7477924,15…
As far as I know that is me, Ffion, Laura S and Jo. Prior to this will be Sue, Hannorah and her sister, and Rachel. If you're in the area I will be assuming that you will be coming to the hostel in order to get fairly settled and then head out at six for tea. Kate and Paul I'm not sure, will you be with us? I don't want to leave anyone behind! I will endeavor to send a message out on whatsapp about where we end up which will hopefully gather us all up.
We will then go onto the Friday night social which is at Kendal school (a little further South than our hostel). I know that Reesha, Laura W and Paul, and Hannah are all arriving more like 9.30 -with the idea to go to the evening venue to pick up access to hostel, wristband etc.
Beds:
We seem to have a bajillion beds divided over three rooms as so:
1 room = 11 singles
2 room = 1 double and 3 singles
3 room = 1 double and 5 singles
I at this point have 6 for quiet, 2 for middling, and 8 for stay up late but with some debate re. snoring which I'll be honest I can't quite remember! I would suggest louder people go in the 11 singles, with the other two rooms reserved for quieter sleeps. Maybe snorers can be shoved in the smaller room as I seem to think there were less of them??
Let me know if you need anything in the meantime, looking forward to seeing you all for an awesome weekend [😃]
Becky xx
Hi all,
Just to remind you what we agreed yesterday: Meet at St Michael's at 7.30
as normal, but in Westerhope DERT kit. 1 hour's practising, followed by 3
pubs (which Hannorah is finding - thanks Hannorah!).
Westerhope DERT kit is: shoes, tights, normal skirt (no petticoat), sash,
normal tshirt, black blouse, blue tie, badge. If you don't have a tie or
badge yet, don't worry as Kate and Laura S will be bringing spares.
Non-Westerhope people, please come too! You can be supportive or critical
:)

PS Hannah has also asked me to remind anyone that didn't bring their sash
yesterday to bring it on Monday so it can have extra sparkles added.
Our collection from last week's crawl has risen to £208.50 because I was able to pay the USD and Euro notes into the bank.
Well done everyone!

(And Simon's, I suppose)
Please could everyone meet at *Kings Cross at 1115* so that we can hand out
tickets and find our seats. See meeting point on the map below. I'll get
there early and will be standing somewhere in that area near the ticket
barriers/ticket office/ticket machine /oliver bonas.
The train leaves at 1135 and if anyone is not there in time, then I'm
afraid we will leave without you and you will need to sort yourself out on
the next train. (Rachel, obviously you've sorted yourself, so this doesn't
apply to you)
The train arrives at 1348, so if you would like lunch before then, it's
probably a good idea to take some with you.
When we arrive we'll go and check in to the Ibis (Leeds City Centre) -
10-15 minute walk. We'll then go and meet Thrales by 3pm (hopefully) in Mr
Foley's Ale House (LS1 5RG) - they are meeting from 2.30 so we could go
earlier. The key things is we will start dancing at 3.30 and then go on a
crawl to some (probably not all) of the following (Tom Richardson will be
our guide):
Cutherbert Broderick (LS1 3HJ)
Dry Dock (LS2 3AX)
Fenton
Pack Horse
Eldon
Library
These will take us towards the venue (The Faversham) where there will be
some dancing between 5 and 7pm. We will be dancing Picadilly and probably
Westerhope if everyone is happy with that (Rachel would be 2) during the
day and will then do a Picadilly in one of the interval spots at the
ceilidh with Katherine and Becky - I think Becky said that this will
probably be either at the start or about half an hour into the ceilidh.
Feel free to bring something else to wear - there's no need to wear kit all
evening for the ceilidh and disco, unless you really want to! :)
Sunday morning, we need to be out by 10 so will go and find somewhere to
have brunch then before catching the 1205 back to London. Might well be
'Spoons as there's one right outside the station...
See you at Kings Cross! (or on Monday if you're not coming)
Hope I haven't forgotten to mention anything vitally important!

Hi everyone,
Attached is the info from Crook Morris about the day if you want to know
any details. It includes links to various items on the dert 2017 website (
http://www.dertinfo.co.uk/), such as timetables, maps etc. Becky will
collect our wristbands and sort all that lot out. There will be more info
next week, but just a couple of things ready for you to think about this
week - most importantly BREAKFAST!
1. Hostel (and breakfast)
2. DERT Bake-Off
3. Stickers!!
4. Brief outline of the Saturday timetable
*1. Hostel* - we are staying in the Kendal Hostel (
http://www.kendalhostel.com/) which is only about a 15 minute walk tops
from the station. On Sunday we will go to Spoons or something for brunch,
so we decided yesterday to only ask for breakfast on Saturday morning. The
consensus was a "simple" breakfast which includes Cereals, Bread/Toast,
Jams and Preserves, Fruit, Fruit Juice, Tea and Coffee would be fine,
though if anyone would like a Full English I can order these (it will only
cost an extra £3 for anyone that does want it) - so far Hannorah and the 2
Pauls would like the Full English. *If anyone else would like a Full
English, please get back to me by Friday 12 noon* as I need to contact the
hostel to book them. (Simple will be the default, and I will book as many
as are actually staying in the hostel - think we have one or 2 spare beds,
am recounting this week.)
Hannorah - did you say your sister is staying on Friday? (Breakfast
purposes :) )
*2. DERT Bake-Off*
I think we are sort of obliged to enter something given we forgot to take
our cake bribe for the AJ's last year... Seemed like there were some
suggestions of making a Kendal Mint Shot cake thing with actual shots and
maybe arranged to look like a rapper set. Possibility of gluten free. So,
we need someone to bake or at least someone willing to carry the creation
to DERT and put it on the judging table by 9pm on the Friday night (or both
- if evening people would like to bake, we'd need a carrier)... Volunteers?
Also any suggestions on developing this concept beyond my rather shaky
outline..
More info on this and the AJ competition here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/675344492568251/
*3. Stickers*
Ffion is printing stickers today - so if there was an idea that you thought
was especially amazing, please let her know (not sure when they were being
done today, so get comments in asap if you have any...)
*4. Saturday*
The day itself - I won't put too much information on here - save boring you
all until next, but if you would like more info please check out the dert
2017 website/the attached/ask me in case I happen to know the answer...
Warm-up dance 1030
Then we will be dancing at 5 pubs during the day with an additional spot at
the shopping centre where we have 10 mins to raise as much money as we can
for the Great North Air Ambulance (this is a side competition set by Crook
Morris) - so we can use this to run through the trad again as well as
Picadilly.
There is a reasonable gap between the end of the pub dancing and the start
of the evening do, so we'll be able to have a good dinner, relax a bit, run
through Westerhope and collect the second set of swords ready for the
evening.
In the evening, the Westerhope will be at 1945 - they are alternating trad
dances and showcase dances in the first half. Our double jubilee will then
be at 2100 towards the end of the second half.
I'll send some more info next week.
See you soon!
Hannah
