Hi all,
I currently have no absences!? Please let me know if you won't be there.
Clog at 7 as normal. Vaguely hoping we're getting close to being able to dance out. I'd like to be doing it by Warwick which is really only a few weeks away.
7.30 rapper
I want to confirm numbers for Saturday and do a run-through. I think we have numbers for all the dances (shocking!) but probably requires a run-through on some of them. Katherine this would require you to 1 in Piccadilly. I get it if you don't want to do that, just let me know.
Also looking ahead I want to confirm numbers for Warwick and anything people are nervous of so can start working through.
Work on triple jump in Westerhope. With the people we have we will not be doing this at Hammersmith but the closer we can get so we can do it by Whitby the better (again if we can do it by Warwick then great!).
Do some more detailed work on Piccadilly with HTD, Ellie and Tori.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Bit of a mega one this week, so grab a drink and settle in... there are
some actions required, so please try and read through everything and do
them.
*1. Coming up*
*2. Whitby*
*3. Warwick*
*4. Other sign-ups*
*1.Coming up:*
So, obviously we have *Kimpton* coming up this weekend, see the Kimpton
email for more info, hopefully you're all sorted now for transport
Then on 13th July, we have *Hammersmith day of dance*. Our first spot will
be at 1030 at the Swan outside Hammersmith tube station. More info and
meeting times next week. I think there are some *kit returns/transfers *to
do for that, so please make sure that these happen on Monday. Is there
anyone that will be short of kit for that day?
And then a crawl on 18th July - if you are a maybe for this, could you look
to confirm please?
*2. Whitby*
So.. *Camping* info, I've updated the spreadsheet as best I can with info,
if you are camping please look at this and let me know things like tent
size and car reg if you are going to be driving. I think there are quite a
few people who aren't listed as camping, as you didn't tell me about it
before. I know some people aren't around all week, but seeing as there are
only 2 people that definitely know this I've just left everyone as there
for the whole week.
For Beck Hole on the Wednesday we'll need to figure out a way to get there
as we can't get there by public transport, but we should definitely go. For
those that haven't been, various sword teams gather at an old school pub
and take turns to dance out the front of it. It's a lot of fun, and some
silliness is bound to ensue.. Pretty much a great rapper piss-up outside a
pub on the moors (there is also a sweet shop). [I may write a better
description some other time.]
Also, if anyone has any bright ideas for something special for our Friday
LNE, please do share! Would be good to be memorable as well as good.
So, most importantly - *travel!*🚂
Martin and I have booked onto the 1306 Kings Cross to York, the taking the
1547 York to Scarborough. This is the cheapest train available at the
moment on the day (we also went 1st class to York as it was only a little
more than the standard fare, and certainly a lot less than standard fares
at other times on Friday 17th). We aren't coming straight back to London,
but looking at the trains for the Saturday, it isn't quite as
straightforward to come home as there are no trains going to Kings Cross,
so you will need to go via Sheffield to St Pancras which will take an hour
or two longer than usual. There are various options, but what works out
cheaper will depend on your outward journey requirements. We're both happy
to help anyone with getting a good deal if you need it though!
There is also a Whitby bus ticket which may be a good option (we can
explain how to get it) - the Super Off Peak Return is simple if you want to
buy and not worry about details too much, but it is £85 with railcard -
better deals available if you are able to pin times down a bit more.
*Basically, please start to think about your travel arrangements and get
them sorted as soon as you can - it isn't actually all that long away now! *
*3. Warwick*
We've received the invoice for partner tickets, Emma should be in touch
about this soon..
We don't yet have timings for everything yet but in theory dancing may be
done around 4 on the Sunday, but I'd rather not commit an end time for you
all just yet just in case. if you want to take a look at trains though,
especially for going up, please do. Hopefully we'll have more info soon and
can coordinate this a bit better.
*4. Other sign-ups*
Otherwise, 7th July - *London Folk Festival*, would be good to
confirm/decline this asap. The info I had from Graham, was that he was
thinking spots during a session in the bar and in the main hall between
acts - he thought the latter would work well in the evening concert. So if
the time of day affects your decision please consider this.
I imagine Sue would also really like an answer on the *Pearfield Road
street party* on 8th September, so could you please look at this as well.
If you are a one or the other, please state your preference. If we don't
have a team, Sue will need to find another one.
There are plenty of other things on there for the Autumn, so feel free to
sign up to those too!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Finally in terms of those who don't have certain items of kit, I believe
Clare does not have a petticoat and sash, Fliss doesn't have a petticoat,
and nor does Hannorah (and may also have just lost sash...). Is there
anyone else who is missing kit?
Have a congratulatory biscuit for reaching the end!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
So we have Kimpton this weekend. Display spots will be turn and turn about
with Tappalachian (you'll be using their board to dance on). Spots are
1500-1530 at the Boot and 1615-1700 at the Green - see attached map. You
are all entitled to afternoon tickets which get you into the two afternoon
concerts in the hall and the afternoon concert in the church. If you need a
contact point, Bill Redway is the organiser and has provided his mobile
number, should it be needed: 07768 514109
The current plan is to get to Luton for 2, so at the Boot by about quarter
past which should give time to have a warm up dance inside before the first
spot if that works. Fliss has the swords and I think we sorted out enough
petticoats on Monday (I've forgotten who took one for you Hannorah, but we
should be good!).
Transport-wise, to be honest, I think this is slightly easier if either
someone going or all of you do a bit of coordinating between yourselves. So
far lift options are Luton and Stevenage, there isn't a bus form Luton to
Kimpton, so it doesn't really work for people to get a bus to the festival
and train home. The most sensible bus option to Kimpton is to go via
Hitchin or possibly Stevenage, and whilst there is a bus at 1736 this
involves to changes and goes via Watford, so the ticketing is a bit of a
pain. Overall, lifts sound much simpler. Hannorah / Clare, is Luton or
Luton Airport Parkway easier?
There are 9 of you going. Ffion and Patrick will be coming from Wales, so
probably best not to rely on them for lifts to Kimpton. So for the
remaining 7 people: Clare can pick 2 up from Luton and Hannorah can take 3
or at a push 4, so that's most of you sorted. Rachel can take one plus HTD
from Stevenage. So I think between those three that is everyone well
covered. To get to Luton for 2, I suggest taking the 1320 from St Pancras
(other Thameslink stations available) - return is £7.15 with railcard.
Trains are about every 15 mins, so you'll all be fine getting home.
The organiser could organise transport from Harpenden / reimburse some
taxis if we need - though if we need this we need to arrange asap, if this
is the case please let me know so we can get this sorted.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi all,
Absences: Emma, Hannorah and potentially Miriam dealing with her freezer!
On the plus side, we do have Ffion Yay 🙂
Let me know if you can't make it.
Also, I assume someone with keys is around at 7 and swords 7.30 (I have neither and it feels weird!
7: clog
7.30 rapper - we will be prepping for Kimpton (there aren't many of you going so need to be happy in positions!)
Kimpton numbers:
Jubilee-
1 Emma/Rachel
2 Fliss/Hannorah/Tori
3 HTD (sorry you're the only tumbler that day!!)
4 Hannorah/Ffion
5 Clare/Ffion/Emma/Rachel
Westerhope-
1 Rachel
2 Tori/Fliss
3 HTD
4 Hannorah/Clare/Emma (?)
5 Ffion/Rachel (if Ellie comes so you don't always have to do 1) Emma (?)
6 Ffion/Fliss/Hannorah
I've realised there is no tommy. It would be really nice if Pat could do some (Ffion can you broach?) Or if easier Hannorah 🙂 We know this can work from inside the dance as well as out. Clare also I get the impression you wouldn't mind doing a bit of shouting.
Let me know if any of those numbers are wrong
We'll also do Piccadilly work as this needs to be ready soon.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Just to double check, this is what I have down for Warwick tickets. Please
let me know if anything is incorrect asap. Hannorah - can you let me know
about the plus 1 please? Partner tickets are £45.
Ali
Becky (plus a ticket for Ken)
Clare
Ellie
Emma
Ffion
Hannah N
Hannah TD
Hannorah (checking plus 1)
Martin
Miriam (plus ticket for Ruth)
Patrick
Sue
Tori
Will
Thanks,
Hannah
Numbers for tonight, doing this v. quickly and pretty tired so sorry if any of this is wrong, should be a decent guide anyway! Sorry I can't be there, had a really intense and very long working day yesterday plus still recovering from a cold.
Jubilee
1 Rachel/Emma
2 Fliss/HN/HTS/ Hannorah
3 HN/HTD
4 Miriam/Ellie/Hannorah/Emma??
5 Rachel-Anne/Ellie/Rachel
Westerhope
1 Ellie/Rachel
2 Fliss/HN
3 HN/HTD
4 Hannorah/Emma
5 Miriam/Emma/ Rachel-Anne
6 Miriam/Hannorah/Fliss
Remember lots of collecting 😄
Becky xx
Hi All,
Thanks for bearing with yesterday, I think we managed to get through a fair
amount yesterday and should be all set for Thursday (I'll bring the swords).
1. Coming up...
2. Warwick
3. Cambridge
4. Kit
*1. Coming up*
Coming up this week, we will be *crawling in Brixton *on Thursday -
starting location TBC. Could we get a Facebook event up even though we
don't yet know where we're going? I think the people that don't exactly
have kit are Emma (skirt/sash/petticoat) and Rachel-Anne (petticoat/sash).
I think this is being sorted... but if not please shout!! We might have to
share petticoats a little on Thursday anyway.
Then we have *Kimpton on 6th July*, I'll give final details out next week,
but in the mean time, turn-and-turn about spots with Tappalachian 1500-1530
and 1615-1700. If you don't have kit / won't have it as you've given it to
someone else, can you please shout before next practice so we can sort it
out...
*2. Warwick* - final ticket info needed this week please. I think the only
outstanding people are* Hannorah and Will *on their plus 1's if they are
coming. Can you get back to me by the end of Thursday please? I'm going to
fill all this out on Friday morning.
*3. Cambridge* is all confirmed - I think Becky is just checking that Simon
Vaughn would like to and can make it, there didn't seem to be any
objections to this on Monday (we don't have Sue, so a Tommy would be
helpful). They provide up to a max of 16 passes and we're on about 13
already, I'm not completely clear from their email whether the other passes
could be non-dancers, but we might get away with a couple - obviously not
all of us can bring someone, and I think Rachel already asked for one for
Dan to help with the childcare?
Other events, please take a look at 7th and 8th September (London Folk
Festival / Sue's street party) - I'm sorry, I forgot to look at these on
Monday.
*4. Kit*
Could I ask that you all take a look at what kit you have at home and if it
isn't yours get it back to whoever you borrowed it from (neckers and pins
if any of these are still floating about to me please). If you don't have
any kit at all, can you let me know and I'll compile a list to compare with
what's underway already at Sue's. Then we can work out what is urgently
needed with all the festivals coming up. I'm now basically out of spare kit.
One other thing, do we know who took the petticoat from the spare kit bag
that Martin brought along last week? Ffion will need it for Kimpton, so if
it can make it's way there next weekend / to practice on Monday that would
be great.
Sign-up sheet here as always:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi Guys,
As you might have gathered from Whatsapp I'm not coming tonight, but Hannah now has the swords and keys so practice can go ahead.
Other absences: Fliss, Clare, Katherine, Sue, Laura (by the sounds of it)
7 Clog - Ellie you should have Hannah, Emma and Jo to be able to work on stuff. If possible do a quick run through of the old clog as we are forgetting about it!
7.30 - Rapper. Emma can you please lead stepping practice? Remember to include Earsdon!
Recommend having Tori try and tumble near the start (plus R-A if you want to?) Not sure if Hannah TD would like another go at the tumble other way around, also this week you should have the right numbers to have you and Hannah N tumble at once, which would be good practice.
I'd suggest working to make sure everyone is happy for Thursday crawl, which hopefully we are already. Please generally think about keeping the dances energetic and confident. If there is time to do a bit of work on spins that seems to be a weak point atm and they can be quite slow. If we have numbers for Westerhope can we confirm who 6 will be and make sure that can happen confidently as sometimes turns into a bit of a scramble.
Piccadilly: if possible please work on Piccadilly to continue to build confidence for Tori, Hannah TD and Ellie. We really need to progress with this, so whatever will help!
Hannah TD suggested continuing the good work on triple jump and, if possible, inserting into a dance? Obviously this depends on the right people being there and happy to do so. If you've got that please think about chorus, figure chorus first. Then if that seems confident build from there.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Deets here for tomorrow. Meeting at St George Inn by 1045 latest I believe
was Becky's call, though no harm in being earlier.
Hannorah - there's a link there for parking, apparently it can be a bit of
a challenge to park at times.
Looking sunny tomorrow, so as well as shoes that you don't mind getting
muddy on the way to Swan Lifeline maybe bring some suncream/shades just in
case (it will probably now rain now that I've said that...)
See you tomorrow!
(Did anyone not get sorted for kit on Monday?)

Dear BB and Tower Ravens,
First I must apologise that you are either getting this information very
late in the day, or possibly for a second time. There has been a small
hiccough in communications at the Windsor end.
Tomorrow's dance out is very definitely going ahead and we are all
delighted that you are both coming to join us in Windsor.
The day starts with a dance spot on the *Windsor & Eton bridge*. Everyone
will gather around The George Inn (SL4 6AF) in Eton from about 10:30am and
the dancing will start at *11am*.
Our second spot involves a walk along the river to *Swan Lifeline* (SL4
6SS) where we are going to perform at *12:30pm* as part of their open
afternoon. The walk and the swan sanctuary itself may be rather muddy so
you might like to consider bringing spare, sturdy, stain-resistant footwear
with you to preserve your dancing shoes.
Lunch, from 1pm, is not booked anywhere and Windsor offers a wide variety
of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose. The King and Castle Wetherspoons
on the High Street (SL4 1PL) is often popular with Windsor so you could
follow the crowd there or use the lunch break to explore a bit.
Dancing starts again at *2:30pm* outside the *Windsor Guildhall* (SL4 1PB).
The recently re-named Prince Harry pub is right next to the spot.
The final spot of the day is outside the *Two Brewers*, Park Street (SL4
1LB) from *3:30pm*.
Parking in Windsor can often be a bit of a challenge, so please advise
anyone who is driving to leave plenty of time to find a space. You can find
advice about car park locations and prices on the Borough website:
https://www3.rbwm.gov.uk/directory/25/car_parks_and_park_and_ride/category/…
Alternatively, both Windsor & Eton Riverside and Windsor & Eton Central
railway stations are a short walk from the first dance spot. There have
been strikes on the line into Riverside this week, so double check if those
will affect you.
The weather forecast looks very promising, so bring your sun screen and
prepare for enormous crowds!
Best wishes,
Kate
(Squire, Windsor Morris)

Hello all,
Can I confirm the below numbers are correct? In particular please consider 4 in Jubilee and 4,5,6 in Westerhope. If you're almost there with a number but would need some practice just let me know and can get you up to speed by this point.
Jubilee:
1 Becky/Katherine/ Jo
2 HN/HTD/Tori/Jo
3 HN/HTD/Becky
4 HN/ Katherine
5 Clare/Katherine
Westerhope:
1 Becky/Katherine
2 Tori/HN
3 HN/HTD
4 Clare
5 Katherine
6 Jo
Please reply by 8am Friday so I can respond to Cambridge. It's all a bit thin atm but workable as long as I haven't made anything up!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi everyone,
On Saturday we need to meet on Windsor and Eaton Bridge (or in the George pub) at 10.30 for an 11am start. Dancing should finish around 4pm when we can do a mini crawl. More details should be sent soon by Kate or Charlotte from Windsor morris.
Thanks,
Ellie
Hello all,
Windsor coming up this Saturday. Ellie is confirming the meeting place on Wednesday but obviously make sure you're in Windsor in time to start dancing at 11. We'll be out and about until 4 and then the plan is to do some pubs and have some food before heading back to the big smoke. Tickets are so cheap that these will not be refunded, if this is an issue please do talk to me/Emma and we'll get you sorted.
There are train issues so please check before travelling that a train exists and will get you where you need in the time you need it to!!
Thanks for letting me harass you about dates. Just as an FYI Cambridge is starting to look doable but I will confirm asap.
We also need to look at when we're needed to be at Warwick and start sorting tickets.
**Rachel can you look at Cambridge and Warwick asap as we need to confirm tickets.**
As always, the sign up sheet is here to update: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Absences: Hannah, Emma, Rachel, Fliss (maybe Katherine)
Let me know if I've forgotten you.
Clog 7 - 7.30
Tonight we'll look at running through some stuff for Saturday. Working some more on ideas around presentation. Working on getting new people through stuff.
Not sure we'll be able to work on sweeps for triple jump (I think of this as involving Rachel) but if we can do something that'd be good. As well as tumble for Tori and Rachel-Anne (anyone else??)
I'm also going to be chasing the sign up sheet in Hannah's absence. Feel the fear.
Anything else let me know,
Becky
Hi All,
First things first, if you aren't coming to Windsor on 22nd June, could you
please bring your kit to practice on Monday in the hopes that we can share
a bit of kit with those that don't yet have any/don't quite have a full set
yet. We're now quite limited in what's left in the spare kit - we're down
to a couple of skirts (probably in less useful sizes) and we can use
Ffion's petticoat for this one as well, but she will need it back for
Kimpton. I've asked Martin to bring these bits, but if you aren't going it
would be super useful if someone can borrow your kit!
Next week we have Windsor Morris Home Tour! Dancing is 11-4 with Windsor
and another couple of teams. We then proposed that we might go and do some
pubs on our own afterwards as we're there and then go somewhere for dinner
before coming home. It isn't far to Windsor, so if you could all sort
yourselves for tickets that would be greatly appreciated - though if you
need a buddy or two for a group save, please shout!
For trains, probably either the 0952 (or 0957) from Paddington, changing
at Slough and arriving at Windsor & Eton Central at 1017 (or 1036) or the
0928 from Waterloo (0932 at Vauxhall, 0938 Clapham) arriving at Windsor &
Eton Riverside at 1021. Industrial action may affect South Western Railway
that day, if it does and your preferred route is the Waterloo to Windsor &
Eton Riverside route please check this before you travel in case there are
cancellations. We should hopefully have a starting location soon - my
assumption for now is that wherever we are starting is reasonably close to
the station. Walk-up fares look pretty cheap £8.40 off peak day return with
railcard, so you can probably just buy on the day. We'll sort out meeting
points next week.
*So onto our festivals!!*
*Cambridge* - if you weren't there on Monday, or weren't sure, could you
please take a look at your diary and decide whether you can/would like to
go. from the looks of it it will be the weekend only, which they are happy
with. We will also be able to say how long we dance for at each spot -
there aren't other teams coming, we'll also get to do pubs!
*Warwick*, we now have slightly longer to sort tickets - until the end of
June, after which I think that really is it. We should probably start
sorting trains, but I think that is something for just after Windsor,
unless anyone is keen to sort themselves out. I know one or two people
asked about bringing someone, please remember that partner tickets are
subsidised to £45, so you will need to pay that at some point. I literally
just need names for this - so super easy. I will be arranging tickets for
all yeses and maybes, though it would be rather helpful if you are a maybe
if you could confirm? Any partner tickets that you'd like added either
email me, or whack them on the sign-up sheet. I'll email a final list on
Thursday 27th June for you all to review, so you have until then to get
sorted. Tickets will allow you onto site from Thursday evening should you
wish to be there then.
*Whitby* - We are going to be doing the Firday night LNE, if you can't make
that, please let Becky know. We will also be doing a workshop on the
Thursday - we think workshops are an hour. The suggestion on Monday was to
have a stepping focussed workshop looking at different types of stepping
and probably incorporating them into figures.
I know a few of you don't exactly have accommodation sorted, if that is you
and you need to camp, please let me know. I've attached what was sent, so
you can review your entry and then let me know any changes - I went on the
assumption that unless you told me otherwise that you didn't need camping
as a lot of us have a house to stay in one way or another. I would like to
do these all changes in one go as Melanie will have to make them now. She's
keen to know about camping as soon as we can. Car registrations will also
help speed up your arrival on the camp site if you are going by car.
Finally, don't forget other events, such as *Sue's street party* and
the *London
Folk Festival* In September, and then *Bath Time *and the *Dance around the
World Festival* in October that will also need your consideration. As ever
if you don't know, a maybe is preferable to a no reply... at least I know
you've taken a look at the sign-up sheet! ☺
Sign up sheet here for you all:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
First off: We've been asked to do the LNE spot at the final ceilidh of Whitby (around midnight). People I have on my list who might not be there at that point: Ellie, Miriam and Hannorah. Are any of those wrong? Is there anyone else. Please let me know asap.
Windsor, just to check the numbers for dancing. Let me know before Monday if any of that is wrong or if you need a runthrough:
Jubilee
1 Becky/Katherine
2 Fliss/ Hannah N/ Hannah TD/ Tori/ Hannorah
3 Becky/ Hannah N/ Hannah TD
4 Miriam/ Hannorah
5 Clare/ Katherine/ Fliss (Fliss please shout if you'd rather not dance that out yet!)
Westerhope
1 Becky/Katherine
2 Hannah N/ Tori/ Fliss
3 Becky/Hannah N/ Hannah TD
4 Clare/ Hannorah
5 Miriam/ Katherine
6 Fliss/ Miriam/ Hannorah (again Fliss please say if this isn't ok)
We don't have a Piccadilly set as we're missing a 1/5 depending who Katherine is made to be!
I would like to do some clog (potentially) we'll make sure to run over old clog on Monday as imagine we're not quite at public new clog yet!
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Absences: Cinzia, Emma, Laura and Martin (but we have Will instead) and we have Ffion.
As always let me know if I have missed you.
7-7.30 is clog. Please look over the style points that Ellie sent round. Most of it was pretty basic so shouldn't take too long to get the hang of it. Me and Katherine picked up the points pretty quickly, atm it's just a struggle to remember them all the time alongside the actual steps!
Rapper:
Building on what I said about bringing energy into the dancing I'd also like to have a talk about how we each present ourselves. I know sometimes practice isn't reflective of being out, it's hard to smile without an audience etc. But there are some points we can all think about that don't need much effort. I'll basically be making this up so please chime in if you have any thoughts!
We've got various dance outs coming up so I'm going to crunch the numbers and figure out what will and won't be ok and if there are any positions people need to master before that point. I'll probably try and go through it at the beginning so people can highlight if they're not happy and we can start filling in the gaps.
As per Hannah's email. Remember the signup sheet! https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Am being too lazy to summarise this for you so just going to send the whole
thing but here's the deal for Cambridge - sounds pretty good!
I can double check about whether just the weekend works if anyone thinks
that doing the Thursday and Friday wouldn't be possible/check whether they
were thinking about just the weekend (you never know!).
Please do fill in the sign up sheet as appropriate, and if you have any q's
let me know and I'll see what I can find out

Hi Hannah,
I hope you are well?
I believe the lovely Festival Operations Manager, Becky Stewart, has been
in touch with Martin on facebook about the team performing at this year’s
Festival. Becky has asked me to drop you some details regarding everything.
Can you advise if you do anything other than rapper and how long a set you
would be able to fill? (please note it is absolutely fine if you only do
rapper).
For now I have attached the example timetable from 2018, do let me know if
this looks doable for you or if you have any comments.
In terms of what we can provide please see below:
Fee: £350 approx.
Camping: camping provided at Coldham’s Common free of charge
Passes: Full team to be provided with full festival passes for the duration
of festival (ideally up to a maximum of 16- please confirm number of
dancers)
Becky has mentioned that you have enquired about dancing in town and that’s
a thumbs up for that! As for any ceilidh or concert spots we unfortunately
don’t have anything available for this year.
I think that should be everything you require info wise from me at the
moment but please let me know if you have any further questions and I’ll be
happy to help.
Kind Regards,

Hi everyone,
We made some great progress with the Ottawa waltz on Tuesday. Becky and Katharine are basically at dance-out level now which will be really useful for future practices! For those interested, here are a few pointers about the dance we came up with:
Step 1:
Leg heights on scuff have been relatively consistent and good, but both legs and toes should be more pointed. The first scuff should take the entire body position diagonally left and the subsequent shuffle should be done 45 degrees towards the right. These two angles repeat until the end of the step.
Step 2:
We decided on ‘raven’ style round shuffles at the end of the step.
Step 3:
Initial rounded scuffs should be done with larger circles of the leg. Toes need to be pointed throughout the step.
Step 4:
The toe digs behind & in front should stretch as far as possible. Keep toes pointed throughout when possible.
Step 5:
First half of final step: body position moves diagonally left & right, but the head should be pointed forwards at all times. The step should end with a straight ‘irish’ style leg.
We’ll go through all of this on Monday so hopefully it will all become clear!
Thanks,
Ellie
Hi All
Hope the clog perfection went well on Tuesday! Slightly later business
email than usual, but lots of exciting things coming up in the future! A
few new invites (Cambridge Folk Festival, Sue's/Pearfield Road Street Party
and Dance around the World) and some old ones as well that we should
probably try to respond to pretty soon...
We have been invited to *Cambridge Folk Festival* on the first weekend in
*August* - more details coming soon. It's only an hour away, so super easy
for us to get to!
Then onto *September* - we have the current invite to the *London Folk
Festival on 7th *September, we have been before and enjoyed it. Am
currently looking for a bit more info on what they'd like us to do, as we
would be unlikely to be able to do something in the evening. Would be good
to support as our local festival
Sue has invited us to her/*Pearfield road street party*! on* 8th September* and
has invited us to a BBQ as well. She would also like us to dance at about
2pm but otherwise we can join the street party / investigate other pubs if
we wished. Sue does need an answer asap, as otherwise she will want to find
another team... Partners and family welcome. Sue please do add any info
that I've missed
Appreciate that both of these are the day after each other, so please say
if you could do both/could do one if the other one wasn't happening / feel
free to express a preference as that will help us work out what we can do!
I know we partly went through this on Monday with those that were there,
but I don't think I quite fully captured everyone's answers fully...
And finally *October*, as well as our special invite to Northgate's *Bath
Time *on 26th October, we have also been invited to the *Dance around the
World Festival *in C# that weekend. It is pretty much what it says on the
tin, a festival celebrating all sorts of dances from around the world! We
went a couple of years ago which was fun - you get free entry to the entire
weekend as a performer and we would do a 20min spot at some point. Given
Bath Time, I would propose that we do the Sunday 27th. Again with this one
if you are a one or the other please do say and feel free to express a
preference if you have one and only want to do one of them.
Sign-up sheet is here - you all know what to do! Don't forget to sign-up
for the crawl on 27th June as well while you're there - still a few maybes
and no-replies there.

Just wanted to say I was really pleased with the response to injecting energy into the dance. It just goes to show we can all do it if we think about it! I know it's harder if you're not 100% confident but yesterday looked so much better than Thursday for just energy, buzz, everything 🙂
If there is anything that I talked about/ideas you have for improving it and want to give it some time please let me know.
Also big shout out to Tori for her first tumble in a long time 😄
See some of you tonight and everyone else next week.
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Absences: Fliss, Hannah TD, Hannorah and Rachel
Anyone else, please let me know asap. Ellie I know you weren't very well last week, hope you're feeling a little better!
Tonight:
Clog 7-7.30 ideally we're at the running through phase, or getting there, so that tomorrow we can be relatively focused. We'll also decide on times for tomorrow. Have we got music??
Rapper 7.30-9.30
Ideally I'd like to give a couple of people a go at tumbling at the start.
Continue working on Jubilee different positions etc. and if possible Westerhope.
I'd like to have a general discussion about style. Watching the dancing on Thursday made me think I need to articulate the energy of our style to people. I know some of this comes with confidence but we all need to be making an effort to inject the energy all the time. The sets shouldn't need certain people in them to make sure energy runs throughout, but that seems to be where we are at the moment. Quite happy to fun through key moments where this can come through in physical movements.
Continue work with HTD, Tori and Ellie. As well as give me and Hannah a chance at running through as 2/3/4 doing the original dance - for me it seems a long and distant memory. I also think once that's refreshed it'd be worth mixing the set up a bit so that everyone knows how it should feel.
Anything else, please let me know.
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
I still haven't got any further info for Thursday so my intention is to just be at the Scoop for 6.15 ready to dance at 6.30. Please keep an eye out for Ali who will be the only musician!
https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Scoop+at+More+London,+London+SE1+2AA/…
Please arrive in kit for 6.15 then if we need to go anywhere or anything we'll all be there and able to do it. Sorry I can't give you any further info. The current plan is to do one dance and then we have until 7.30 to eat/grab some food ready to start the crawl. If we managed a cheeky extra one then that's a bonus but obviously want people to eat.
Hannah TD warning in advance you'll have to do a lot of 3. My knee has flared up really badly in the last couple of days. If I can get away with not dancing at all I will just be along for the ride 🙂
See you all tomorrow!
Becky
Hi All,
Reminder that there is no practice on Monday, but we do have the Summer by
the River festival which we will be opening followed by the crawl. We will
be dancing at 1830 at the Scoop (it's the amphitheatre bit near Tower
Bridge) - so if you are doing that please be there at 1815 ready to go.
You should hopefully have received a doodle poll from Rachel-Anne looking
at other dates for our Day of Dance, please fill it in asap to help make
sure we can get something in the diary.
Finally, Whitby, I need to get our ticketing info in at the end of May (we
may be able to make some changes later, but it will be a pain), so if
possible can you give confirmations now if different from the below. Clare,
as you have a Chinewrde ticket already, I've left you off for now, but you
are definitely still a Raven! Same goes for you and your Chilts one Will!
Thinking about it, I can't remember how many spare places there were in the
Whitby Ravens House for any of the people that have been added since
Monday... Emma? Am sure we can work something out, and there is camping. I
do need to include anyone that is camping. At the moment, I'm not sure
anyone is? *If you are intending to camp - please let me know ASAP* as I've
lost track of where we are with that.
Becky

Hannah TD (+ Flora Hervin)
Hannorah (+ Mac)

I have Jo, Miriam and Ali as maybes, I will get tickets on our list for you
all as I don't want anyone missing out.
*Anything that's wrong, with the above list, please let me know asap.*
Have a lovely week.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Rachel, Jo, Sue, Hannah TD not sure when you get back? (think that's everyone, let me know if not)
Tonight:
Clog - hopefully people who needed it saw the video on whatsapp so are starting to feel a bit more confident with clog. 7-7.30 will be the usual time. Can we confirm when the practice will be tonight, please.
Rapper - practice for next weeks crawl. This coming Monday is bank holiday so there will not be a practice.
Please let me know if I have named any positions you can't dance out without a run-through:
Jubilee
1 Rachel, Emma, Katherine
2 Jo, Tori, HTD, Hannorah
3 Becky, HTD
4 Miriam, Ellie, Hannorah
5 Rachle, Ellie, Katherine
Westerhope
1 Ellie, Becky, Katherine
2 Tori
3 HTD
4 Hannorah, Emma
5 Rachel, Miriam, Emma
6 Miriam, Katherine
Piccadilly would involve Ellie or Rachel dancing and I'm aware we don't have Rachel this week and it has been a while! I'd rather not push her into dancing out without a runthrough after such a long break.
(I'm aware some people can do additional figures but maybe with a runthrough/a lot of brain power. As we have choice we might as well go with what we're best at!) If I've actually missed something let me know. I need to update a spreadsheet now there are so many of us!
On top of this I'd like to keep people running through their new positions for Jubilee and Piccadilly.
Thanks,
Becky
