Hi All,
Not really much business this week - but just ahead of Monday:
Whitby we need to give them ticket info by the end of May, technically we
can make adjustments after this, but it will be a bit more of a faff as I
can't just update it myself then. Reminder that partners get a full week
ticket for free, I know a couple of people were wondering if they needed to
pay.
DoD - best day for us looks to be 15th June I believe, so if you haven't
filled out the doodle that's the one to look at. I'll be popping this on
the sign-up sheet shortly as well.
I'm being chased again for Lewes DoD (12th October) - they seem uber keen
to have it all organised already. We have tonnes of maybes and virtually no
yeses, if you happen to be able to be a bit more certain either way that
may help work out whether we can do it or not. I shall do my best to keep
stalling, but we are reaching a point where they will assume we aren't
going at all.
Sign up sheet here, don't forget to sign up to crawls through the Summer as
well - thanks to those that have already done so!

Thanks,

Hello all,
Absences: Clare, Hannorah, Sue, Emma (apologies if there is anyone else that I've forgotten?)
Plan is 7 clog. Hopefully we will have a date settled for the evening practice/can sort that this evening.
7.30 rapper as normal. Now that we are post bank-holidays I think we can try and get back to normal a bit. I believe we have one, maybe two new people coming tonight? If so I will almost certainly need help teaching. I'd like to also continue the Piccadilly work with Hannah TD, Tori and Ellie (Katherine could you do 1 for this?).
If there are really loads of us it might be helpful to have some work on stepping happening as well, even if that ends up being a handful of people - just so people aren't too bored!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend and are looking forward to
more rapper on Monday! We'll also have some new people coming along on
Monday - possibly as many as three!
In the mean time:
*1. May and Festivals*
*2. It's Doodle Time!*
*3. New Invites*
*1. May and Festivals*
30th May crawl & City by the River Festival - we will be doing a spot at
1830 and may have time for a couple of dances before the choir go on at
1845 - so we'll be opening the festival! After that time to hit the pubs...
more details in a couple of weeks.
*Warwick, *hopefully you've all seen my email about tickets - please
respond if you need to. Still lacking in plus one info for the maybes...
and anyone else in the yeses that forgot... I will start chasing in person
if I need to.
We'll also need to do the same for Whitby in the next couple of weeks,
though Whitby partner tickets are free for the week, so I am happier about
making assumptions on these. All the same, please check that you've
mentioned plus ones if you want to bring them as I am not currently capable
of guessing this.
*2. It's Doodle Time!*
DoD - I think most people have now filled in Rachel-Anne's doodle poll for
availability in June, if you haven't please do this asap:
https://doodle.com/poll/qu7fb7z2b7fpx5tqxtatz33v/private?utm_campaign=poll_…
I've put together a doodle poll for a date for clog practice here, this
should cover all Tuesday and Thursday evenings in June except our crawl
night on 27th June. I haven't specified an exact time, we'll worry about
this later, we'll also need to find a venue... which might take a while, so
please fill in asap.
https://doodle.com/poll/kq6d7egk6hn5vxgq
*3. New Invites:*
*Thrales have invited us to their 25th birthday party!* So a whole weekend
of partying this year!
Friday, welcome drinks at 7 in a pub, Saturday pub tour, probably around
Soho during the day and somewhere else in the evening, and finally Sunday a
day of dance finishing at 4 with all the other teams (probably similar to
usual, but a bit bigger!) If you can't make the whole thing, that's ok,
just note on the sign-up sheet which you can do otherwise we'll assume both
days. 8th-10th November
*Mabel Day 1st December* - the usual Christmass-y fun in Oxford.
Sign-up sheet here as always - don't forget to fill in the crawls through
the Summer!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
And finally, I'm still waiting on some neckers and pins from Westerhope at
DERT - please bring them in when you can.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
I will sort an update on business stuff at some point this week, but in the
mean time I need to get back on the Warwick tickets asap. If any of the
below is incorrect (i.e I've managed to miss you or your partner ticket
off...) please let me know by 11pm Thursday 9th May.
I have the following down for definitely coming to Warwick
Hannah N, Martin, Sue, Ellie, Becky & Ken, Ffion, Patrick, Emma, Clare,
Hannah TD, Miriam, Will, Ali.
I have the following still as maybes - I will assume you are coming so that
you don't miss out, but if you could add any partner tickets that would be
appreciated. Rachel in particular, am guessing you would be bringing Dan
and Arthur too - but obviously don't want to go buying tickets that you
might not use...
*Hannorah, Katherine (probably yes), Rachel, Tori, *
In terms of ceilidh spots, to pick up from last Monday, I think we can
easily manage the 10pm Friday one or the Saturday one, but definitely not
the Sunday or Friday at 9pm one.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
First things first, no practice on Monday as it is a bank holiday... next
practice will be 13th May when we should also have some new people joining
us.
*1. Dancing out in May*
*2. Upcoming festivals*
*3. Other stuff*
*1. Dancing out in May*
So coming up this week:
We have the event on Wednesday at 3 Bankside (near the Tate) on the 7th
floor terrace. It starts at 6 so please be there as close to 6 as you can.
We will be doing all 3 dances as per the numbers last night and Martin and
Will will be leading music when we aren't dancing. There will be drinks
there, but no food. When we are done at 8 then we can go somewhere all
together for food - please send me suggestions and I can try and get us a
table booked.
I think there was a query as to whether we might be dancing in a pub
afterwards - I guess we'll see how we feel! If we do it will only be one
dance, as we'll all need to eat something! Shiny shoes please.
I am hoping to have figured out musician for 30th May (crawl and the City
by the River Festival) on Wednesday, so will update you all on that -
thanks for responses on the doodle etc.
*2. Upcoming Festivals*
We now need to make sure we have our ticket lists sorted for Warwick and
Whitby. Warwick need it by next Friday, so please make sure that you have
put yourself and any plus ones down on the sing-up sheet. If you could do
this by 5th May so I can double check it and send it off, that would be
much appreciated. If you are a maybe please commit ASAP. Partner tickets
will cost £45 (under 10's are free).
We have slightly longer for Whitby, but would be very helpful if you could
do the same for this as well please so it isn't a panic at the end of May!
*3. Other stuff*
Rachel-Anne sent round a doodle yesterday to get people's availability in
June for our Day of Dance, please fill in asap - and thanks to those that
have already done so. Please bear in mind that we are in Windsor on 22nd
June, so we can't do it then. It won't be the first weekend in June, as
Thrales are off to Wimborne...
Doodle poll is here:
https://doodle.com/poll/qu7fb7z2b7fpx5tqxtatz33v/private?utm_campaign=poll_…
Don't forget if you had a necker and pin at DERT for doing Westerhope,
please could you return it to me at some point.
And finally, watch out for a doodle soon for (probably) evenings to
practice the clog dance. As Becky and Ellie said yesterday, the idea is
that this will be to tidy things up rather than learn from scratch. Thanks
for the vid yesterday Ellie!
As always, the sign-up sheet is here - don't forget to fill in the upcoming
crawls etc.. I think I might start leaving it on the table at practice in
case that's helpful for anyone filling it out. Couple of new-ish things
inlcuding Mabel Day! and Bath Time! (Northgate would really like us to go)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Have a lovely week and see a lot of you tomorrow! 🍸
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Not going to lie, I'm not sure where we're at with Hannorah, Rachel from week to week with my wedding plus bank holidays my brain has given up. As far as I know, other than those two there are no absences tonight? R-A I know you're there but can't dance.
Clog at 7. Onwards with the new clog dance! I think after the bank holidays are over it'd be good to get a longer clog practice sorted so we're confident ahead of Warwick. (REMINDER - IF YOU'RE A MAYBE FOR WARWICK YOU NEED TO COMMIT ASAP).
Ellie can you look at dates that you would be available to teach. Ideally a Saturday as I don't want to miss a rapper night.
I'm going to teach the Earsdon stepping tonight and we'll go over each week. It does have doubles in it so some people might take a while to get it but do have a go. It will only be in Piccadilly where we already do doubles so no immediate panic if it's not something you do yet.
After that we'll look at dances for Wednesday to make sure everyone is happy with numbers, then progress with what we started a couple of weeks ago. Once the bank holiday is over we can properly look forward to festival season and what we need to learn.
I am very much hoping progress has been made for sorting a DoD with Thrales?? This needs doing asap otherwise it simply won't happen, which would be a real shame.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Open Morris have been asked to find a womens/mixed team to go on Good
Morning Britain (TV) on Tuesday morning and as it is London based suggested
us. They are just checking that rapper rather than cotswold/border is ok,
but in the mean time - is anyone up for it? Martin would be happy to play.
Given it is on Tuesday (30th) we need to respond asap.
The show is between 0600-0830 (exact timings to be provided) and transport
will be provided.
They will be combining this with a live "debate"/confrontation between a
female dancer and a male "dinosaur" to show how daft it is for anyone to
think that women should not be dancing Morris. I appreciate we aren't a
Morris team, but the point still stands and if we were able to do it it
would be a good thing. I think Jen Cox is going to be the female dance
debating.
The other thing we need to sort very soon are Warwick tickets - they need
to know by 10th May, so if you are a maybe could you move yourself one way
or the other. If you aren't sure, but think you might, please put yes as it
would be better to have an unused ticket than you not being able to come.
With that in mind, don't forget Whitby as they will need to know at the end
of May.
And... Summer by the river, please fill in the doodle/sign-up sheet for the
crawl.

Hi All,
Thanks to those that danced yesterday evening, I think it went down well at
the Jack Horner and was good to get a few more pubs in as well. Thanks to
martin for a bit of shouting and Ellie for squaring them as we went along -
and of course super well done to Miriam on your first dance out!
*1. Coming up in May...*
*2. Kit *
*1. Coming up in May... * yes it really is just around the corner!
Nothing coming up this week now, but we do have practice on Monday, and we
have the event on *1st May at 3 Bankside.* Aim to get there for *6*, we'll
do some dances, Martin and Will are doing some tunes there as well. There
are drinks available, and once we finish at about 8, I would suggest going
somewhere nearby for food - any suggestions welcome, it's not an area I am
super familiar with!
On *30th May* we should be doing a *crawl*, though there are now fewer
people as yeses than there were before. We do also have a lot of no
replies. Could you all please look at this and the *doodle* I sent
yesterday about whether you would be able to appear at the *Scoop for an
1830* dance spot or not. We need to get back to them asap on this. It would
be fantastic if we were able to actually open the festival, but I
appreciate that this doesn't work for everyone with work commitments etc.
If we can't do it I will try and find us another slot.
https://doodle.com/poll/dig7zansmtn6r87d
Sign-up sheet here as always:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
*2.Kit Recall / reshuffle*
If you borrowed kit for DERT, please return it to whoever you borrowed it
from. If you have a *necker and pin* from dancing Westerhope please also
return this.
Emma, when you are able to, would you be able to investigate getting
Emily's kit back please? I think it might help with our current kit
pressures.
*If you are dancing on Wednesday 1st of May and are missing any kit*
(including awaiting a return) or would be without kit if you returned
something, please let me know so we can work out some swaps. There are
quite a few of us going, and I don't think all of those people have all
their own kit...
We may need to look at kit again over the next few weeks to get us all
sorted for the Summer, so *please do flag any issues* as soon as you can so
we can sort them out. We are also hoping to do another order of
T-Shirt/hoody merch, so start thinking about whether you would like any
more...
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi all,
We have been invited to dance at the city summer by the river festival,
that takes place June-August. They gave stuff every night throughout that
time in the Scoop which is near the Tate, with a fab view of London Bridge!
They have asked if we would like to open the festival with a dance at 1830
on 30th May (quite exciting). This is the same night as a crawl, so this is
a question of whether those that are free would be able to do this. We need
to get back on this date asap so please fill in the yes no doodle below
asap.
https://doodle.com/poll/dig7zansmtn6r87d
If you might be able to do it if it was a tiny bit later, maybe email me
and I'll see if that's poss. Otherwise, I believe there are slots still
available in june/july that we may be able to do.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
Hope you've been enjoying the sunshine!
Only one minor change to the minutes that I sent out previously. Please see
attached and please do read them. I've also re-summarised the Action Points
below, there are one or two that need looking at fairly immediately, so
please do take a look at the list below and refresh your memory (and
perhaps blame the tequila if you don't remember agreeing to it!).
The two key things being, organising a Day of Dance with Thrales, as
mentioned the other day we need to find a date that we can do as Ravens
asap - so the sign-up sheet needs looking at to find a day we are
potentially free and organise a Doodle Poll. It might help if you nominate
someone out of the five of you to lead on this so stuff actually happens...
The five being, Ellie, Emma Hannah TD, Hannorah and Rachel-Anne.
The other urgent one is finding a day for Clog. Ellie, could you let me
know some dates (think we thought maybe an evening, though we could try a
day as well if that works) and I'll sort a doodle.
Thanks,
Hannah
*Action Points:*
Try Thrales shorter swords
HN to ask Simon Vaughan/Laura Smyth about first women's rapper dance
EH to organise a data discussion session
RAS to flesh out Pub Federation idea. To be tested on a crawl in future

up in Spam
Hi All,
Plan for tomorrow is to meet at the Rising Sun at 1830, I haven't squared
it, but am sure it will be fine (thanks for the suggestion Rachel-Anne!).
We'll do a warm up dance there once we have everyone, may even have time to
pop to another one if we want before going to the Jack Horner to do a dance
between 1900 and 1930. We will then take our chances on some pubs in the
area to make the most of having made the effort to go out, though I am not
proposing a late finish - I also appreciate that it will still be warm so
please do stay hydrated. Suggestions of fairly reliable pubs welcome, I
can't remember which always say yes apart from maybe Tower Tavern.
We will be doing Jubilee with 1-Rachel, 2-Jo, 3-Hannah, 4-Miriam, 5-Ellie.
If you don't feel happy at those positions please let me know asap. We now
have both Martin and Will to play for us. If anyone is up to a little
shouting before we dance, please let me know - I'm not exactly comedian
material (or loud!).
Equally if you are missing any kit, please shout now so we can figure
something out. I think we've solved everything that I know about.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
DERT is over, but we still have loads of things to do! So, strap in for a
roller coaster of a business email!
This covers events for the next couple of weeks as *we don't have a
practice on Monday *as it is a Bank Holiday. So next practice is 29th April
*20th April - Becky's Wedding!!!* Starting at 5pm. There are loads of
trains that go to Bedford so should be easy to get there. Please sort out
your own travel, and consider whether or not you need to go and check into
a hotel beforehand or not. I believe there are a few of us staying in the
premier inn in Bedford itself, so we can coordinate taxi bookings for after
the party between us - pre-booking has been recommended.
5-7 session, 7 is cake, first dance then ceilidh until 10, with a buffet
provided in the middle. We are dancing Piccadilly as per DERT at 9 (after
the buffet - don't forget to shine your shoes!). Disco 10-12, kick-out at
12 unless you are staying at the venue: http://barnshotelbedford.co.uk/
*23rd April - St Georges Day* @ The Jack Horner. I will send some more
precise details next week, but it will be one dance (amazing that they are
paying us to literally do one jubilee!). I suggest a warm up dance at
another pub before we go there. Current plan is to dance somewhere between
1900 and 1930, so will meet half an hour ahead. If we fancy it we could
tour some other pubs around TCR afterwards for a bit more dancing.
*25th April - crawl not on. *
*1st May - *aiming to get there for 6pm or as close to it as we can. Once
we have a team gathered we'll sort out timings. There will be drinks and we
can go somewhere altogether afterwards for dinner. Anyone who couldn't make
the event, feel free to join us for food! More details after the next
practice
*New things:*
*Invite to Bath Time!* 26th October: Although it is an open invite, we are
one of the teams that they would particularly like there. We can do it as a
day trip and spend the day crawling the pubs of Bath, was a fun last time.
Only about 1hr15 mins by train from Paddington. It's on the sign-up sheet,
you know what to do!
*Day of Dance - the steering group of Ellie, Emma, Hannah TD, Hannorah and
Rachel-Anne* represented by the first three are to find a date (probably in
June) that the team can do asap so that we can invite Thrales and get
everything organised. From the sounds of it, none of Emma, Ellie or Hannah
are free in May hence the need to look at June. I'd probably suggest that
you choose one of you to lead on stuff. Obviously I can help with any
secretary things as needed, but it's down to you... ☺
*Declined Invites:*
11th May trip to Oxford with Mabels and the ceilidh in the evening - NOT ON
as we don't have a team. Maybe another time!
Baldock DoD, 18th May - they were impressed by the video of this. Not keen,
so will say no. Apparently it is part of Baldock Festival.
7 Champs Weekend of Dance 6-8th September. Clashes with London Folk
Festival, so a no as well.
Sign-up sheet is here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Finally - a reminder that if you have any comments/amendments on the *minutes
from the EGM*, please get them to me by 20th April so I can send out the
final version with a reminder of the action points.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi all,
Literally just heard back on this one, and they would like us to go and
dance. I would suggest that we would want to do a quick warm up pub nearby,
which we can probably find quite easily given the amount of pubs in
fitzrovia. They only really want us to pop in and will be paying us.
Original thing was sometime between 5 and 8. I'd suggest the latwr ebd of
that
So, I have the following people as yeses, are you still free? Katherine,
Me, Joanna, Martin, Miriam, Rachel, Rachel-and and Ellie. Please respond
asap to let me know so I can figure out the details - especially if you are
a no. If you could also let me know the earliest that you would be able to
get to fitzrovia /Tottenham court road, then I can estimate a time that
we'll be able to dance there having had a practice dance.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Post-DERT we are back to the dancing!
Absences - not 100% sure where we are with these. Clare I'm assuming you're not here. Rachel not sure whether you're here or not? Same to Hannorah I don't know what your attendance plan going forward is. Rachel-Anne I'm aware of you having lots of deadlines?
If you see this please let me know if you're there or not it makes my life easier!
7-7.30 we'll do clog.
I haven't managed to get hold of Thrales swords, they're having to have their AGM at a later date due to a number of absences, so hopefully we can try shorter swords then.
I also haven't brought the new swords just due to how much I was carrying - we need to decide what we want to do with them anyway.
I probably need to assemble a new mighty list of who can do what. I'd like to crack on with cementing jubilee and westerhope for Fliss, Miriam and Clare to make sure they can start regularly dancing out asap. I'd also like to get Ellie and Hannah TD back in Piccadilly, but maybe after this practice as we'll be performing the altered preggers version of Piccadilly at my wedding.
I don't want to take the lead on chain (being totally unqualified) but would like to start getting this into practices regularly, prioritise the westerhope set but also adding in others so that as many people as possible can do the move!
I'd also like to filter tumbling in some more. I don't want to spend loads of time per practice but having it going on in the background might be a good idea.
Once the bank holidays are over the focus will be Warwick and Whitby streamlined.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi guys
Thanks to Hannah for reminding me to do this. I'd forgotten all about it during an extremely hectic week since the EGM.
I have on file all sorts of versions of the constitution and I'm not at all sure which is the latest official version, which version the Bank has and which are suggested amendments that may or may not have been adopted. Most were written towards the end of 2014, with subsequent versions on various dates in 2015 and a couple in January 2016. I can only find a hard copy of the one that I think is the latest version.
Here are two of them.
To add to the complication, I have some hand-written suggestions, some by me and some possibly by Ffion. Hers say:
EGM points to raise:
* "Any of" instead of "two of" can approve banking things
* 2 weeks notice for EGM
* Anybody can raise EGM/AGM
I can't find any evidence that the last two were incorporated into the constitution. The first one was, in order to get a debit card, but probably never submitted to the Bank because I never applied for one.
We probably need to come up with a definitive version, call an "EGM" for 2 weeks time, get everyone to agree to it and get it signed.
Hope all this makes more sense to you than it does to me.

Hi All,
We are having a slight tidy up of the mailing list and hoping to help
declutter your inbox! So, if you haven't been to a Ravens practice / event
in the last 6 months and would like to remain on the mailing list please
let me know by 30th April. If you return, you will obviously be more than
welcome to come back onto the mailing list.
If you haven't been to practice in a while please remember that we're
always happy for you to return, just let Becky know so that she can plan
practice. If you're no longer interested in dancing with the team then
you're still very welcome to join us on a crawl sometime, just for the fun
of it. Details are usually posted on Facebook (
https://www.facebook.com/towerravensrapper) and Twitter (
https://mobile.twitter.com/tower_ravens) so make sure you've liked and
followed the team's accounts! We might even reply to carrier pigeon if you
can find one!
Those who should be listed as regular members on the mailing list are:
Becky, Clare, Ellie, Emma, Ffion, Fliss, Hannah N, Hannah TD, Hannorah,
Joanna, Katherine, Laura, Martin, Miriam, Rachel, Rachel-Anne, Sue, Tori
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello folks,
Thought I'd give a few more details about the wedding next weekend:
So ravens invite for the evening, please come along from 5.
5-7 we are having a session. Please bring instruments/your voice if you want to join in 🙂
Then 7ish we do something like cut cake, first dance and then a ceilidh till 10. Buffet provided in the middle, we've tried to provide for your different dietary stuff!
9 oclock is the ravens slot (just post-buffet, sorry). The plan is DERT set Piccadilly in kit, so no-one else needs to worry. If we suddenly have a different plan I'll let you know.
10-12 is disco time!
http://barnshotelbedford.co.uk/
Barns Hotel Bedford,
Cardington Road,
Bedford,
MK44 3SA
You will either need to drive or get a taxi from the station. There seems to generally be a taxi rank there but you can always pre-book (probably a bit cheaper). I don't know if you've coordinated trains but it might be some of you can team up. And I'm assuming some of you will be staying somewhere else so need to go there first.
We have been warned that you need to pre-book getting back from the hotel as the taxi companies get very busy. At midnight, if you're not staying at the Barns you won't be allowed into the bar.
Looking forward to having you all there! Any questions let me know, ideally before the end of next week as at that point I will be in full WEDDING mode and have no time.

Hi Martin
Just spoke to Mary, she’s had a death in the family so afraid she didn’t
want to talk to anyone and has lost contact with Bernie but shehas taken my
number and is going to ask her daughter to try to get in touch with Cathy,
the no. 5 in their team.
I will get back to you if I can get a contact for you. Here is Chris, also

Hi Julie
A few years ago you published a video about the Winlaton sword dancers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STFZR8zXED4
I dance with the Sallyport Sword dancers, performing the Winlaton dance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VetPK134k8E
I'm also a musician for the Tower Ravens rapper dancers - a women's team

We're interested to learn more about the Winlaton women's team, and
wondered if you had any useful information or contacts from making this
film - especially if there's any way of speaking to Bernadette and Mary
(stars of your film)!
Best regards
Martin
Dear all
Thanks Hannah for the draft minutes.
At the EGM we agreed to aim to go to DART 2020 (like DERT but in America),
with most people at the meeting expressing personal interest in attending,
whilst recognising the difficulty in committing for definite this far in
advance.
As mentioned, DART 2020 is likely to be in Minnesota, in the “Twin Cities”
Minneapolis and Saint Paul. I'm in contact with the prospective organisers
- they expect a decision about hosting DART for definite in the next couple
of months. The date also isn't confirmed, although it'll be late October or
early November. They're super-excited about the prospect of Ravens coming
over.
DART usually has roughly the same format as DERT although it's smaller. I
guess we'd probably look at going over there for a week before or
afterwards, and coordinate some activities (dance outs, visits etc) with
local groups.
*Organising*
I'm very happy to coordinate this, but over time I'm going to need some
help with various bits and pieces, so please consider whether you're able
to help as requested.
There's one thing that we agreed at the meeting we're going to need to
start looking at quite soon. It's really important that no-one in the team
is excluded on the grounds of cost, so we need to look carefully at
fundraising. This could include crawls, sponsorship, crowd funding... or
anything else we haven't thought of. Would you be willing to lead on this?
Let me know!
Please ask if you have questions! Let's make this happen... Ravens on tour
will be awesome!
See you on Monday.
Martin
Hi All,
Thanks for all the thoughts and ideas at the EGM on Monday. Appreciate it
was a little longer than hoped, but I feel some useful things have come out
of it. The round table of favourite parts of DERT was lovely, if a little
time consuming. Hopefully we can arrange a party some other time so we can
dedicate more time to Item Party.
Please find the minutes attached, and action points below. A key item which
we need to address in the next week is to check the constitution regarding
the proposed second treasurer position, Sue could you circulate this
please? I have checked the G Drive and it isn't there (but will be soon...)
If you have any amendments that need to be made to the minutes, please let
me know 20th April.
Thanks,
Hannah

Hello again,
There are a couple of you who I'm definitely spamming by now - sorry!
I mentioned on Monday my plans to create a dataset on the pubs we visit on
crawls. I have various ideas but I'd really like to hear other people
thoughts before I start something and only realise later that I've done it
all wrong....
Thoughts and ideas fall into the following themes:
- how to set up the data well so it's easy to manipulate later
- what kind of stuff you'd like to know about pubs
- where is the map and how can we link it up
Martin made a very good point that it's not all about the cash, so am
definitely going to add in some measure of 'atmosphere' but not completely
decided how to do that yet. Other ideas for non-money measures welcome.
Crawl organisers: is there anything you'd find useful when thinking about
which pubs to choose?
Everyone: feel free to suggest whatever you think might be interesting to
see - I guarantee you that it will be easier to add in now rather than
later.
For those who care: I'm thinking of using excel because we have it at work
so I'm probably best at it. I've dabbled in R before but it feels a bit
overkill for this. Other software suggestions welcome. The other benefit to
excel is that I think you can use excel online to share and edit. I've
tried google sheets but it frustrates me by not being excel...
I'm happy to take thoughts by email or over the phone, and if there's
sufficient interest we could have a pre- or post-practice group brainstorm
in the next few weeks - or even not on a practice night if that'd work
better.
And now I think that's all the emails I'm bombarding you with this
evening...
Happy Wednesday!
Emma
Hi,
As discussed on Monday (see previous email from me for more details) if
your name is in the table below, please could you pay the ravens account
the amount next to your name to cover your travel?
Ellie £68.65
Emma £82.80
Hannah N £68.65
Hannah TD £68.65
Laura £82.80
Martin £68.65
Miriam £68.65
Paul £82.80
Tori £68.65
As ever, please talk to me if this is not what you were expecting or if
it'll be a trouble for you.
Thanks,
Emma
Hi all, hopefully this is sending to all....
I've been bending my head around subsidising DERT costs in a fair way. Our
usual policy is to reimburse half of travel costs, although this weekend
there were hotel costs as well.
The hotel cost £89.10 per person. The trains cost between £68 and £87 per
person. To make life simpler for me, I suggest that the ravens account pays
for the hotel, and individuals pay for their travel. This means that
everyone will get at least half of their costs covered - some will have
slightly more than half their costs covered.
We can discuss this tonight, if there is an alternative way to split up the
costs then I'm open to hearing about it.
There are a couple of people who's costs ended up not in the ranges above -
I'll speak to you separately about how you want to settle up.
Thanks all,
Emma
