Hi All,
Basically you are all amazing. We will get proper copies of the score
sheets at some point, in the mean time, here are the photos of them from
DERT Info.
I haven't really looked at these properly, but there are some really lovely
comments in there, and hopefully some of the others will be useful for key
things to focus on for next year when we beat the Kingsmen... Don't dwell
on anything you see as negative much - I know we've already had the
discussion about why we got low tommy marks on the WhatsApp - we did
awesome and that's all that matters.
Can someone add Martin to the WhatsApp so he doesn't need to keep borrowing
my phone please?
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello

Well done again to everyone!
Now go and get some rest.
See you tomorrow/soon.

Hi All,
Here it is - the email that you've all been waiting for!
A few general things:
*Kit* - make sure you have it! Including all the extra bits like skull hair
bobbles for piccadilly, the long sleeve as well as regular length sleeve
t-shirts for Westerhope Make sure you have whatever you need to keep your
hair tidy (probably mostly applies to piccadilly to save us having to
re-tie multiple times) - so 500 hair pins / hair spray / 20 hair ties etc.
And don't forget to *polish* your shoes! 🌟
The timetable for the daytime can be found here, we'll find out our warm-up
pub when we arrive on Friday in our welcome pack:
https://dert2019.co.uk/competitions/
I've attached the Final Instructions from the DERT committee which should
have some info on food availability, the silly "Coals to Newcastle"
competition and all that jazz. 🎵
For Friday evening, it would be good to have as many of us wearing some
kind of merch - T-shirts/hoodies etc.
*Friday:*
*Travel: 🚂*
If you are on the 1500 train, please by at Kings Cross at 1445 at the
latest between Leon and the ticket info place so I can hand out tickets and
we can board without any panic! I might bring myself some tins of gin... We
get to Newcastle at 1750. *Don't forget your railcard! *(and buy one if you
don't yet have it/it is out of date).
*Hotel: 🛏*
We are staying at the Jury's Inn, Newcastle (the one nearest the station
and on the north side of the river - *http://tinyurl.com/y6p9kank
<http://tinyurl.com/y6p9kank>*). There's a short cut through the life
sciences centre from the station. It is 2 people per room, though we do now
have one spare bed, all rooms are supposed to have 1 double bed and 1
single bed. I've put the some provisional pairings together at the bottom
of the email, but feel free to change this - names in bold are the named
person for the room - they might not actually care, but just in case. If
you are there earlier than me and have any issues, just give me a ring. In
theory they will charge my card on the day. Please note that we do not have
breakfast included in the room, but you can purchase it there or go to a
nearby shop/cafe/pub. 9 of the rooms are on this booking ref: 360465817 Will,
yours is on this one (can't book more than 9 at a time without jumping
through hoops, so I didn't): 360465849
*Evening Venue 🍸*
The evening venue is Star & Shadow Cinema – DERT HQ. They are serving food
6-10 and there are takeaways and supermarkets nearby. The coach trip also
arrives back at around 6pm, so I'm presuming that's when that opens up. The
Star and Shadow bar will stay open until midnight, then the Coal Yard open
11-2 (will need our DERT tickets to get in there though). An option for
food pre-Star and Shadow Cinema that has lots of space and would cater for
all our dietary needs is Wagamama - obviously we can see how we feel when
we arrive. Keep in touch on the WhatsApp, as I know not everyone is
arriving at the same time.
*Saturday:*
We need to be over in the Ouseburn for our warm up dance at 10am, so at the
moment the call will be 9am gathering in the hotel lobby ready to leave by
0915 via collecting some food if you need it. It may also be a good idea to
grab something to have for lunch later as I don't think we are near food
venues other than inside the pubs themselves.
Timetable in the link above. Have a blast of a day! We're going to be
awesome! 🕶
I've copied Becky's drinking rules etc. as I can't think of a better way to
phrase it!
**Drinking rules: as always I'm going to implement my have one drink before
we start to calm nerves. Laura obviously you do whatever you feel necessary
at this point! I will probably also suggest another drink in the afternoon,
but I want to avoid drinking too much until we're done! Westerhopers
obviously you can drink a bit during the day but please be sensible, it'd
be awful to have worked so hard only to go wrong due to a drink too many
during the day. During the evening we can go wild! Again, hoping a schedule
appears soon so that we can judge when we will be dancing both the trad and
the showcase. 🍸
**Lunch: the area doesn't have anywhere we can go specifically, although
the venues generally do food and snacks. As we aren't close to Byker at
lunch then I might suggest picking something up on route to make sure there
is something we want and that we can get it in time. 🍔
**Post-lunch and pre-trad dancing. Newcastle has many pubs that are happy
to have rapper but it's a match day so we might really struggle, especially
at lunch time. Again it all depends on location and timings as what will be
available, but we'll try!
If we're able to get some photos during the day to keep the buzz going on
social media (and also so we can post some after DERT so it looks like we
went!) Pop them on the Whatsapp when you're able to. 📷
We'll be done shortly after 1630 in the Cumberland and need to be in the
Tyne Theatre and Opera House at 1800 for the trad, I don't know what time
we are on, but regardless we should do our best to be there throughout to
support the other teams too/avoid stress about getting there in time. We
aren't able to take food and alcohol into the venue, but it is very
central, so there should be plenty of stuff nearby for popping out. Am
guessing that depending on what time Westerhope are up, might not want to
eat beforehand.
The after party once all that is done is back at the Star and Shadow
Theatre Bar, there will be shuttle buses over there, otherwise it is a 30
min walk. Again bar open until midnight, then the Coal Yard after that. 🍸
Sunday:
We usually find a pub (often Wetherspoons, but other pubs are available) on
the Sunday morning to have some breakfast/brunch/nurse hangovers etc. The
workshop will be at 10 in the Cumberland Arms, followed by the DERT reps
meeting (at least one of us will go to this) at 1115 followed by farewell
drinks, all in the Cumberland. We are then (most of us) on the 1301 train
back to London, which will get us in at 1551. So, if we can be at the
station by 1245 please to save me from worrying. 🍸
Hopefully that should cover it. Any questions, please do shout - you might
not be the only one wanting to know something!
Can't wait to see you all on Friday!
(Congratulations for reaching the end!!)
Thanks,
Hannah
*Room pairings: *
1 *Hannah N* & Martin
2 *Laura *& Paul
3 *Rachel *& Dan
4 *Katherine *& Tom R
5 *Becky *& Ffion
6 *Emma *& Hannah TD
7, 8, 9 take your pick: *Ellie*, Miriam, *Joanna*, Hannorah, Tori - one of
you is going to be lucky to have a room to yourself! Can one of you also
pretend to be *Rachel-Anne* please? a room is booked in her name...
10 *Will*
Sue booked her own in case anyone thinks I'm missing her out
Hi All,
Coming up this week... DERT! (No shit, Sherlock). You should all have
received a mega email from me and be busy polishing your shoes. Looks to be
cool-ish up there and might be a bit showery on Saturday.
Anyway, after that we have our EGM on 8th April, you should all have
received and Agenda, please do comment on it (thanks to those that already
have!). The other thing is to quickly fill in the sign-up sheet for it,
based on Monday, most people are able to come, but we do need to make sure.
Thanks for the mega-diary check on Monday for 23rd April, 1st May and 11th
May - if you were a maybe for Oxford, could you take a look at your diaries
in the next few days please? At the moment it is a no, but depending on the
maybes we could do the day but not the evening.
We have declined the invite from Dorset Moriarty to dance at
Avebury/Stonehenge on 14th July based on popular vote given we are dancing
at the Hammersmith DoD the day before.
Sign-up sheet here as always:

Hello everyone,
Thanks for a great final practice last night. I'm feeling really proud and know that we'll perform well, both teams have transformed their dances and are looking confident. Thanks for all the hard work from everyone over the last few months, it takes each individual to make it all come together at the end!
I'm afraid this week might be email heavy as Hannah is trying to organise EGM agenda (voted to have on Monday 8th) and then trying to get us all prepped for DERT this weekend. Please try and keep an eye on them, I'll feel much better if I think you all know where to be at the weekend.
I'll see lots of you on Friday 🙂
Becky xx
Hello,
Last practice before DERT, I think the only absence we have is Clare? Hopefully everyone else can make it for a final run-through the dancing 🙂
7-7.30 is clog (although I might just be at the practice hall and ok to do admin if that helps anyone).
Then focus will be final run throughs of the dancing, working on any last minute stuff so we all feel super confident. For Piccadilly I want to look at tits, as we're not landing in time. I don't know if the music could come down a tad? It's proper revving up in excitement and I'm not sure if that is also speeding it up? It might just be us being slow!
Westerhope I'm not sure what you're focus will be but I'd recommend just picking a couple of things!
KIT - I have an array of tshirts and tights to hand out. I know westerz you're comparing tops and gathering neckers/badges etc. Piccadilly also need to potentially do a temporary swap on kit as we have at least one manky skirt and one manky sash. I'm also needing the sparkle gun! My intention is for none of this to take too long, if you're at rapper early try and get this sorted then.
Showcase we'll run through double jubilee in correct numbers (obviously without Ffion) and probably a bit extra for Paul just so he's got a tiny bit more time to be confident!
Any questions about DERT please be in touch, it'd be nice to have them answered before tonight so don't dwell on it too much. We have the times and locations of main competition, but all we know is that trad is from 6 in the evening venue. I know Hannah will be in touch with more of a plan, but for now here is the timetable link https://dert2019.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/DERT2019-Timetable.pdf
See you all later,
Becky
Hi All,
Coming up this week... Piccadilly Crawl! Thursday, Farringdon-ish for the
final crawl before DERT. Watch out for details from Laura.
Otherwise not much else beyond the fact that it is DERT next weekend! I'll
be bringing train tickets for those travelling Friday evening to practice
on Monday, and hopefully will have a few more details for you all by then
as well.
Last week we made £106.56 on the Westerhope crawl and £228.04 on the
Piccadilly! If you're lucky Emma might even provide some graphs!!! ☺
Reminder to please fill in the sign up sheet. The lovely Mabels have
invited us to a day of dancing around Oxford followed by food and a ceilidh
(including dancing the display spot). We can easily get back to London
afterwards (leaving at about 11pm) so shouldn't be any issues on that
front. Otherwise please check diaries for London Folk Festival and Lewes
day of dance.
Also, if you can start filling in the crawls over the next few months - at
least up to Summer that should have us sorted for our pre-festival exploits.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Have a lovely week and see you soon!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all!
Piccadilly set have realised they need some smarter kit to get them through dert. Can people please bring what they have on Monday so we can find some ok stuff from different people.
All to be returned after dert!
Becky xx
Sent from my Huawei Mobile
Never had such a mixed response to asking to dance. Some people more
excited than I've ever seen anyone, others completely horrified by the
thought. Let's see what happens tomorrow and how it affects the graph!
Even though we're not dancing there, suggest we meet at Wetherspoons by
Farringdon Station at 7 to get ready. I'll probably be there earlier to
eat. Leave at 7.25 for 1st dance hopefully in The Coach at 7.30. Unless you
wanna double up with Thrales at the Betsy?
Then some or all of:
The Coach
The Gunmakers
The Clerk and Well
The Craft Beer Company
The Bleeding Heart
The Draft House
26 Furnival Street
The Inn at Court
Ends right by Chancery Lane station.
See you there xx
Hiya,
I'm hoping to narrow down discussion time on Monday so thought I'd raise this stuff now. Any questions let me know, please please read!!! 🙂
Friday - ideally wear kit branded stuff i.e. tshirt/hoody
Saturday - Westerhope need to decide what they're wearing during the day. We've had years where people wear kit, years where people wear ravens branded stuff but not kit and then change. Piccadilly obviously have to wear kit! We haven't had the info yet but, if there is time, we may well be able to swing past the hotel to grab kit if that was helpful.
ALSO:
** we need videos and photos from the day, otherwise we sometimes have very little to show for the day depending on what they have at each venue, I've not heard anything about filming. If you have a phone, or even camera and would like to do this that'd be great, the more people who do it the better!
**please support the dancers during the day. Ravens has always been amazing at this, looking out at excited ravens watching the team dance and responding can really lift your mood and make you smile (I have a very fond memory of looking out and seeing Emma stood on a chair clapping last year to make sure we could see her!). On the other hand, don't go too wild, it's not intended as a rent-a-crowd.
**Drinking rules: as always I'm going to implement my have one drink before we start to calm nerves. Laura obviously you do whatever you feel necessary at this point! I will probably also suggest another drink in the afternoon, but I want to avoid drinking too much until we're done! Westerhopers obviously you can drink a bit during the day but please be sensible, it'd be awful to have worked so hard only to go wrong due to a drink too many during the day. During the evening we can go wild! Again, hoping a schedule appears soon so that we can judge when we will be dancing both the trad and the showcase.
**Lunch: the area doesn't have anywhere we can go specifically, although the venues generally do food and snacks. Depending where we are at lunch (near the Cumberland) we're near Byker where there is a big morrisons, greggs and more. If we're not there I might suggest picking something up on route to make sure there is something we want and that we can get it in time.
**Post-lunch and pre-trad dancing. Newcastle has many pubs that are happy to have rapper but it's a match day so we might really struggle, especially at lunch time. Again it all depends on location and timings as what will be available, but we'll try!
Thanks all - you must have earned some sort of snack for reading this right?
Becky xx
Hi all,
We have one last practice before DERT - we'll go over the two competition dances as well as joint jubilee. But it's also a good chance to check on kit (I'll be distributing new tights and tshirts and I know westerhopers are bring their tops in to check.
Plan for double jubilee:
1. Rachel/ Emma
2. Tori/ Jo
3. Hannah N/ Hannah TD
4. Ellie/ Hannorah (or Laura- decide on the night)
5. Ffion/Katherine
These are the two sets, and ideally Paul is going in with the set with Rachel at 1 as that is the 3 and 4 he has practiced with.
Tights
Piccadilly set: 4x small 2x medium (1x medium for Sue, not sure who the other was for??)
Westerhope: 5x small (guessing you're a small Rachel?) and 1x medium
This is what I will be buying, if that doesn't sound right let me know by Friday night.
I'm hoping by Monday we will have a schedule so that we can have an actual plan. As yet we only know where we are on Friday and Saturday night!
Any questions about DERT please either message ahead or raise them on Monday.
See you soon!
Becky
Ok. Taking on board various suggestions we now have this:
Tower Ravens hail from deepest darkest London, where we practise in the shadow of the Tower of London. Accompanied by our wayward Beefeater we perform rapper sword dancing with speed and attitude. Most noted for our energy, agility and love of pubs we're looking forward to hitting the streets of Whitby hard! Look out for us at our workshops, dance spots and in the many drinking establishments Whitby has to offer.
Drinking establishments could be: bars, hostelry's, public houses?? But I think it's ok.
Currently struggling to access Sidmouth photos but will give it a go on my lunch break. Any other ideas let me know!
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Only two more practices until DERT! (How did that happen!?)
Absences: Clare, Fliss, Rachel - I think that's it? In light of this I think if Rachel-Anne is covering 5 in Westerhope?
Clog at 7 as per usual.
Hopefully we both had good crawls which can highlight things to work on. From a Piccadilly point of view I'd like to film a dance right at the start and then go from there, Jo I don't know if you want to do the same with Westerhope?
Also from Piccadilly I want to practice with Paul and Sue in the set, maybe with limiting our space so they can think about where to move etc. when we're tight on space.
KIT: I will be buying new tshirts and tights for the Piccadilly set (so they are all the same black) Westerhope do you have your tops? Can someone buy them all? Please think about what size you would normally have so this is decided before practice.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Funnily enough for a dance team, it's all about the dancing!
Sounds like you all had a lovely time dancing on Sunday, even if the second
pub weren't expecting you... not sure what happened there, though all my
communications were with Hen & Chickens, so perhaps they missed passing
confirmation on...
Coming up this week: *Westerhope Crawl* on Thursday around Angel starting
at 1915 in the Angel, *Piccadilly crawl* on Friday around Kentish Town,
start location TBC...
I've now added the crawls up until the end of the year - the July one I've
made a week earlier as otherwise it would be the day before Warwick and I
have a feeling that both Martin and Will are busy for the April one (may
have got my dates wrong though!) so we need to adjust that one.
While you are on the sign-up sheet,* St Albans is a No *- not much
enthusiasm for it, and it is would be right in the middle of a run of
things.
*Please, please please look at 7th September London Folk Festival at C#
House and Lewes Day of Dance 12th October.*
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
If you had any further suggestions on Becky's *Whitby bio,* please feed
that back asap as we need to send it off. We will also be letting them know
numbers by the end of May, so might be time to think about whether you are
bringing a plus 1 or not (and adding it to the sign-up sheet if so...)
*Camden Clog* are holding their workshop day on Saturday, so if you fancy a
day learning a clog dance, then C# is the place to be...
https://www.cecilsharphouse.org/component/content/article/22-csh-site/csh-e…
Have a lovely week of dancing! 💃
Thanks,
Hannah
Yo. Picadilly Crawl tomorrow:
Start at The Assembly House right by Kentish town station. Table booked
from 7pm. First dance dead on 7.30pm.
Then possibly The Pineapple (if you wanna do it outside)
The Oxford
The Lady Hamilton (maybe)
The Lion and Unicorn
The Grafton
Tapping the Admiral
The Old Eagle
The Draft House right be Camden Town Overground station.
Hope all goes well on westerz tonight. See y'all tomorrow xx
First off, thanks so much for doing the Paddys day gig last night. Haven't heard much but assume it went well - I was in bed by 9.30 so grateful I didn't need to dance!
Special thanks to Tori for sharing those photos as it allowed me to put them on facebook.
Tonight:
Absences I think is just Clare.
Ru is coming! We'll do clog as normal (she 99% won't be there for that so don't panic) and then stepping as normal. After that I want her to help DERT set with stepping (mainly doubles) then we will try and fit in lots of dancing as we've missed the last couple of weeks. Everyone else can have focus for the rest of the practice, while practicing Westerhope as well.
**Please have a think about stuff you struggle with in particular so you can try and voice it to her. A couple of people I've talked to about style, and I know a few people have rogue hands or feet!**
Please make the most of her, if you haven't met Ru before I cannot emphasise enough her powers of deduction when it comes to helping you with stepping. We won't have her again for a while (I wouldn't have thought) so get what you can from her!
See you later for clog and rapper.
Becky
Hello all,
We need a Whitby bio of max of 100 words by the end of March so thought I'd get the ball rolling. Would people please give this a read and suggest improvements/completely new version.
We also need a photo. Ideally one where we look awesome and aren't doing anything weird with our hands or feet.
Tower Ravens hale from deepest darkest London, where we practice in the shadow of the tower of London. Accompanied by our wayward beefeater we perform rapper sword dancing with speed and attitude. Most noted for our energy, agility and love of pubs we're looking forward to hitting the streets and pubs of Whitby hard! Look out for us at some of our workshops, dance spots and in the many pubs.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi guys,
Thanks for a slightly random practice - think we managed some reasonable work on westerhope and jubilee as well as stepping for piccadilly, despite all the absences.
Next week, the 18th, Ru is definitely coming. Please be there!! My aim is to start with her helping piccadilly people, mainly doubles and then we can get on with doing the dance and she can focus on everyone else for style and fixing any rogue feet 🙂
This week we have St Paddy's night on Sunday at 6 at the Hen and Chicken near Highbury and Islington, then walk to the Alwyne Castle (3 minute walk away) for 7-8. Please note the times are actually for Nikki and Ozzy to play. I would suggest we do two rapper dancers and a clog in between at each pub (think 6.15,6.30 and 6.45) but please check this with Nikki. Order should be Jubilee, clog then westerhope.
We should get a round of free drinks at each pub *yay* and if we can collect please do, but remember to ask with each pub as we are already getting paid.
Numbers:
Jubilee-
1. Emma
2. Tori/Fliss
3. Hannah TD
4. Laura/Ellie
5. Rachel-Anne/Ellie
Westerhope -
1. Ellie
2. Tori
3. Hannah TD
4. Emma
5. Rachel-Anne
6. Laura
I have decided not to come along simply due to me being so busy at the moment. My life basically consists of working, rapper dancing and wedding prep so if I can have a sneaky night off it'd be really appreciated. Fliss has the swords already so no problems there.
Have fun and see you on Monday!
Becky xx
Apologies to those of you who have been waiting with bated breath to hear how much we raised on Thursday.
Unfortunately I dropped my phone down the loo on Friday night. No joke. Will teach me not to stash it in my back pocket - textbook fail!
Anyway it means I'm off WhatsApp for the next few days.
So for those who can't wait til Monday, we raised (drum-roll please)....
£117.35
€2.64
1 Polish Grosz (equivalent value - about £0.002) 😂
Hi All,
1. Upcoming
2. Sign-ups
3. AOB
1. Upcoming: Westerhope Crawl on 7th meet at 1915 at the Shakespeare's Head
in Holborn (Spoons). Hannorah has the swords and will hand them to Jo to
bring next Monday.
Paddy's night on 17th March. Music and dancing at 6 in the Hen & Chickens
Theatre Bar for an hour and then over to Alwyne Castle afterwards for the
same. You will have a round of drinks in both. Nikki & Ozzy will be playing
for you all. Please note that this is the start time so you will need to be
there beforehand. I'll let you know if any further details come through
this week, but probably be more likely next week. Have a fabulous time!
Katherine has offered to bring her kit on Monday for Fliss to borrow.
18th March we have Ru coming to help us with our stepping - am sure Becky
will remind you next week ☺
2. Sign-ups
St Albans - they need to know by the end of March whether or not we would
be coming. Lewes Day of Dance are also looking for a response soon as well.
Please also fill in for the London Folk Festival on 7th September (same
organiser as Poplar that we've just had to say no to... please note, Poplar
has now been declined and is no longer on the sign-up sheet).
We had an invite to Broadstairs which we have declined - maybe next year
(it is soo close to Whitby). Long Man Morris Men also invited us to a
midsummer thing, but we are going to Windsor instead ☺
Sign-up sheet here:

We agreed to try out a set of Jimmy's black handled swords. He'll also fix
our broken ones (apparently we're the first to break his!).
If you still need new shoes for DERT please try and buy them soon so you
can wear them in a bit. Think there may end up being a mass shoe soling
experience as well at some point. If money is a bit tight, please speak to
the treasurer team (Emma/Sue).
If you fancy some DERT merch, you can order here:
https://dert2019.co.uk/shop/
Westerz crawl made £165.90 plus ~£10 in foreign currency. Emma, can you let
us know what we made on the Piccadilly one when you get back please?
Have a lovely couple of weeks and see you soon!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Fliss, Emma, Martin (covered by Aly), Clare?? Sorry Clare I've lost track!
Jo is bringing the swords and Ellie is opening the hall at 7 for clog.
As we don't have Emma we are very limited as to what we can do with Piccadilly so we will focus on some stepping as well as organising double Jubilee for the show case as well as continuing to work on Westerhope for those not in the trad team. Westerhope can work on what they did on Saturday led by Jo.
I'm not feeling a 100% but if people wanted to go for a drink after practice to be sociable with Aly that would be great, having a spare musician with Pat generally not being available would be highly beneficial for the team so make her welcome!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi guys
Sorry for mass email, but I don't have some individual addresses. Everyone is welcome tomorrow, even if you haven't declared an interest.
I'd like to start around 11am if possible, but come any time after that. There's plenty to do even if you're not a confident seamstress.
I'm at 25, Pearfield Road, London SE23 2LP<x-apple-data-detectors://16>. The nearest station is Forest Hill, with 4 trains an hour from London Bridge (13 mins). It is also served by 8 Overground trains an hour from Whitechapel, Canada Water, etc. Exit from Platform 2, turn right and walk along Perry Vale for half a mile or so. Pearfield Road will be on your right. The 356 bus goes along Perry Vale and stops at Siddons Road, but it only appears every 20 mins at best, so unless you're lucky, it's not worth waiting for. But if you phone me from the train, I'll pop along and pick you up in the car.
There don't appear to be any closures tomorrow, thank goodness.
Tomorrow there are also 2 trains an hour from Blackfriars to Penge East (but not from Victoria). The 75 bus stops very close to the exit from Platform 2 and takes you to Siddons Road in about 8 mins, which is 2 mins from my house. Or you can phone and I'll pick you up. Can't guarantee to check messages immediately.

I'll provide some form of simple lunch. Does anyone have any preferences/requirements?
Look forward to seeing you.

Hi All,
Sorry for taking forever to get round to this, though Becky's email has
covered off everything happening this week!
Tomorrow we have another sewing day at Sue's house to try and get more of
the kit sorted out. Sue can you give a time that you would like to start?
Sign-ups
Hen & Chickens Paddy's night on 17th March is now confirmed. Basically 1
hour at the first pub music and dancing with drinks, then an hour at the
Alwyne Castle - 3 minutes walk away with a drink each there. We are also
being paid for this :) We have Nikki and Ozzy for music.
We're now mostly up to date on the sign up sheet, but Lewes Day of Dance
need to know whether we are coming or not to help with their planning. SO
please take a look at this one (12th October). We also have outstanding
invites for London Folk Festival 7th September in C# House and St Albans
Folk Ferstival. I think Poplar Folk Fest on 4th May will be a no.
See you Monday if not before, and happy practising Westerz!
Hannah
Hello all,
I've been trying to negotiate a practice that Ru can come and help us with stepping since before Christmas. We have provisionally in the diary the 18th March. Is there anyone that can't make this practice?
The point will be to help people who are struggling with any stepping just generally, new people who can step but maybe don't quite have our style, and in particular doubles for piccadilly set.
Ru is very good at looking at your stepping and understanding why it doesn't look quite right. i.e. if your knees are bent funny, or your hips aren't angled enough, or your not hopping right etc.
Please let me know asap if you can't make it. Frustratingly I left my diary at home, so apologies if you've already said you can't and I'm missing it!
Thanks,
Becky
