Hey all,
Thanks for the practice last night. I think we got a lot done and hopefully Westerhope are feeling more confident with the plan for chain (to be confirmed on Saturday) and tommys for what will happen with Piccadilly!
Thought I'd message as this week is pretty full!
Tonight Piccadilly set are crawling around Paddington (no Sue)
I will leave the swords with Katherine so she can take them to the Westerhope crawl in Brixton as she is covering 4. Ellie is organising this and will send details once she has them.
The swords then need to be left with someone to bring on Saturday for the Westerhope day practice, I would suggest Ellie again, but fight that out.
Saturday is a Westerhope day practice at the usual practice hall. Starting at 11, finishing around 4.30. Hannorah is whizzing from Gatwick in the morning, I will most likely be covering her for the first couple of hours. I have given the keys to Ffion in case I can't make it.
At the end of practice Ffion please leave the keys with Ellie. Swords can go with whoever, as long as they remember to bring them on Monday, on pain of death.
Thanks!
Becky
The crawl tomorrow starts at The Monkey Puzzle, 30 Southwick St, W12 1JQ.
There's a space booked for us from 7pm. The floor is mainly carpet, but
there's a small wood area that should do. I struggled to get yeses so I
didn't want to say turn the owner down when he rang to say yes. After that
we'll be at The Duke of Kendal, The Royal Exchange, Fountains Abbey,
Sawyers Arms and maybe The Dickens Tavern. The first three are all very
small spaces - Becky you might need to make a judgement call when you see
them.
Also they're not that near each other, so there's a bit of walking - sorry!
The nearest station to the first pub is Edgeware Road. The last pub is
close to Paddington station, shame the two pubs actually inside the station
said no...

Hello all,
I'll see you at 7 for clog, 7.30 for rapper.
Absences: Hannorah, Rachel, Rachel-Anne - anyone else let me know!
Katherine will be covering 4 on the westerhope crawl on Thursday so will need to practice this tonight. We also need cover for 5 in westerhope, which I think Emma can do?
The rest of us I think could do with some work on stepping. I'd also like to look at westerhope with other people so that post DERT we can just do a push to performance rather than going back to square one with learning.
We will do some piccadilly work just to remind ourselves what we worked on at the weekend, but as we're crawling tomorrow I don't want to push it too much.
We also need to prioritise making decisions on chain as the notation is due so soon.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
1. Coming up
2. Becky's Wedding
3. Sign-ups
4. Shoes!
1. Coming up - Piccadilly day practice on Saturday in our usual practice
hall starting at 1030 sharp. Next week we then have a Piccadilly crawl on
Tuesday(26th) and Westerhope on Thursday (28th).
2. Becky's Wedding! If you haven't confirmed whether you can make it,
please do. Also, if you have any dietary requirements and haven't told
Becky this, please do so asap. The venue is about a 15min taxi ride from
the station or about half an hour on the bus. The last train home is at
2335 or alternatively you could stay in Bedford, Martin and I have booked
into the Premier Inn and looks like rooms are now £44.50 - other
accommodation is available.
3. Sign-ups wise, Hammersmith is confirmed, as is Windsor on 22nd June.
In terms of other sign-ups, if the no-replies could take a look at the Hen
& Chickens Paddy's night on 17th March so we can work out what dancing we
would be able to do asap, that would be much appreciated - we'll be
confirming to them imminently that we are available.
It would be useful to get a better idea of are the 4th May Poplar festival
- at the mo if all no-replies and maybes were a yes it might be possible,
but we are borderline. Please take a look at St Albans (29th June), London
Folk Fest (7th Sept) and Lewes (12th Oct).
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
4. Rapper shoes - if you might need some for DERT, please order asap so you
have time to wear them in. You can always wear your current ones as outdoor
dancing ones for not quite best if they still have mileage but are maybe
not at their best anymore. This one appears to have pretty much all sizes:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scimitar-Parade-Mens-Capped-Oxford-Cadet-Boots-B…
Thanks,
Hannah
Anna is coming to help with sweeps and jumps. Mainly for westerhope side but if there is time we could probably all do with a go/listening to some advice. This might simply work to be passed on later - so the focus is very much Westerz!
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Clog is on tonight so we'll be starting that at 7.
Absences are Katherine and Clare. Think everyone else is around, please let me know if not.
We should have the whole westerhope team and rachel-anne if we can have you for 5 in piccadilly?
Good week for watching and helping!
Thanks,
Becky

Hi All,
Massive thank you from me for all the responses yesterday and Sunday about
DERT trains. We are finally booked! Well, those I was booking for and those
who have already been organised. So in summary - people with train tickets
are: Ellie, Emma, Hannah N, Hannah TD, Katherine (booked own), Laura,
Martin, Miriam, Paul, Sue, Tori and Will. So only Becky, Ffion, Hannorah,
Joanna, Rachel and Rachel-Anne left. I'll probably remind you all in a
couple of weeks ☺ Operation DERT is a go! 🚂
We made £186.47 on the crawl last week, thanks to those that came out and
helped support collect etc.
It has been decided that we are now going to have a "safe word" if you are
being bothered by someone and would like someone to assist you while we're
out and about on crawls etc. - just start talking about "Mr Lock" and
someone will intervene. (Think a couple of people were giving Paul a bit of
grief for his outfit).
No official Ravens things this week, though Ffion said she'll be going to
the C# house ceilidh on Friday if anyone wants to join.
*So... sign ups!*
*New Invites!*
22nd June Windsor Morris Home Tour in Windsor, dancing around the town
centre and at pubs 11-4. Ellie dancing with them, so would be lovely to go.
If you would only do one of this or St Albans, please do this one. It was
suggested last night that we could stay on after and crawl some pubs if we
fancy. Only 40mins from Paddington...
London Folk Festival 7th September - we did this about 3 years ago, think
we did a ceilidh spot in the evening and we were able to go to anything
else during the day.
We had a return invite to Faversham Hop Festival on 31st Aug/1st Sept, but
decided to decline this as we went last year.
Could you also take a quick look at 4th May Poplar Festival, this is fairly
unlikely, but a possibility if all the maybes and no-replies were yeses...
Sign-up sheet here if you need the link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi all,
First off, there will be no clog as Ellie isn't around so we'll aim for standard 7.30 rapper start.
Absences: Ellie, Hannorah, Rachel and Emma. Anyone else please let me know.
Jo and Hannorah I know Hannah is desperately trying to get hold of you to firm up trains for DERT!
Due to the absences, tonight will be a bit mixed but we should be able to do some Westerhope and Piccadilly with people standing in.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Sorry for the delay in doing this, had a monster of a cold this week. If
you could all attempt to answer by 3pm today, that would be much
appreciated. I may start booking some as they are confirmed just to make
sure we make the most of cheap prices. Please take a look over the below
and let me know if there are any issues with it.
Friday afternoon tickets - best deal is at 1500 arrives 1750 (£31.70) - so
am assuming that Ellie, Hannah TD, Jo, Miriam, Tori will all be happy with
that? Miriam, do you have a railcard?
Friday evening - train at 1800 arrives 2048 (£45.85). At the mo we have
Laura, Paul, Emma, and probably me and Martin. Assuming this is ok?
(Alternatively we can pay an extra £19,50 each to go first class (at our
own expense) and get dinner and effectively unlimited drinks (including
alcohol!), as well as lots of space on what would otherwise be a very busy
Friday evening train).
Sunday - I think the 1350 is our best bet - allows plenty of time for
brunch / workshop and the DERT reps meeting. Tickets at £36.95 and gets
back to London at 1644.
Katherine, Becky, Ffion and Rachel - I think you're all sorting yourselves.
Hannorah and Rachel-Anne - would you like to travel on either of these
trains or would you prefer to sort yourselves?
Sue - I'll book you on the Sunday one as I know you've already got your
ticket up.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi everyone
Thanks to Rachel-anne, Tori, Fliss and Hannah, we had an enjoyable and reasonably productive day's sewing last Saturday, but there's still much to be done.
We have another session this Sunday, starting around 11am at my house. Yes, you even get a lie-in! Everyone is welcome and you don't need to be a confident seamstress because there is a lot of cutting, sparkling, ironing and tea-making involved and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped the team and saved me SEW much time (sorry!).
Travel details are in my original message, which I can't see at the moment, but Outlook is promising will be included with this message. Unfortunately the Overground will be closed for engineering, but there are replacement buses and the trains from London Bridge aren't affected. There is no Sunday service direct to Forest Hill from Victoria, but there's the normal service from Victoria to Penge East and you can probably travel via Norwood Junction, though I haven't had time to look that up.
Lunch will be provided, hopefully with something a little stronger than tea, if I remember this time.
So I look forward to seeing as many as possible on Sunday. Any questions - give me a shout.

Subject: Saturday sewing
Hi everyone
Hannah - could you please forward this to Fliss? I don't have her individual address.
Thank you so much for agreeing to help make some kit on Saturday. I'll try to get going some time after 10am and you are welcome to come along any time after that. We'll pack up by 4.30pm at the latest, but please don't feel you must stay until then.
I have 2 electric sewing machines and there will be a lot of cutting, hand-sewing and application of sparkles to be done, so if you have sharp scissors of any size, that will be helpful. No worries if not.
I'm at 25, Pearfield Road, London SE23 2LP. The nearest station is Forest Hill, with 2 trains an hour from Victoria (30 mins) and 4 an hour from London Bridge (13 mins). It is also served by 8 Overground trains an hour from Whitechapel, Canada Water, etc. Exit from Platform 2, turn right and walk along Perry Vale for half a mile or so. Pearfield Road will be on your right. The 356 bus goes along Perry Vale and stops at Siddons Road, but it only appears every 20 mins at best, so unless you're lucky, it's not worth waiting for. But if you phone me from the train, I'll pop along and pick you up in the car.
Alternatively there are 4 Orpington trains an hour from Victoria and Brixton to Penge East. The 75 bus stops very close to the exit from Platform 2 and takes you to Siddons Road in about 8 mins, which is 2 mins from my house.
Hope this link works. As you know, I'm rather technically challenged.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Penge+East/@51.4311234,-0.0615602,15z/dat…
I'll probably organise some soup, bread and fruit for lunch, but feel free to bring any other snacks to keep you going.
Any questions - ask me tomorrow!
S x
PS My kitchen heating isn't working, so please bring plenty of layers
Hello,
Here are some details for the gig I mentioned on Monday:
On Friday 22 February The Foxglove Trio (me, Patrick and our friend Cathy) and Brown Boots (Martin and Will) are playing at Aces and Eights in Tufnell Park. I think it starts at 7.45pm. You can buy tickets in advance here which might be a good idea as it's a fairly small venue. https://www.wegottickets.com/event/461956
It's probably going to be The Foxglove Trio's last gig in London for quite a while so it would be lovely to see you there!
In case you've not heard either of the bands before The Foxglove Trio sound like this
https://youtu.be/qforUupArg0 and Brown Boots sound like this

Hiya Piccadilly people,
He's the list of pubs for tomorrow -
The Court. YES. Table booked from 7pm. Nearest Station is Warren St, but
close to Euston too.
The Fitzrovia Belle. YES
The Carpenters Arms. Maybe
The Fitzrovia. YES
The Rising Sun. YES
College Arms. YES, 2 dances? There's another space downstairs.
Jack Horner. Maybe
The Flying Horse. Maybe, directly opposite To Co Ro tube station.
I've got people to email, ring and go in again tomorrow to try to turn
those maybes into yeses.
Simon at The Court didn't ask my name from the booking but he said he
remembered us and we have the table in the back corner, behind the bar.
See you tomorrow!

Hi All,
Please look out for emails / doodles to get fast answers on DERT trains.
I'll get booking as soon as I can. In the mean time...
1. Coming up
2. Sign-ups
1. Coming up this week we have a Piccadilly crawl on Friday - I think
probably around Tottenham Court Road, but watch out for details later in
the week.
Sunday - the sewing continues! I'll let Sue decide on a time she wants to
start. If you have kit that needs work and didn't hand it in last week,
please try and get it to her on Friday.
2. Sign-ups:
New Invite - Poplar Folk Festival at the Poplar Union Arts Centre on 4th
May. Details so far are that there will be concerts from 2, but events in
the cafe area starting from 1230.
Declined Invites - We have declined Wimborne Minster Festival. People
didn't really seem all that keen and they wanted to know mid-Feb, which is
basically now.
Other Invites -
Hen & Chickens were looking at trying to do Saturday now instead of Sunday,
but from a quick check last night, this didn't work for numbers. Will
update on whether they change their minds again...
Other events that still have some no-replies and maybes:
Becky's Wedding
St Albans Folk Festival
Hammersmith are 60! (could do with an answer asap please!!!)
Lewes Day of Dance
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Have a lovely week.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Can you believe it, tonight holds more rapper! Thanks so much for the commitment and hard work of everyone over the last few days. Top prize goes to Sue and Hannah who have attended everything, closely followed by Martin 😊
Tonight absences: Hannorah, Rachel and Miriam. Martin will be covered by Will.
Clog as normal at 7.
I'm hoping tonight we can work on any issues which crawls/ Piccadilly day practice flagged. This will probably lead to some rather intensive points - as we don't have Hannorah or Rachel all help with Westerhope will be vital, and having people to watch Piccadilly to see if we're actually improving will be great!
See you later,
Becky x
Well done guys. A lovely thank you from Centrepoint, though I can't actually see the attachment!

Hi Sue,
Apologies for the delay in response.
Thank you so much for paying the £200 donation in, I can confirm we received it in our account.
That sounds incredible, I just watched a video now and it looks like a lot of fun!
I have attached a letter of thanks for you to share with the team.
Once again, thank you so much for your kind donation from the team and voting to support Centrepoint this Christmas, your support will help make a huge difference to the lives of homeless young people across the UK
Thanks so much and best wishes,

Hi Lucy
Thanks for sending me the bank details. This is just to let you know that I've paid £200 into the Centrepoint account on behalf of Tower Ravens.
We are a dance team who perform a style of traditional sword dance from the North-East of England, called rapper. We perform at folk festivals around the country and we go on a London pub crawl each month (details on Facebook). We usually collect money to help cover our expenses, but we like to make a big effort for charity every Christmas. This year we unanimously voted for Centrepoint.
You can find us here:

and there are various videos on You Tube.
With very best wishes

Hi Sue,
Naomi passed your details on to me after you spoke on the phone – it’s amazing to hear your dance troupe has raised over £200 at Christmas! This is incredible and I’m so pleased you chose to support Centrepoint with this.
How did you raise this, was it through a show?
I have attached our bank details for you, please use the reference ‘11COM dance’ if you can, so I can spot it in our account
Once you’ve sent this over, I’ll send you over an acknowledgement/thank you letter for you to share with the troupe.
Thank you for choosing to support Centrepoint. Centrepoint is the leading national charity working to give homeless young people a future. We work with 10,000 young people every year providing accommodation, raising aspirations and equipping them with the skills they need to thrive independently. Our work supporting vulnerable young people wouldn’t be possible without support from people like yourselves, so thank you very much for your generosity.
Best wishes

Hi All,
As brief a summary I can manage for the week...
1. Upcoming events
2. DERT Reminder
3. Sign-ups
4. AOB
1. - Westerhope Crawl around Euston, starting at the Rocket on Thursday
31st Jan, please be there at 1915 dancing starting at 1930.
- Piccadilly crawl on Friday - details to be confirmed!
- Sewing Day on Saturday! Sue has sent details out to those that are
coming, but if you are free and want to get your thread on, let her know!
(Also if you have kit that needs work / is needed as a template for someone
else, please hand it in after your crawl.)
- And finally Piccadilly practice on Sunday in the Abbey Community Centre
from 1030!
Wow! So much Raven ☺
2. So, DERT! We have somewhere to stay! Found a link for the Jury's Inn
that only cost a little more than previously thought, so we're all booked
up.
So, now we need to get trains sorted asap. There are still quite a few
people that haven't filled in the doodle about time of day, if you could
all please do so by next Monday that will make sorting trains possible. Any
further info on Railcards would be helpful as well.
3. Sign-ups. The main one to fill in is Hammersmith's Day of Dance on 13th
July - we could do with giving them an answer asap. There are then other
events that need to know by mid-Feb (Wimborne) so please take a look and
fill yourselves in as either Yes or No (maybe is not so helpful right now
for these).
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
4. AOB - Emma found somewhere to buy a card reader for crawls for £30, so
she is going to get one. At the last crawl we made £187 and the piece of
crap was a screw.
Thanks all and see you at something Raven-y!
Hannah
Hi All
Anyone planning on coming on the crawl on Thursday, let’s meet at The Rocket on Euston Rd at 7.15 (ready to dance at 7.30).
I have one tankard. Do others have collecting vessels they’re planning on bringing?
Hx
Hi All,
Next Saturday is the sewing day where we're hoping to revamp / replace /
make any missing kit. So.. could you please bring in your skirts, sashes
and petticoats on Monday. If you can pop them in a bag with your name on
that will help us make sure everyone gets the right bits back.
If your kit is 100% fine, then don't worry about bringing it in. Not sure
how far we'll get, but I believe Sue has a list of priorities.
If you are free on Saturday and fancy helping out one way or another
(sewing abilities not essential) then please add yourselves to the sign-up
sheet.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
Apologies for being a bit late getting this one out...
1. Coming up!
2. DERT reminder
3. Sign-ups
1. Crawl this evening - you should have all the info from Ellie/ First
dance at 1930, so please be ready to go before then.
Westerhope Day practice on Sunday 27th 1030-4 at the Abbey Community
Centre, 222C Belsize Road, London, NW6 4DJ.
2. Quick DERT reminder - if you owe me info about trains or accomm, please
let me know asap. I am going to have to find somewhere else for us to stay
as the Jury's Inn is hideously expensive now - any suggestions most
welcome.. (please?) The minute I find somewhere suitable I will book it.
There are still some places on the DERT Friday coach tour if anyone would
like to go (the bus was bigger than they had previously thought, so a few
more seats available!)
3. Sign-ups - We need to let Hammersmith know about their Day(13th July) -
please try to move yourself from a maybe asap. We will also need to let
Wimborne Festival know soon and at the moment we have a lot of maybes and
No's - probably almost enough fro a team.
Other sign-ups -we have the Paddy's night thing at hen and Chickens, thanks
for all the responses on Monday, just sorting out details and a musician
and then I'll let you know. If you weren't there on Monday / didn't know
your availability, please take a look.
Also still needing some attention: Becky's Wedding! St Albans Folk
Festival, Lewes Day of Dance
As always - sign up sheet here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
See you soon!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi,
Crawl tomorrow will start at the lord nelson in Southwark.
Other pubs:
The ring
The crown
The windmill
Kings arms
White hart
Hole in the wall (they weren’t sure)
Possible pubs along the way:
The Union Jack
The stage door
The Wellington
See you tomorrow!
Ellie
Hi all,
Here's a video of the clog dance I was failing to teach.
Ottawa Waltz.MOV
<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G69uSuL190xmGnkrwJzR6C191qV74qva/view?usp=…>
It's called Ottawa waltz and makes a bit more sense with the music! The
tune is Crested Hen's but I imagine other French Canadian/French tunes
might also work.
I haven't asked for Joan's permission to share this video of her dancing so
best not to share it even further, but I couldn't think of another way of
showing how the dance is done to that tune.
Thanks,
Ellie
Hi All,
Two very important things for DERT... travel and accommodation! (Please do
read to the end, I know it's a long email!) 🚂
But first, I have some further information about the Friday Coach Tour... 🚃
Summary as follows (for more detail, I've pasted the full email at the
bottom of this email):
Pick up in central Newcastle (somewhere convenient for the station) at
1230, back at DERT Q for 6. Will try to fit in as many of the mining
villages as possible (except Amble and Beadnell - too far north and Murton
- too far south) with commentary en route. Sallyport will perform some
dances in the relevant locations, unless anyone wishes to volunteer to do
it for them!
If you arrive around 1230 or just after at the station and you let them
know, then they'll do their best to arrange to wait for the train. Tour
will cost £15-£20 depending on how many are interested, and you book by
emailing vincerutland21(a)gmail.com - though I am happy to help arrange this
if there are multiple people interested.
*Travel*
Advance tickets are currently available for the Friday, but not the Sunday,
so nearly time to book! It'll take about 3 hours each way. On the Sunday we
tend to leave after lunch, generally together, though if anyone has any
specific times they need to be back / don't want to travel with us, please
let me know. In terms of the Friday as we all have differing work
commitments, we'll probably end up split out into groups - so please fill
in the doodle about what time of day you would like to travel:
https://doodle.com/poll/chi25gspzrxpzzer This will help us group up people
on trains and might help get some cheaper tickets if some of those people
don't have railcards.
I think the following people have a railcard - if that is no longer the
case or you won't have a valid railcard for DERT, please let me know.
Likewise and if you have one and are not on the list. I feel like I'm
missing some people...
16-25: Hannah TD, Emma, Katherine
26-30: Hannah N
Senior: Sue
Two-Together: Becky, Ffion, Rachel
*Accommodation*
After my check of the accommodation in the area near the train station and
the Ouseburn, hostels are way more expensive than a cheap hotel. The
cheapest two were the Jury's Inn and EasyHotel - with preference from those
there on Monday for the Jury's Inn - which will probably work out at about
£30 or so each for the weekend (depends on configurations as we can put
wither 2 or 3 people in each room). Would be good to get this sorted asap
in case the saver rate expires.
So, would anyone like to stay with someone that isn't already coming? (e.g.
partner from another team, random plus one you forgot to mention before...)
There are now *evening tickets available* for the showcase, so any guests
can come to the whole thing as there isn't a charge to be in the pub! If
you would like to bring an additional person, please let me know asap, as I
want to get accommodation booked asap.
If there is anyone that you would particularly like to share a room with,
please let me know as that might help me work out the logistics.
Congratulations, you reached the end! Have a biscuit! ☺
Any questions, please shout!
Thanks,
Hannah
Full Invite to Coach Tour:
Dear all,
*Hop on the bus to see where rapper began!*
Hundreds of us will be at DERT 2019 in Newcastle – but how many can bore
their pals with a myriad of stories about the places our dances began and
what went on there?
Your peers may have uttered mysterious place names such as Winlaton,
Walbottle or Westerhope in deep conversations on the origins of rapper.
But do they know which team danced with tiny cymbals in their insteps, or
what the Amble team used clothes pegs for?
Now’s your chance to find out for yourself and bring all of this to life!
Your chance to find out comes on Friday, 5th April, when DERT 2019 puts on
an afternoon guided coach tour taking in as many of the villages which once
had rapper traditions as we can fit in. Legendary villages like Swalwell,
where Cecil Sharp saw his first rapper sword dance back in 1910, and
Earsdon where he went next. Not to mention Winlaton, Bedlington and
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
We’ll take in all these places and, where possible, stop for a small
libation and a practical demonstration of some of the dances in their
original locations, courtesy of Sallyport. A commentary will keep you
entertained (or help you nod off) and informed on some of the local sword
dancing and other history before we arrive back at DERT HQ some time
between 5.30 and 6pm.
The tour will leave Newcastle at around 12.30pm, from a venue close to
Central Station. If you’re due to arrive around that time or maybe shortly
after, and let us know as soon as possible, we’ll do our best to arrange to
wait for your train.
To book, email vincerutland21(a)gmail.com (copied in) as soon as possible.
Tickets will cost somewhere between £15 and £20 per seat, depending on
numbers, and are strictly limited.
Many thanks,
The DERT 2019 Committee
Hi All,
There will be a separate email about DERT related stuff, so please keep an
eye out for that.
1. Upcoming
2. Sewing day
3. Sign-ups old and new
1. So, first event of the year will be the joint Piccadilly and Westerhope
crawl next Thursday around Waterloo - details next week from the lovely
Ellie. Following that we have the first Westerhope practice on 27th Jan.
2. Most likely day will be 2nd Feb - so there will be a call for kit to
come in on the Monday before (28th). I think Sue will be emailing details
for this. We may also make use of 3rd March, so please also put this one in
your diaries. I've added these to the sign-up sheet as a reminder. If you
didn't reply before, could you please add yourselves to these dates.
Alternatively given the low response rate, just fill in the doodle:

3. Sign ups for the summer - we have a number of events that we confirmed
before Christmas, but there are still a few to go - most of which will need
a response by end of Jan or mid-Feb. So - could you please take a look at
the following:
Wimborne Minster Festival 7-9th June
St Albans Folk Festival 29th June
13th July Hammersmiths 60th - they have sent us a reminder for this one...
In terms of new invites, Lewes 10th Day of Dance (and final as the festival
is no more) is on 12th October. Lewes is about an hour or so away by train
- town centre close to the station. We would be dancing in pubs (yay!) and
possibly also on the pedestrian precinct as well. They are hoping to get
around 25 teams there for the final year.
The Hen & Chickens bar (that we danced at on our Christmas crawl) have also
asked us to dance on Paddy's Day (17th March), unfortunately at the mo all
I have in terms of info is that they would like us to dance... Am working
on it at the mo, but thought I'd at least get you all thinking as this one
(and a couple of others) ended up in Spam... oops!
We also had an invite to Hitchin Day of Dance on 20th July which given
proximity to the Kimpton (6th) and Hammersmith (13th) invites, I think we
will need to turn down this year - unless anyone has any particularly
strong feelings.
So, sign-up sheet in the usual place..

Have a lovely week.
Thanks,

17th march hen and chickens paddys day - just finding out what it was
thanks to my emails doing stupid things...
Hello all,
Absences: Rachel, Hannorah, Laura, Rachel-Anne and Fliss (who is dropping the swords off an then leaving).
Ellie is opening up and will be clogging from 7. Normal practice start at 7.30, Ffion to lead stepping if I'm not there yet. Due to people we have, the focus will be Westerhope to get it dance-out ready.
The rest of us, depending who we are, will look at Westerhope as well/ some Jubilee. And generally try and be useful!
See you later,
Becky
Hello,
You may have heard me talk about the Mari Lwyd on Monday. This is a traditional Welsh new year celebration. We take Mari (a decorated horse skull) around The Boot, The Harrison and The Calthorpe pubs in the Kings Cross area to wish people a happy new year. There's some singing and drinking at the pubs and then we have a twmpath (Welsh ceilidh) in the London Welsh Centre.
It's a lot of fun and several Ravens will be coming along. More info on Facebook here - https://www.facebook.com/events/539299196545683/
