Hi all,
Sorry for the million emails! I can’t work out how to email just the relevant people so please ignore if you’re not involved in shared accommodation.
I’ve now heard back from everyone who’s a ‘yes’ on the sign up sheet. Thanks for replying so quickly! I’ll book a place for Hannah N & Martin, Emma & Tim, Tori, Hannah TD, Laura and myself (changed my mind!), so 8 people in total. I’ve found somewhere near the harbour with 4 bedrooms (3 doubles, one twin) and a sofa bed in the communal space. Which means that couples get there own room, 1 person can have their own double, 2 people will share a twin and one on the sofa bed. (I’m happy with any of those). This will cost £124 pp for the week. Please could everyone on the list confirm that they are happy with this?

Hi all,
So far I have the following responses from people about Whitby
accommodation:
People with separate accommodation already booked: Ffion, Rachel, Becky,
Katharine.
People wanting to book shared accommodation with other ravens: Hannah &
Martin, Emma & Tim, Tori.
Camping: Me (lol).
There are still about 3-4 houses left on Airbnb that would be between
£155-180 pp for the week for 5 people (with space for 1-2 others). If these
are the final responses from everyone then I will liaise with Emma to book
somewhere ASAP.
If I haven't mentioned your name above and you would like to join the
shared accommodation group or have any queries, please email by *tonight.*
Thanks!
Ellie
Hi All,
Firstly, I have now confirmed us for Warwick! Woop woop! (Numbers obviously
not confirmed yet.)
1. Things to fill out asap (doodle 1, doodle 2, house)
2. Upcoming Events
3. Things to fill out slightly less asap
4. Other sign-ups
*1. Things to fill out asap *
Sooo, most importantly Becky's *doodle for day practices* - if you haven't
yet done it please try and fill it in as best you can. You won't be having
to do every weekend and we'll hopefully be able to make decisions soon (if
you fill it in) - usually ends up being up to 3 daytime practices.
<https://doodle.com/poll/q66xs8gai9xgfzxq>*
Next up - here's a* doodle for the Christmas crawl*, as currently we can't
do the 13th - please fill in asap so we can find a viable date...
<https://doodle.com/poll/sq4hhwu33kiiuhwn>*
If you were interested in a house at Whitby, please let Ellie know asap by
replying to her email. She is looking at this this week.
*2. Upcoming Events*
Next week there will be a crawl, most likely around Waterloo. Laura/Ellie
will confirm next week. Then there is the performance at the Courtyard
Theatre which I will leave Becky to give you final details on next week.
I've added what I can to the sign up sheet for the time being.
*3. Things to fill out slightly less asap*
DERT - we need to buy our tickets in early December, if you are coming and
haven't yet filled yourself in and if you would like to bring someone
please add this to the sign-up sheet.
Otherwise I think other events need to know in January, so I won't chase
you as persistently for these, but if you can fill in when you know and I
promise not to nag until Jan.
The minutes from the AGM went out yesterday - any comments back to me by
10th December please when I will send out the final version.
*4. Other sign-ups*
We were invited to Teignmouth Folk Festival 21st-23rd June. Dancing by the
sea Saturday and Sunday. The vote on Monday was no
We were also invited to the Dead Horse Morris Ale (they asked us about it
at Faversham) on 20th July - dancing in Whitstable. I think the consensus
was no given proximity to Warwick (Sorry Sue!)
I am going to say no to both of these on Thursday unless there are mega
shouts before then saying we would really like to do these.
I'm sort of thinking that if I gauge interest at a practice for some of
these sorts of events before putting them on the sign-up sheet that might
keep the number of things to choose between at a manageable level - I know
some people have been finding this makes it harder to sign up to stuff.
Obviously things like Sidmouth/Whitby/Warwick will still go straight onto
the sign-up sheet. Though if anyone thinks otherwise / has other
suggestions let me know!☺
I won't be here to to bug you at the next couple of practices, lucky you!
(Though am sure Becky will be chasing for anything super urgent like the
Christmas crawl...) 🕶
Have a wonderful couple of weeks and see you all soon!
And just in case anyone can't find it - sign-up sheet here:

Thanks,

Hi all,
Absences tonight are: Ellie, Jo, Rachel and Hannorah. I'm hoping I've remembered everyone, do let me know if you can't make it.
Remember: No clog other than meeting ready to dance by 7.25 (bearing in mind room set up and shoes on to enable this to happen).
Remember we have the photographer guy coming, basically just to introduce himself and get an idea of what we're doing.
Tumble practice - people I have who are interested are: Fliss, Rachel-Anne, Katherine? and Miriam. Tori I know you did it ages ago and might be interested again?
Hannorah and Ellie I know you were both interested in giving tumbling a go, I am hoping to do this again, so don't worry!
I don't expect everyone to be able to do this magically, also don't worry if you give it a go and just decide it's not for you. Various of us have tried and then only just got round, or basically not got round, and just said it's not for them.
If possible we'll have a set dancing at the same time as tumble practice, but not sure this will work. I would encourage stepping practice if not tumbling.

Hi All,
Great to have so many people at the AGM on Monday and thanks for filling in
the sign-up sheet as it went round in the break. There will be a full set
of minutes coming soon for you all to review, but in the meantime, the
elected officers are as follows:
Foreperson - Becky
Secretary - Hannah N
Treasurer - Emma
Tour Organisers - Laura, Rachel-Anne, Ellie, Hannorah
Kit - Hannah N
Publicity - Katherine (RA happy to keep Instagram up to date)
Archivist - Rachel-Anne
Musician - Martin
So, upcoming events - November 30th at the Courtyard theatre - this has
been confirmed. We're finalising the exact details, but will let you know
those soon. There will also be the crawl the day before.
*13th December Christmas crawl* - at the minute this isn't looking viable,
If you haven't yet said yes or no specifically, could you please try to
find out one way or another so that we know whether we need to find an
alternative date or not...
Which brings me onto other sign-ups
Firstly *DERT* - we need to sort our tickets out in early December, so if
you could make sure you've filled yourself in and add (+1) or something
like that if you want to bring someone.
Other sign-ups for the rest of the year, we're making some good progress on
working out which of these we are likely to actually do. If you are still a
no-reply, on any of the events, could you take a look please - I'll accept
maybes for now, as that tends to lead to some no's appearing as well which
then reduces the number of events and sparks some yeses - though obviously
Yes/No are the preferable options!
Please note we have declined York Festival next September.
We need to get back to *Warwick Festival* very soon - it's looking like we
can almost say yes, so if a couple more people could do that, that would be
grand!
I've received some more info on *Goathland*:
Saturday - either go to Great North Folk Fest or meet and great around the
Hub
Sunday - North Yorks Moors Railway tour - stops along the route. Live music
in the evening/Jam session
Monday - procession through village taking in some dance location en-route
to the Birch Hall in (sweet shop - this sounds like my memory of Beck
Hole...)
Indoor and outdoor camping at the Hub (hot water and electricity
available). Also a bar. Caravan parking available. Note car parking space
at a premium. Potentially other accom available in the village.
In terms of getting there, sounds as though they are happy to help people
arriving by public transport (offers of lifts for the last bits if need be).
Other associated costs, There will be a charge of £5 per person on the
Friday Evening (this will include a camping pitch and breakfast the
following morning). There will be a charge of £10 per person on the
Saturday Night and £10 per person on the Sunday Night (this will include
breakfast, an evening meal, entrance to the Sunday Evening Live Music Event
and hopefully travel on the Railway your ticket will also be included for
the great north folk festival).
Have a lovely week!
Hannah :)
Hello all,
I have been in discussion with someone re. maybe doing a project around photographing/filming media (it's the person Sue mentioned at the AGM).
He's not really sure what he wants to do atm, it might be that it comes to nothing, or we might get some great photos, you never know. For a starting point he's going to come to practice on Monday so he can get a bit more of an idea of the movements and introduce himself and explain a bit more what he's planning.
Hopefully that's ok with everyone, if you'd rather not have your photo taken, for any reason, that's absolutely fine but if you could let me know! Also, for those who are going to be tumbling/trying to double, maybe bear in mind there is someone else about and wear shorts/trousers/safety pants.
Just to confirm, I'll assume we're meeting at 7 for clog (those who are interested in learning something new) anyone who just wants to continue with what we are doing please be ready to dance at 7.25.
Doodle polls to come!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi all,
Just to reiterate what was said at the AGM - some of us were thinking about getting a large shared house/houses for Whitby folk week. There are still a few places left on Airbnb but they are being booked up very quickly. It’s likely that we’d be able to find somewhere for around £140-180ish each for the week if booked very soon. I will probably be camping to save money (free with the festival ticket), but I’m still very happy to organise!
Please let me know if you would be interested in a place in a shared house and if you’d be bringing a partner by next practice (I won’t be there but can look up places next week).
It’d also be nice to know if anyone else will be camping!
Thanks,
Ellie
Hello all,
I've spoken to Ru about having her in for stepping practice. We're thinking about the 10th December as the most likely time that it'll work. Is there anyone this won't work for? (in particular if you're not confident with your stepping). As this affects Thrales as well it would be nice to get it set asap.
I was also thinking of making next weeks practice (19th) semi-focused on tumbling? I don't think there are enough people interested to do it for an entire 2 hours. I also think it would exhaust all of us! Again, is there anyone who is interested in tumbling who is unable to make it. Obviously this is easier to fit in as it's just us and there could easily be a set practicing as normal with a batch of us tumbling.
Later this week I'll be sending out a doodle poll re. crawls and day practices in the run-up to DERT, please keep an eye out and answer as promptly as possible so I can start making decisions and getting things confirmed.
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Please return this to me by next week!
If you can't attend tonight please still have a look at the AGM and make sure you've made any points by this evening. I think Hannah said 6, if you're sending to me I'd prefer 5 if they're lengthy. I can read off an email if not!
In prep for DERT and general organisation please get back to me with responses to the following. The point is you'd tick the appropriate statement for you, but you can just email me with what you'd want to partake as. The anything else is if you have anything additional to add. e.g. I'd really love to dance in the trad competition but won't be devastated if I just spectate.
Please also fill in what numbers you can do with the key provided. Again, if it's easier via email you can just put it in writing.
If I'm foreperson I'll collate this information when informing the teams, or I'll pass it all on to a new foreperson 😊
Name:
1. I want to go to DERT whether I am dancing or not.
2. I don’t want to/can’t go to DERT.
3. I will only come if I am dancing in the main set.
4. I will only come if I am dancing in the trad set.
5. I will only come if I can dance at some point and I would prefer M/T
6. I will only come if you don’t make me dance.
7. I am interested in playing for either the main set or trad M/T
8. I am interested in tommying for either the main set or trad M/T

Hi All,
Please find the agenda for the AGM next Monday attached - I'll bring a few
copies with me on Monday. I've also attached an outline description of each
of the current committee roles for those of you that are new. Also attached
are the minutes from last years AGM, along with the minutes from the EGM
earlier this year. If you could all read it in advance of the AGM to avoid
us having to read it out at the start to ratify it and I will sort a brief
summary of what has been done / not done from these, which should help on
the day.
If you currently hold a role on the committee, please prepare a brief
report/update for the day (thanks Sue for already doing yours!).
In terms of the evening itself, if you are able to, please come for 1915 -
we can get things set up for a prompt 1930 start. Feel free to bring snack
and drinks to help the evening go by. We'll do our best to go through
everything as efficiently as possible - in the hands of the chair! - but it
usually goes on a bit longer than our usual practice end time.
If you are not able to make it on Monday, but have things that you would
like raised, comments you would like to make etc. please email me or Becky
and we'll make sure they are covered in the meeting (Ideally before 1800 on
Monday).
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
Not too much to update you all on this week. We collected a whopping
£192.04 on the last crawl, so well done all. Next event will be Thrales Day
on 11th November, more info next week.
Don't forget our AGM will be the day after, if there is anything you would
like adding the agenda please let me know asap. I'll send round updated
role descriptions, the final agenda and last years minutes next week, so if
anyone is unable to make it you can make any points you would like raised
via email.
Sign-ups we need to let YORK know by 10th November (I know next September
is ages away) so could you all look at that one as a matter of urgency
please (no-replies and maybes). This is one of the ones where we will
mostly be able to dance in pubs.
Otherwise, please please sign up to things next May/June/July - would be
good to be able to work out which ones we are able/would like to do. If you
don't mind, then maybe sign up to the ones you are free for and say x out y
events. Thanks to those of you that filled some of it in on Monday, if
everyone else can please take a look and help reduce the no-replies that
would be great! Any questions on any of these please let me know - you
might not be the only one wondering. ☺
Sign up sheet here as always...
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
See you Monday!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All,
It's going to be a long-ish one as I've tried to briefly summarise some of
the events we've been invited to next year. Please pay special attention to
the super urgent sign-ups. I'll be bringing a couple of copies of the
sign-up sheet to the AGM and might even remember one on Sunday as well for
all the other slightly less urgent sign-ups...
1. Upcoming events
2. Super Urgent Sign-ups
3. Less urgent sign-ups
4. Declined invites
*1. Upcoming events*
Firstly, it is Thrales Day on Sunday! The Knights Templar near Chancery
Lane will open at 12, please be in kit and ready to dance at 1215 - there
should be lots of us, so lots of fun. Anyone who isn't dancing, but fancies
watching a load of rapper / clog / occasional broom dance, feel free to
come along! Thrales will also be out with Medlock on the Saturday starting
in de Hems, Soho - I think at 12..
Our AGM will then be on Monday - more on this coming in a separate email...
*2. Super Urgent Sign-ups!!*
*30th November spot at the Courtyard Theatre*, there are a couple of
no-replies and maybes that weren't at practice last night if you could take
a look at this urgently please as we need to get back to them asap. (I will
be chasing)
*York Festival of Dance *(7-8 September) They need to know by 10th Nov, so
if you are a maybe or a no reply, please move yourself to yes or no asap -
you are the deciding people. It should be fun as we'll be dancing in pubs
and there are a lot of good rapper pubs in York. (again I will be chasing)
*3. Less urgently:*
All the events in 2019 - we have quite a few of these at the mo, I
appreciate they are ages away, but a lot of them do need to know either
before Christmas/early 2019. So if you could at least move to a maybe (just
to make me feel like I'm not talking to myself) or even better a yes/no
that would be a great help as that tends to result in enough No's in some
cases to turn an event down and makes decisions on the remainder easier.
I'll put a brief summary of all the current invites below as a reminder of
what each of them is.
If you haven't yet danced out with us, you will have done by the time these
events happen, so please don't be afraid to sign-up to anything that you
would like (or even not like!) to go to. ☺
We've also just been invited to* Bridport Folk Festival* in Dorset 26-28th
July. I don't know much about the festival, so if anyone has been and has
any info, please let me know. All I have gleaned so far is that there is
ceilidh dancing and dance workshops and that we would get discounted
tickets, so possibly not the most amazing offer, but I may be wrong!
*Dance on the Moor, Goathland* (25-27th May)- invited us and other sword
teams specifically. Steam train (probably) pub crawl between Whitby and
Goathland. Indoor camping available / space for tents. Live music in the
evenings. It is possible to get there entirely by public transport -
apparently it involves Britain’s most scenic bus route (York-Whitby bus)…
max about 4 hours travel time to get there. We really ought to be making a
decision on this one asap so they have time to plan - so it is sort of
urgent...
*Ossett Beer Cart* (31st May-2nd June) - Dancing mostly outside, a spot in
the hall usually as well. Additional pub dancing entirely possible. Camping
on the cricket grounds, showers available. ~2.5 hrs away
*Wimborne Minster Festival *(7-9th June) - dancing sat and sun, all
outside. 3hrs away
*Kimpton Festival *(6th July) - Think this was a couple of dance spots at
the festival and maybe a workshop, they'd ensure we can get to nearest
public transport (it stops early and they are super keen for us to go)
*Hammersmith are 60* (13th July) - Dancing in various places in London
*Bridport Festival *(see above)
Any further Q's on any of these, please shout and I'll see if I have the
answers...
*4. We've declined the following invites:*
Evesham
Blackheath Morris 50th Ale (clashes with Kimpton)
Ilfracombe Morris Festival
Sign up sheet is here as usual:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Congrats on reaching the bottom of a super long email! Have a lovely week
and see you all soon!
Hannah ☺
Hey guys
Here is the Treasurer's report for the last financial year (Nov 17 to Oct 18). If anyone would like further details or has any queries, please get back to me this week, so that I can address them before next week's AGM.
I've also included a couple of documents that detail our tour collections - narrowly our best year ever,
even without our triumphant success at Sidmouth. Well done, everyone!
NB In order to reduce paper consumption, I don't intend to bring any hard copies to the AGM this year, so if you would like one, please print it off yourself or bring it along on a suitable device.
Cheers
S x
Hi all,
Sorry for late email!
Absences: Jo, Fliss, Rachel and Martin (but we have Nikki!)
Plan will be to continue on with Jubilee, Westerhope and Piccadilly. Today is probably a good day to have Piccadilly with just Hannah TD, and just with Ellie. This might partly depend on me being able to dance (which I'm hoping to do!)
Please come to clog. Clare is learning it so even if it just me, Clare and Ellie at 7 and others arrive for 7.15 for a quick run through?
This will be discussed at the AGM so should be settled soon :)
See you later,
Becky xx
Hi All,
Please find attached a draft of the Agenda for 12th November. Let me know
if there are any items that you would like adding by 5th November (if you
have anything further to add it can always be AOB). I will then circulate
the final draft along with the minutes from the previous meeting.
Any questions / items to add, please let me know!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hey all,
Looking forward to seeing you tonight: Crown and Cushion at 7.15, ready to dance at 7.30. Remember the plan is for some of us to eat upstairs (that apparently exists) so if can't find us that's where we'll be.
We don't have many people tonight (I suspect I am just too broken to dance, unless I get super excited)
Jubilee:
1.
Katherine
2.
Laura/Hannah
3.
Laura/Hannah
4.
Laura/ Hannah/ Ellie
5.
Rachel-Anne/ Ellie
Westerhope:
1.
Katherine
2.
Hannah
3.
Laura
4.
Ellie
5.
Rachel-Anne
I didn't properly plan otherwise I would have run through this with Sue on Monday! I think as it's been such a long time we'd be better to just do the 5 person ending. Exactly the same figures but with no 6th person.
Piccadilly:
Emma is around at the start so, if we can, we'll do Piccadilly:
1.
Emma
2.
Hannah/Laura
3.
Hannah/Laura (I'm assuming you'll want to be 3 Laura as that's what you've done recently, but decide together!)
4.
Katherine (sorry, I'm aware this hurts your hip!)
5.
Rachel-Anne
Rachel I know you might be around which will obviously alter the numbers a bit!
See you all later. Please bring tankards if you have them!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
I have just confirmed us for* Whitby* as we now have enough of us to
commit. We don't need exact numbers just yet, so anyone else that would
like to go, please do add yourselves and we'll worry about partner tickets
etc. at a later stage. Watch this space.. Woop woop, we're going to
Whitby! ☺
Don't forget we have the* crawl on Thursday* around Waterloo, most likely
starting in the Crown and Cushion (closest tube Lambeth North). First dance
is at 1930, so please be there and in kit by 1915 so we can have a prompt
start. As Becky mentioned there is only 1 cubicle in the pub, so if
changing there, maybe factor that into your arrival time.
*Other festivals/bookings...*
Please sign up to all the things we have been invited to in 2019 one way or
another. It might seem like a long time away, but for them to plan these
events they do need to know fairly soon. All of them want to know by
Christmas, others much sooner. I appreciate that there are several in a row
and that we are unlikely to do all of them, so if free for several, please
mark a preference when filling yourself in or some kind of comment of not
adjacent weekends or whatever if you don't mind. If you are unsure what any
of them involve, please shout as you may not be the only one, and I can
then provide some more info... Also *DERT *replies by end of November
please including whether you would like to bring anyone (doesn't matter
whether you are dancing/spectating/turning cartwheels just that you want to
be there)
*New invites:*
Hammersmith are 60 - 13th July 2019. Dancing around Putney, Wimbledon and
Hammersmith. Probably starting at 11 and finishing in Lyric Square in
Hammersmith at 6.
*Sign-up sheet here:*
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
*AOB - mostly financial stuff:*
Sue has reimbursed everyone some money for various festivals over the
summer - please check your accounts this week and if you have any queries
get in touch with her.
If you have spent any money on behalf of Ravens, please let Sue knwo this
week so this can also be sorted.
And, finally, if you need to pay subs (and aren't already), please do so
and set up your standing orders for 1st Nov - again any queries/concerns
please ask Sue.
If you could all do this as soon as possible if it applies to you that
would be great so Sue can sort out the end of year accounts and produce her
treasurers report...
In case anyone doesn't have Sue's email - connollysue(a)hotmail.com
Which brings me onto the *AGM* - I will be sending out an Agenda very soon,
so you can add any extra items you wish / start drafting responses if you
are unable to make it and want to have your say.
Have a lovely week!
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Rachel, Jo?? Clare? I think that's right, please let me know if there is anyone else.
We'll do clog at 7ish. Continuing to think about neatening. Fliss if you're around we could begin teaching you.
One of the things I want to discuss at the AGM is if people are interested in learning anything else, and if not what we want to do about practicing as every week seems a bit intense.
Normal practice will be recap of jubilee for new people and continue some work on Westerhope. Ellie and Hannah TD to be brought through Piccadilly again. Ideally if we have the people I will actually be teaching Piccadilly from the outside so we can try and look at some finer details (don't panic Ellie, I know you've only just got through the dance so I don't expect miracles).
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
Thanks to everyone for signing up one way or another for next weeks crawl
and Thrales Day. We've still got one or two people left to fill in for the
AGM on 12th November, but looks like we have enough of us - so it will
definitely be then! I shall try and get an agenda out soon as I can so you
all have plenty of time to add anything onto it etc.
We have a few sign-ups that we need to make decisions on pretty soon... So:
1. *Whitby (17th-23rd August 2019) *- we need to let them know by 30th
October and we could do with a few more people - as otherwise it will be
super-tiring for those that have currently said yes, so probably not
currently feasible.
2. Following on from that *York* Festival would like to know by 10th
November
3. *And most excitingly DERT! *we need final numbers submitted by 15th
December (this includes +1's etc.) so if you could fill that in by the end
of November at the latest please, that would be great and make it much
easier for me to sort our registration out. For this we don't need you to
have decided whether you are dancing and what you would like to dance, we
just need to know that you fancy going to Newcastle for the Rapper Event of
the Year and whether you'd like to bring anyone along...
Whilst you're staring at those, please could you take a look at the other
events on there for next year and start deciding which of them you would
like to do. I appreciate there are a number of consecutive weekends with
invites, we don't have to do them all, so if you have preferences please
state them and then we can work out which to accept and decline.
*Goathland*, for now I am considering our reply to be us expressing
interest, but it would be good to give them a bit more than a vague "that
sounds fun" as soon as possible so they can plan the weekend - so please
turn your attention to this one as the 4th key one to look at this week
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Have a fun week of decisions and diary checking! (And whatever other
excitement you have planned ☺ )
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Jo, Rachel and Fliss. Don't think there is anyone else??
Clog: Starting around 7, focus on the final step to make Ellie's style. Fliss isn't around to teach, but I know Clare was interested in learning, so maybe this process could start tonight if she is up for it? Ellie I'd suggest you teach her, with the stylistic tweaks we've made! And we'll practice the steps aside from you.
Actual practice - continuing on with learning and honing jubilee for new people. As well as Piccadilly for Hannah TD and Ellie. Depending on progress I might look at some people learning new positions in Westerhope.
I quite dramatically came off my bike last week and as such can't really lift up one arm without it hurting, so won't be doing any dancing. I hope it doesn't impede my teaching!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi all,
forgot to forward this on if anyone is interested in nominating anyone.
Please bear in mind if you nominate yourself you cannot dance as it is
slightly impossible to dance and judge yourself at the same time! (and not
entirely recommended even if you did have a tardis or similar...)
They also recommend 5 years of dance experience and having danced with more
than one team for experience of styles.
In terms of business, not much other than the usual please check the sign
up sheet and sign up to the AGM on 12th November if you haven't and Whitby
next year as well - I will start chasing that one very soon...
sorry for a lack of link to the sheet, am making do with my phone at the mo.
See you Monday!

Subject: [TR Committee] Sidmouth Folk Week 2018 - Dance Team Collections
Dear Dance Teams
Here are the final results of the collections by the dance teams at Sidmouth Folk Week 2018. As you can see, this year was the best result ever. The dance teams raised almost exactly half of the total amount collected at the festival.
WELL DONE TO YOU ALL! It's a stunning amount; you've set an amazing target for next year's teams.
Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked so hard to achieve this. The festival is very grateful to you for throwing yourselves into collecting and embracing the spirit of friendly competition for the Bill Rutter Prize.
Very best wishes
Sally
Sally Wearing
Hello everyone,
Thank you for a great practice on Monday! Lots of new people is great for the team but I appreciate requires hard work from various team members (and a certain amount of repetition of Jubilee). We're lucky in that various new people have danced before so are picking it up super quickly, and the non-experienced are picking it up really well at the same time, which is great.
Special thank you to Rachel who taught the entire time 😊
Obviously with lots of new people it means we don't have lots of time to focus on learning anything else. I'm putting a particular focus on getting Ellie through Piccadilly as she basically got held off because of festival prep. This also applies HTD who I know has done the majority of the dance but things get a bit vague right at the end. If attendance continues to be good I'm hoping we can push through with all this and have loads of people up and dancing as much as they can!
Should anyone have any bright ideas about how to move forward please let me know, as you may have seen I floundered slightly when faced with so many people and how best to utilise them.
Thanks again,
Becky
Hi All,
Amazing having so many new people last night!
If you are new and would like to sign up to any of the events on our
sign-up sheet, please feel free to add your name onto anything that you
would like to/can go to. We have a system of yes, no, maybe (and the no
reply) - maybe is a totally acceptable answer, though we will eventually be
asking maybes to make a decision one way or another...
So, it's a little while until our next dance out at the end of October, in
the mean time, we have loads of events coming up in 2019 to sign up to!
Latest addition to the sign up sheet - DERT!! woop woop, we are registered,
but we will need to let them know by 15th December exactly how many of us
and how many guests will be going. This time it will be the weekend of
5th-7th April up in Newcastle. For those that haven't been it is the annual
rapper competition and is a huge amount of fun, so basically you should go.
On a more serious note, if you have any questions/want to know more, feel
free to email or ask about it at practice.
I know we had this one last week, but we only have until the end of October
to let them know - Whitby Folk Week! 17th-23rd August 2019. It's a great
week, so you should definitely all go (and please sign up) ☺
Otherwise, there are plenty of events coming up in the new year, and a few
this side of Christmas (Thrales Day confirmed, thanks Patrick!). I
appreciate some of these are back to back weekends (May/June), so if you
have a preference please write it on there, so we can prioritise which we
go to if we don't want to do them all (which we totally don't have to).
The Winter Solstice event we will say no to, as there doesn't quite seem to
be enough certainty from anyone/super keenness to go seeing as it is the
Friday before Christmas. Very sorry if you were looking forward to it, but
am sure you'd be welcome to just turn up anyway.

Have a lovely week all and see you next Monday!
