Hello all,
Please note there is no practice tomorrow in order to give those who went to Sidmouth a rest (plus I know a host of people are away!)
The next practice will be Monday 20th, where the focus will be prepping for Bromyard. After a quick look we can do all 3 rappers, and clog but will want to practice numbers we're at. We will also need to think about Faversham for the 2nd September, for that we can do Jubilee and Picaddilly, but not as sure about Westerhope!
Practice after that, 27th, is off as it is a bank holiday, so we will have the final practice as the 3rd.
For all people who didn't make Sidmouth, you missed a lot of fun, but can relish the fact that we made a great impression and can only hope to have raised our profile and get more invites off the back of it!
For all of you who were there, thank you for all of your hard work and enthusiasm. I slept for 13 hours (plus some additional naps) and am still pretty sleepy!
Photos: I've uploaded decent ones that Ken took to facebook, please feel free to add if you are an admin, or add them to here and give us a nudge to add for you:
https://photos.google.com/u/1/share/AF1QipPmVy6nzW37ta9Tafr7DSEEqN45ZsRdVLO…
For anyone with broken shoes please look into fixing them before next practice, or at least before your next outing!
Have a great week 😊

Hi all
As promised, here's a map showing the bus stops closest to the campsite,
and the walk up Ice House Lane to get there.
If you're coming from Exeter, get off at the Ice House Lane stop.
*As you're approaching Sidmouth, the bus will turn right off the main road
near Waitrose and drop down into the bottom of the valley. It'll turn left
at the bottom of the hill, immediately pass a bus stop and then the next
stop is Ice House Lane.*
If you're coming from Honiton, you can choose to either get off at Long
Park as you come into Sidmouth or ride into the centre and back out again
towards Exeter, getting off at Ice House Lane. It'll be slightly quicker to
get off at Long Park, but a much shorter walk from Ice House Lane (10 mins
vs 20 mins).
*For the Long Park stop, the bus will approach Sidmouth from Sidford, past
a pub on the right hand side, near some traffic lights, called the Rising
Sun. The road runs down through housing estates into Sidmouth. The stop
before Long Park has a layby with an attractive wooden bus shelter. There's
a high, red brick, garden wall on the left shortly afterwards. Just before
the stop there's a road sign warning of elderly people on the left, and the
park opens up on the right.*
*For the Ice House Lane stop coming out of Sidmouth, it's the second stop
after the Balfour Arms pub on the right.*
*'Sidmouth bus' train ticket*
If you're coming from Honiton, it's possible to buy an add-on to your train
ticket for the bus to Sidmouth. I think it costs about £2.50 return - a
fair bit cheaper than the bus fare.
You need to go to a ticket office, present your tickets and ask to buy the
Sidmouth Bus add-on. Don't let them sell you "PlusBus", which is more
expensive and less useful. If they need it, the station code for Sidmouth
is SDT, and you can show them this page if you need to convince them that
the ticket exists:
https://www.southwesternrailway.com/travelling-with-us/at-the-station/bus-l…
See you on Sunday!
Martin
Hello all,
Hope everyone who is going is looking forward to Sidmouth. Remember if you have any final questions you need to have asked them asap!
Quick note re. valuables if you haven't thought: obviously our stuff is just in tents or at dance spots, you might not want to bring some things with you - especially jewelry.
For those who weren't at practice: please do tell me if you are feeling unwell, or in pain and I can try and ease up your dancing. (There are only 7 dancers at any time so we are a bit limited). Similarly if you have a grievance if someone (that isn't me) come and tell me and I can see if I can give you some time out, or try and talk to the person about it (hopefully this won't come up!). If it is me, go to Hannah or similar and they will do the same!
Drinking! There's almost certainly going to be too much drinking, I will be joining in! However, it's not my job to look after you, if you think you've had too much please try and think about having some water, if i think you've had too much to dance and we need to keep dancing I will be telling you to stop. Hangovers are yours to deal with, as mentioned there aren't many of us so you will have to dance, even if you feel like death.
AFTER SIdmouth: I would highly suggest not meeting on the 16th, I think we'll all be exhausted. But we do want to meet on the 23rd in order to prep for Bromyard. The weekend after is a bank holiday so we don't have much time. If you are coming to Bromyard and can't make the 23rd please let me know in advance.
See you in a field!! xx
Hi All,
It's only 3 days and counting until we go to Sidmouth!!! I'm so excited :)
So, some final details...
*Getting there:*
Martin has sent around the info for getting the Sidmouth Bus add-on which
will be cheaper than buying regular bus tickets and the map for where to
get off to make your walk as short as possible, so I won't repeat :)
There isn't a party on the Friday - that was Thrales getting confused with
their first spot... the party is on the Saturday and there will be bubbly :)
*When you arrive:*
Our tickets will be at the campsite (Bulverton Campsite) - in theory you
can only collect your own ticket and camping pass. You'll also be able to
buy a discounted festival bus pass - which I would probably suggest doing.
Becky I think is going to get there first, so hopefully she'll find
somewhere we can all camp with our beautiful Ravens banner/flag. I haven't
found what happens to the uncollected tickets, but I think in previous
years they end up down at the Artists Reception on Saturday- Sidmouth C of
E Primary School (where we go to fetch the collecting tins - see below.)
*Itinerary*
I've put the attached together which should let you know exactly where we
are each day and what time you need to be there. I have in mind pubs that
we are likely to do for each of the crawls, though this might change...
I have also noted pubs that we can fit in between spots, and I think on a
couple of the days where we finish early, I've identified some that we can
do post dancing, to help make sure that we definitely get every pub-type
place in (two of them are a bit more difficult than the rest to squeeze in).
*Food*
Please do eat, I've made a list of all the places at the end of this email
I could think of off the top of head where we can get lunches/dinners. Not
claiming that this is exhaustive mind. Breakfast-wise, there are usually a
couple of vans on the campsite, otherwise, cafes in town if you need a
fry-up or the usual suspect kind of places. There is a Lidl probably a
10-15 min walk away from the campsite, so that could always stock you up if
you want to have anything in the tent. Otherwise, buy in town and bring up
with you.
*What to bring*
Obviously your kit, including all the spare tights, socks and t-shirts that
you will need. If you have one of the lovely t-shirts that Laura sorted
bring that and I'd bring your hoody as well as it can feel chilly at night.
Probably a good idea to bring some sun cream and something for wet weather
(you never know!). Otherwise, just whatever you normally take for a week of
festival camping! Maybe some shoes that are more comfortable that rapper
shoes?
*Other stuff*
When not dancing in the set, if you can help with trying to collect money -
we'll have official folk week collecting tins and buckets (hopefully more
tins than buckets!), would be good to collect a respectable amount. There
is a prize for the team that collects the most... though whether we have
the energy for that I don't know, I'd rather we were enjoying ourselves
than slogging away at that. We'll be collecting these each day from the
Primary school.
Otherwise, not the things Becky mentioned about valuables, drinking and the
like.
If there is anything else that you would like to know, or that I've
forgotten to mention here, please shout!
Most importantly - let's have an awesome time, because we are awesome!!
(You really can't tell that I'm excited can you?!)
Hannah :)
Potential eating places
- Cricket Club – dinner, probably has food during lunch as well
- The Hub – food pretty much all day, usually a fair variety, including
pies and crepes
- White Horse – Fish and Chip Shop
- Black Horse – pub (good value dinner)
- Tasty baguette -unsurprisingly does sandwiches and things, but also
delicious salad boxes
- The filling station – lunch only, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes
etc.
- Various Bakeries (not open on Sundays).
- Martin has found some good pasties in the butcher shops, I can’t comment,
but he has seemed to enjoy them.
- Co-op / Tesco – also handy for booze… (there is a cider shop in town as
well…)
- Sailing Club – does inexpensive sandwiches
- I think the pubs will all also be likely to serve various things
Hi all,
Being privy to the Camden Clog skit for the morris party has made me realise we maybe need to up our game (we have the fish dance to live up to after all). Still to do Jubilee but with some commentary and some vague drama?? These are the ideas I have, please comment or boo as you think. This was all conjured up on a bus at 8 in the morning so might be utter tripe!
Start: Hands up in air as if holding onto handles/pole (can't quite envisage this with swords but bear with me) Music for 8 then everyone "brakes suddenly" (musically could be good) i.e leaning back/stagger a little look shocked as music starts back up again and start to walk around the 8.
Single Guard:
As normal but with comments along the lines of: 'we're used to the hustle and bustle of travelling on the London tubes. We practice near bank where you have to take this many turns just to find your way out of the station!'
Back 8:
As normal: 'Or course we're some very polite ravens and always form an orderly queue'
--> one or all start to barge through 'apart from when we don't/ apart from this one, she's a bit rogue' etc.
Haymarket:
As normal: 'Some regard this as the traditional sword dancing figure, Haymarket. We perceive it as an artistic impression of the overground sign! Behold it's mediocre glory!'
Pixies:
As normal: introduce the team with the birds names with some explanation about how our dances are named after tubelines anyway? or this could have happened earlier
Tumble:
As normal, in stepping before tumble 'please stand back from the the closing doors'
--> feathers thrown hopefully on people?? 'I did tell you stand back!'
Display the lock:
As normal: 'all the way from...wherever to Cockfosters?? Ravens come to dance for you, whether you want us to or not/ ravens dance to all of London, whether they want us to or not'
Spin:
Slow down and stop?? including music 'Ladies and gentlemen, someone has triggered the passenger alarm in the train ahead so all trains are to remain in their stations until further notice'.
All dancers groan and look bored, all pause.
'We've now got the go ahead and will be proceeding shortly' music starts, spin starts again and finishes.
Hoops:
I have no amusing ideas
4th corner:
As normal 'Mind the gap'
End: 'Ladies and gentlemen we have reached the final destination. All change!' all walk/flap off in different directions
Ok. so feel free to tear this to bits, in reality it mainly means remembering what tommy would say, and a bit of effort on the dancers and musicians parts. I don't want to spend too long on this, much like beadnell, but is worth looking at on Monday (or any suggestions anyone has!!)
I'm hoping there are no total disasters tonight, we know we can dance the positions we learnt, and can therefore focus on all this random crap!
Thanks :)
Becky
Hi All,
Sorry for being a bit slow with this...
In case there is any doubt, we will be crawling tomorrow, watch out for
details as they become available. It will be warm, so please remember to
stay hydrated (in addition to using the tonic in your gin...)
Thanks to those that returned neckers and ties - if you still have any,
please bring them in. I think we're now all sorted for petticoats, so
thanks all.
For Sidmouth, don't forget to make sure that you have enough tights and
t-shirts (and socks if you need those) for the week. And if anyone has any
inspiration on questions we might like to pose the audience at the meet the
team with Whip the Cat - let us know! We will have time at Sidmouth to come
up with these as well, seeing as they might be the kind of thing to come up
whilst drinking those G&T's... Any questions about Sidmouth, let me know,
or ask on Monday and I'll do my best to answer,
Rachel-Anne will bring the bird masks on Monday for us to try out (not very
subtle reminder :) )
Hannah
Hi all,
No unexpected absences as far as I know.
Please come early for clog, we've only got two practices out before we have to do it in public!
Tonight will be Sidmouth prep/crawl prep (amounts to the same thing).
Talking to Cats they've proposed us both including a novelty performance at the meet the team (apparently this is relatively common?) they have some faux ballet..thing, and they thought we could do our fisherwives beadnell. I will propose Katherine, Hannah and I fill our spots as before, in the hope we can vaguely remember it and then put people in where Ffion and Jo would be.

I don't want to spend long on it as, let's be honest, we have better things to do. I'd also be happy to do the minimal tommy routine if others were super keen to be involved.
See you later lovelies!
Becky
Hi All,
Don't forget to bring neckers and pins on Monday and petticoats if you have
a spare / will not be needing yours during Sidmouth due to not being there.
We need to make sure Ellie and Emma both have petticoats and that we get
Ffion's there as well.
See you tomorrow!
Hannah
Hi everyone,
I've been tasked with creating a scrapbook for Sidmouth. (Will it have a
quilted front cover, you ask? Probably!)
There are some photos in the google drive but not that many, and they only
go as far back as 2014. If anyone has any favourite photos (and
accompanying stories/anecdotes?!) that they want to be included please
email them to me (max 5 so as not to get out of hand).
And founding/early members - Jo, Rachel, Ffion, Sue I'm looking at you - Do
you have the very first photo? I think it would be lovely to include that
if we could. (Or one from the first dance out)
Thanks for your input!

Hi All,
Couple of important things for Bromyard - as we have to get back to them
this week.
1. Tickets
2. Travel
1. Tickets
I believe I have the following people coming. If you are not on this list
and should be, please let me know, likewise if you would like to bring
someone with you. (Hannah TD, does Ben want to bring anyone). Partner
tickets are £47.50 including camping. These need to be sorted out asap, so
please let me know by Wednesday 19th if anything is incorrect.
Becky (Ken), Ellie (Charlotte Dover), Emily, Emma (Tim), Hannah N, Hannah
TD, Katherine (+1, think we'll need a name...), Rachel (Dan & Arthur), Sue,
Ben
2. Travel...
I've just taken a look at the public transport options, and from the looks
of it, the options are either arrive at 1833 using a train/bus combo (which
would mean catching a train at either 1523 or 1445 depending on which route
you take) or arriving at 1225 with an hour and a half wait for a bus in
Ledbury (departing around 1922). The other option would be to look at
sharing taxis from the nearest train station or looking at lift sharing the
last bit somehow - though not sure how many will be driving... Please
could you start thinking about this, as if you are able to "work from home"
the earlier train will probably just be easier (1523 or 1445). This would
also mean that some of us would be in time for the procession.
If anyone else knows of another way to get there, please let me know. I
think perhaps they suffer the usual rural problems with evening bus
services...
If you are going to Bromyard could you please think about all of this asap,
as I need to let them know about both numbers for tickets and whether we
will be taking art in the procession at 2030 on the Friday. Please let me
know by 19th July.
Thanks,
Hannah
Apologies that this isn't kept up to date or if anything is wrong. This is the cool kind of thing I do when I'm bored! X

Hello all,
Absences: none??
Please turn up around 7ish for clog run through (or when you can)
Piccadilly: Depending on Laura's ankle I'd like to run through Rachel at 5, Hannah at 4 and Laura at 3. This could be worth walking through, especially for Laura, but would be good if we could dance it too.
Westerhope - I need to put Emma in at 2, as without her learning that we can only do Jubilee at one of the Sidmouth spots!
Jubilee - again, people in their new and exisitng positions to get it all sunk in!
Sidmouth:
I think everyone's requests so far should be fine to work around:
Ellie: Sunday we're not dancing so fine for you to be with Windsor
Ffion: If you weren't around for the Thursday that should work, obviously if you don't mind missing the morris party you could go on th Wednesday, but then you'd miss a pary!
Hannah and Martin: You both missing the Thursday spot is fine, although means we can't do Piccadilly, unless Rachel could cover? I don't know what the dance spectacular is, is it one dance each? In which case is us not doing Piccadilly sad??
Emma: Friday night is fine, although depending where you are leaving early might be good, they do want us assembled by 9.45. Saying that you don't have to be in the procession, just let me know. If you can just give me plenty of notice re. Contrasaurus ceilidh it should be ok, I saw they were on multiple times so if you were able to plan when you wanted to go ahead of time it would help me!
Workshops: I'm aware that there are morning workshops that people might want to attend, Ellie mentioned clog, but it does finish at 11 which on some days is when our first spot starts. Please make sure you can either leave early, or that you have an idea of travel time so I can have a plan of a starting point that doesn't include you. The reality is we can probably only lose 1 or 2 people at the start of a spot, and you need to be there for the majority so that others don't knacker themselves out!
Ceilidhs and Concerts: Again, if there is something in particular you want to attend that is fine but I need to know ahead of time, there aren't that many of us and it doesn't take many people for us to not have a functioning set! I want people to have the chance to do what they want, but we are there as a dance side, so don't hate me if I have to say no!
Apologies for the long email!
See you later, Becky x
Hi All,
A few things regarding kit, most of this is for Sidmouth, so feel free to
skip over irrelevant stuff if you aren't going. Bit boring, but necessary :)
Neckers and tie pins - I've been rather remiss and haven't collected these
back after DERT, if you have these could you please return them to me so we
know where they all are next time we need them. Likewise if you have any
random spare kit lying around.
Is anyone missing any bits of kit - i.e petticoats? If you are coming to
Sidmouth and don't have one, we should be able to sort something out with a
swap with someone not going.
For Sidmouth - we have a whole week of dancing, so now is the time to think
about whether you have enough T-Shirts and tights for the week. If this
weather continues it could well be reasonably warm (though it will be
cooler than London and we will be by the sea! I think we concluded
yesterday that 40 denier tights are likely to be the thinnest readily
available that will still look like black tights on our legs rather than
grubby legs.
Equally if you need to wear socks to keep your shoes on, don't forget to
make sure you have enough of these as well.
We obviously only have one skirt, petticoat and sash each, so please do
your best to take care of them during the week. If any of these need
repair, it may be worth looking at doing that before we go and give them
all a week of abuse - if you're not sure how to fix anything yourself,
please ask.
You may want to have some lightweight shoes of some sort for getting on and
off the campsite if it ends up being muddy, or just anyway if you get achy
feet walking around in rapper shoes all the time.
The other things you should bring are suncream and a waterproof or umbrella
- you never know what the weather is going to do!!
Finally stash - Laura has some spare hoodies and T-shirts if anyone would
like one / another one... send her a message if you do to see what there is!
Hannah
Hi all,
1.Saturday details
2.Sidmouth details
1.This Saturday please note the Central line trains are not stopping at Bank. I've warned you, so no excuses for lateness 😝
To confirm we're starting at 10 working on Piccadilly. We have my Bluetooth speaker so might not be able to dance slowly all the time (think Hannah was going to record Martin with something slower).
At 12ish we will break for lunch.
And then from 1ish we will resume for Westerhope and Jubilee practice, going over positions people are not confident with yet. If you are not in the set practicing it would be useful if you are practicing clog or watching and providing help!
We have the hall until 4 but imagine we might cave in the heat so in my head I have a stopping point of 3 if everyone is melting.
Please use this as an opportunity to ask any questions re. Sidmouth. I will be talking about kit and general ideas, but sure there will be stuff I've not thought of.
2.Sidmouth timetable, thanks to those who have emailed if there is anything they want to do. Tbh I have had no time to contemplate this and might not do until next week, but I will let everyone know as soon as possible if it possible to let them slope off or appear a little late to a spot. As well as when we will be doing crawls in the evenings. Please be assured when we are doing an evening crawl, I'll make sure we have a decent break for food.
Thanks!
Becky
Hi All,
We now have our timetable for Sidmouth - woop!
See attached if you are interested. (I'll resend nearer the time as well,
just in case)
The festival programme is also up, if anyone would like to see it, though
please bear in mind that we will be doing more dancing than we are
scheduled to (we need to make sure we dance in every pub at least once!).
Though if there is something that you would desperately like to see, please
let Becky (or myself) know so that she can work out whether that will work
with whatever our commitments might be.

Hey guys,
Absences: none???
If you do clog please arrive closer to 7 (as mentioned I'm aware some people are tight for time with getting here etc. but the more time we have on this the better we get).
This is Ffion's last practice before Sidmouth so I want to use her no.1 skills to help boost Emma's 1 Piccadilly confidence! We'll also look at alternate numbers in Westerhope and Jubilee.
Please remember we have a DAY practice on Saturday, I'll mention this at practice but so that it's here too:
10-4 (heat dependent) in the usual hall at St Michael's. My intention is to start the day with Piccadilly stuff and then look at westerhope and jubilee for everyone to feel more confident with as many numbers as possible.
I am aware that it is likely to be really hot so, if anything, we'll finish early. I don't want people dying before we get there!
Skit: We talked about the skit for the party at Sidmouth and I think basically settled on Jubilee (probably more doable with beaks) but dressed as birds/tube stations e.g. Ravenscourt park. Rachel-Anne did you get anywhere with beaks? I'm aware you're doing the scrap book so someone else could do this? Basically the idea is beak, facepaint/feathers etc. then kit with a suitable tube sign pinned on.
If anyone has any extra ideas with something to do with this that would be good, as it's not necessarily even meant to be a dance at all! or epic bad jokes for Sue 😊
See you all later.
Hi All,
Not too much business this week, just a general reminder to sort your
travel to Sidmouth and start thinking about travel to Bromyard so I know
when you are likely to arrive. (Please fill these in on the bottom of the
sign-up sheet when you know - along with any plus 1's and whether you can
do the 2030 procession at bromyard or not)
Otherwise, July and August crawls looking good, please do check the ones
for the rest of the year. I've also added Thrales Day to the menu - we
think this will be 11th November.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Enjoy the sunshine!
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Absences: Katherine
I will see the rest of you ready to do clog step. I'm going ot be around from about 7ish but know not everyone can be there then, and tbh sometimes the room is in use. But if people can aim for eariler that'd be great!
Hoping to have some focus on Piccadilly in glorious Sidmouth preperation 😊
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
Thanks for everyone who came along to a very hot crawl! I know we only did 5 pubs but in that heat and with only one set it seemed enough.
Thanks to limpy Laura for organising :-)
See you on Monday, head there early for clog, I'd like to introduce the turning on step 2, ooooh.
Becky xx
Hello everyone,
For the scrapbook I want a 'meet the team' page which will have a little
photo of everyone, their first name and their raven name. Below is a list
with the most commonly used raven names but I'm aware that the names are
somewhat interchangeable. Please let me know if you are not happy with your
raven name and which raven name you would prefer. (and if you'd like not to
be included of course)
Katherine - Rum & Raven
Becky - Shaven Raven / Brazen Raven (Becky, do you hate Shaven Raven? I've
reserved Brazen Raven for you in case you do.)
Hannah N - Ronald Raven
Laura - Raven Mad
Ffion - Towering Raven
Rachel - Mama Raven
Jo - Misbehaving Raven
Hannorah - Tiger Raven
Emma - Ravin' Raven (I heard you are good on the dance floor, Emma!)
R-a - Record Raven
Hannah TD - Tommish Raven (because you Tommy sometimes?)
Ellie - Clog Raven? (Morris Raven? Too lame? You could be Fledgling Raven
as our newest currently dancing member)
Sue - Wayward Beefeater (are you happy with this? It's doesn't say 'raven'
anywhere. What about Raven Master?)
Patrick, Martin and Nicky - Would you guys like a Raven name? Do you have
any on mind? Or are you happy with just first names and the instruments you
play?
Also I'll be sending another email about the wee photos, but people I don't
currently have a good enough photo for are - Becky, Katherine, Rachel,
Emma, Jo, Hannorah, Nicky, Patrick - So have a think!
Thanks everyone!
R-a x
Hey folks
So I'm afraid my summer riverside crawl didn't quite come off. A few nos,
and some odd floors, so I had to head inland instead.
Starting at http://thegregorian.co.uk/ right by Bermondsey station. It's
massive and they do food. Then I only have 4 confirmed I'm afraid before my
ankle got fat, but if we are willing to dance on a few weird floors
(concrete mainly) there are a bunch of cool breweries that could be cool to
dance/drink in under the arches including a cidery :) Otherwise we are
really near some pubs that like us so will be worth trying our luck.
See you tomorrow. Ready to dance first dance at 7.30 xx
Hi All,
Hope you're enjoying the sunshine (even if it was a warm practice
yesterday!)
Few bits of business:
1. Crawls
2. Sandwich
3. Festivals
1. Crawl on Friday (29th) will likely be along the river, probably
Rotherhithe to London Bridge. Look out for more info from Laura...
Crawls from August to the end of the year are on the sign up sheet, please
start filling these out, as August will creep up on us faster than we're
expecting!
2. Sandwich Folk and Ale. We will now not be going to this as we don't have
a team anymore.
3. Festivals. Sidmouth - if you haven't sorted travel out yet, please look
into this so I don't worry about whether you're going to make it or not. If
you're having any difficulties with how to get there, let me know, and if
the ticket price is an issue for you, please discuss this with Sue. Once
you're sorted please add that against your name on the bottom of the
sign-up sheet.
Bromyard - if you would like to bring a plus one, please let me know. It
would be good if some of us could join the torch lit procession in the
evening, so please take a look at how you would get to Bromyard and whether
you would make it in time for a 2030 procession (might be able to join part
way through so long as we have some there for the start). Again, please add
this against your name at the bottom of the sign-up sheet.

Have a lovely week! (and a great crawl if you're on it!)
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi All
Becky has covered everything regarding the crawl and the day practice on
Saturday, so I'm going to dedicate this to Bromyard!
The latest info I have is that there will be a procession on Friday at 2030
- it's a torch-lit procession, so we totally get to play with fire! Doesn't
matter if not all of us make it in time for it, but would be good to get a
few of us there in time for it. The actual dancing is then something like
11-4 on Saturday and 11-3 on Sunday - we'll know more nearer the time. If
anyone is likely to need to rush off early, please let me know sooner
rather than later as we aren't going to be a massive team.
We now need to let them know how many of us will be coming. We will all
have free tickets and camping for the weekend. Partner tickets are £47.50
for the full weekend with camping. The ticket is a bit less without camping
(£37.50) and under 11's are free (Arthur). Please aim to get back to me by
13th July if a) your name is not on the sign-up sheet and b) you would like
to bring someone (or multiple someone's!). Hannah - Ben can come as a
musician as we definitely don't have one on Saturday, assuming he's still
up for that?
Could you also let me know if you think that arriving in time for the
procession is likely to be an issue for you (I'd recommend being in time to
set a tent up before processing) - we need to let them know whether or not
we'll be participating. (I guess this is a hint to start thinking about
your travel... I'll provide more info on how to get there soon if you need
it.)
People I'm expecting are:
*Katherine, Sue, Hannah TD (Ben as +1), Emma, Hannah N, Rachel (Dan &
Arthur as +1s), Ellie, Emily, Becky*
Maybes were Martin, Patrick and Laura - let me know which way you're going
to go. (Martin and Patrick I appreciate you wouldn't be able to get there
until very late on Saturday evening anyway)
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi all those coming on Saturday,
Day practice for Sidmouth will be in the usual practice hall near Bank. Aim to be there 10-4 with a decent hour long lunch break maybe 12.30-1.30? If we're dead in the zone we could do clog at 4 (aware Rachel-Anne needs to leave) but assume we'll be quite tired.
Plan is to make sure people are confident in as many numbers as possible for Jubilee and Westerhope:
First names are people who are happy, brackets are what needs practicing
Jubilee
1.Emma and Katherine (Becky)
2.Katherine and Becky? (Rachel-Anne)
3.Becky (Katherine could you try and fill in so I can do one?)
4.Ellie, Katherine, Becky?
5.Rachel-Anne and Katherine (Emma)
Westerhope
1.Katherine and Becky
2.Rachel-Anne (Emma)
3.Becky
4.Emma (Ellie)
5.Rachel-Anne and Katherine
6.Ellie, Emma and Katherine (Sue)
We're a little stuck as I am the only 3 but if others might be happy filling in but not tumbling that would be very useful for me practicing other positions.
Sue I'm assuming you're still coming? Be very useful if you are as can go over westerhope 6 as well as having someone to see if what we're doing actually looks ok. We will also practice doing westerhope with just 5 of us rather than 6 person ending.
Confirming when Pat will get there, as most likely not right at the start. I'll try bringing my blue tooth speaker but we might just walk through stuff at the beginning (including clog).
See you Saturday :)
Becky
