Hello all,
1. Clog
2. Cake and gift next week
3. AGM
1. Big thank you to everyone who came for all their hard work last night. I don't know about you but my brain felt like mush after concentrating that hard! I hope everyone will be back next week - no point learning half of it - and can everyone make sure they practice in the mean time!? I know we're not going to appear being flawless next week but I expect everyone to know the first half of the dance so it isn't a case of not being sure what comes next.
Ffion if you could send the video round when you get a chance that'd be great - I'm still not sure I'm getting the timing right for the 5th step 😐
2. ALSO does anyone know a decent vegan cake shop/recipe and would like to provide next week?? I only have Sunday off this week so not sure I'll manage a go/it would be terrible, but it'd be nice to provide one for Kate as she's going out of her way to help us. ALSO, she hasn't made any mention of payment, but I think we should buy her a gift - I would suggest a half- decent red wine or some sort of gin (possibly too expensive). Anyone have any other ideas??
3. Finally can people consider when they want the next AGM? Traditionally we have it after Thrales day but 2016 was earlier as Katherine actively knew she wanted to step down and it made sense for DERT prep. Do people want it to be about a year? In which case I think we'd need to consider calling it? Or back to the November date? I'll bring this up at the next practice, if you won't be there but feel strongly please just get in touch.
Thanks all, happy practicing. Oh if you're not clogging STILL practice your stepping 😊
Becky
Hi All,
Some photos for Chippenham if anyone wants a look. I don't remember
speaking to Andrew there (looks to be one of the green man looking morris
dancers...), so I guess we'd need to ask permission if we want to use any
of them - unless anyone remembers otherwise...
An exceptionally funny one of Katherine mid-call about half way down. :)

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone who came out on the Crawl last Thursday - and well done
Jo on your first dance out with us!
Exciting News! We definitely do have an invite to Beverley Folk Festival
16th-18th June 2018!! So, please sign up when you know your diaries...
We also have an invite for the Wimborne Festival the weekend before - if
you feel that you don't want to do two in a row, but are available for
both, please prioritise Beverley seeing as we weren't able to make it last
year.
There are various events on the sign up sheet through to next year - please
take a look at these.

As you are probably aware - Monday will be a clog practice. I've collected
some clogs from C# - Clog sizes are one size smaller than your normal shoe
size and there aren't really halves as such. I would recommend bringing
some extra socks with you as that may help them fit! I find them pretty
loose as there isn't much thickness to my feet. If you have your own clogs,
please bring them as I can't guarantee perfect fits/enough if there are
loads and loads of us. (We have 2 size 3's (one looks a bit bigger than the
other...), 3 4's, 3 5's and 1 6 - fingers crossed this will be about
right... I have another 4 that I can wear as well.)
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
So I know some people are wondering what we're learning next week/about videos etc. I haven't found a video and Kate doesn't know of one because Camden don't normally perform it. Should anyone have some google success it is simply known as Pat Tracey's beginner waltz.
The attached picture is an explanation of the basic step 'step shuffle step step'. Which they do straight and crossed. The shuffles are rounded, which we do anyway, so should hopefully feel quite natural to us!
Have no fear, my plan is to film Kate doing it so if we don't all feel too confident by the end of the two weeks we can continue to work on it later (although I'd rather not dig into rapper time, perhaps we can organise something else).
See you on Monday, try and arrive as close to 7.30 as possible so we have the maximum time.
Have lovely weekends!
Becky
Hello all,
First off thank you for everyone's work on the crawl, I think we did some good dancing and it was great to be out and about together (summer holidays won't beat us!).
Tonight I don't have: Kate, Ffion, Rachel-Anne, Hannorah and Rachel. Jo S I know you said you will be late/possibly not around so just give me a text if you think you won't make it full stop. Is there anyone else I have missed?
I thought Jubilee was looking good on Thursday although I'd like to go through hoops and the spin as hoops went wrong a couple of times and the spin was sometimes a bit under-confident. I know we didn't do Westerhope, a lot of the spaces weren't amazing for it and I know we weren't over-confident with it so we'll give that another go. If possible I'd like to carry on with Piccadilly work although depends a little on who we end up with tonight.
Please consider: The next two weeks will be clog practice - if you don't want to do that it isn't a problem just don't turn up expecting rapper! The week after that is the 21st, a few of us will be in Whitby but there should be plenty of people around to maintain practice. The problem is that Ffion, Katherine, Rachel and I are all away and are the people in the team who have taught in the past. Is there anyone who would feel happy leading practice? It would be great if we could keep the practice going, even if you're just running through the dances and doing some stepping work. Have a think and we'll talk about it tonight, bearing in mind the weekend after is bank holiday it's a long time with no rapper!
See you later,
Becky
Hi everyone
Many thanks to Laura for organising another fab crawl last night and to Becky for her inimitable efficiency in enabling us to dance so successfully.
A big shout out to Martin for stepping in and playing so brilliantly - and while we're on the subject of big shout outs - Wow Paul! What stunning announcements!
Anyway, anyone like to hazard a guess at last night's takings before I reveal all?

Hello all,
First off I totally didn't register that Kate wasn't here next week, even though she told me ages ago. Hannah, could Martin possibly cover?
Second, we've had a few people drop out for tonight so just to confirm these numbers:
Jubilee:
Katherine: 1 and 5
Rachel-Anne: 5
Laura W: 3 and 4
Hannah: 2 and 3
Becky: 1,3 and 4
Jo S: 1 and 2
Jo T: 2
Tommy at end: Sue if you make it, Katherine and Becky
Westerhope:
Katherine: 1,5 and 6
Rachel-Anne: 2 and 6
Laura W: 3 (happy to do this out?)
Hannah: 3
Becky: 2,3,4, 6 (all probably not amazingly but can do ok!)
Jo S: 1
Jo T: 4
Sue: 6 - although I know you're not super confident so might have one of us do it if you're not quite feeling it!
Hope that all makes sense! See you all later 😊
Becky xx
Went for an old faithful crawl in the end! Meeting at the Old Eagle on
Thursday: http://oldeaglepub.co.uk/home-page ready to dance at 7.30pm.
Nearest station Camden Road or Camden Town. Then working our way up towards
Kentish Town station in time for hometime. Old Eagle do Thai food :)

Hi All,
1. Crawls
2. Two New invites!
(link to the sign-up sheet at the bottom...)
1. Crawl on Thursday 27th this week around Camden - details coming soon
from Laura...
August (24th Aug or 7th Sept) crawl looking a bit weak, but still one or
two people to sign-up for this one (Sept date especially). We may have to
cancel, but at least we'll still have a September crawl - 28th - please
sign up :)
2. We have been invited to *Northgate's 'Bath Time'* on 28th October, I
think most people weren't too keen given that we'll be at Dance around the
World Festival on 29th (London) - it's on the sign-up sheet though in case
anyone feels up to a double dance weekend.
*Wimborne Minster Folk Festival 2018!* Wow, that's some forward planning!
(it's in Dorset in case you were wondering...). 8-10 June 2018 - we can
just be there for Sat and Sun (or just one if we prefer) and would get free
entry to ceilidhs/concerts etc. Apparently the person who invited us was
"an instant convert" after seeing a video of us - to what exactly she
doesn't say... Northgate are invited too, but don't let that put you off!
Have a good week, and see most of you on Thursday!
Thanks,
Hannah

Hello all,
Just to check people I definitely don't have tonight are Laura W, Ffion and Rachel. Hannorah i know you can't make the crawl but you were coming tonight - just let me know if that isn't the case. Reesha I got the impression you weren't in a great way after accupuncture - do you think you'll make it? Laura S I've lost track of what week we're on, I think it's Camden tomorrow so will assume you're not coming, let me know if I've got that all wrong!
Plan:
Make sure we're ready for the crawl, going over Jubilee and Westerhope so everyone is happy for those 2 to go out. Also do some work on Piccadilly, if we have the right people I'd like them in those new numbers to try and get to the triangle lock point again. Rachel-Anne that would be with you being 5 so we'll do some nice slow going over first!
Thanks,
Becky
Hi All,
It's been a little quiet on the business front lately, but finally there
are things!
So..
*Crawls*
We have a crawl nest Thursday (27th July) around Camden - more details next
week.
The August crawl is looking like a no-go, so I have put the Thursday either
side of it up on the sign-up sheet. I suspect the September date will be
more likely given several people will be at Whitby for the other one...
Please can you fill in you availability.
September Crawl date now up as well...
*New Sign-ups*
We have been invited to C# festive gathering on Sunday 17th December
between 7 and 9.30pm. It's usually a really busy event and includes choir,
dance, song and storytelling! They would love to have us dance there
(impressed by our May in a Day performance). I know it's a while away, but
could you check your diaries anyway please.
Whilst looking at the sign-up sheet if you could double check any of the
other events on there as well - still a couple of no-replies and maybes
lurking here and there... I'm thinking Dance around the World Festival in
particular...
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
*Clog:*
The 7th and 14th August will both be clog practices (as decided on Monday),
the lovely Kate (from Camden) is going to teach us a waltz. I will sort
clogs out, but if you have your own you may prefer to use those. The hope
is we can get the dance fairly good in a couple of sessions and then we can
practice on our own.
That's all folks!
Have a good week.
Hannah
Hello all,
Absentees: Kate, Rachel, Laura S and Hannorah. Potentially Reesha all depending. Anyone else?
Numbers allowing I would like to blast through Piccadilly and Westerhope as a general reminder to everyone what they're like. After that I would like to focus on Jubilee, in particular Rachel-Anne at 1 with an idea to try calling? (if not in a dance then try calling from outside of the set? Not a problem if you're not there yet though)
If possible I'd like to have a go from way back when at different numbers in Piccadilly but all depends a bit on who turns up :)
Ta,
Becky
Hello,
I wanted to say a big thank you to you all (but especially to Rachel-anne!)
for Arthur's beautiful quilt! Ken and Becky gave it to us last week when
they visited. Rachel-anne: it's absolutely beautiful and you are super
talented! I wanted to get a picture of him lying on it, but it hasn't
happened yet.
Hope everyone is well and tomorrow's crawl is successful. Hope to see you
all eventually!
Rachel xx
Hello all,
I will see you tonight - fair warning I am so tired I might request you to do all of the wrong numbers! Please be patient :(
People I have as not coming: Sinead, Laura S, ...Rachel and Hannorah (I presume).
Is there anyone else not coming?
ALSO Kate can't make the 17th July- so can someone else play? Hannah is Martin free? Or could you/Ffion play just to tide us over?
Thanks,
Becky
Hi all,
On Thursday we're crawling round Kennington area. If you're coming please meet by 7.30pm at a place called Oaka at The Mansion House. It's near the underground statoon. It felt like a pan-Asian food wetherspoons when I visited so I think the food is fairly cheap but check the menu beforehand if you think you might want to find something cheaper or non-Asian before you arrive.
We've got 5 yes pubs and 2 maybes so we should have a decent night. We'll make sure to finish by 10.30pm as it's a little further out of central London than we usually go.
See you then,
Ffion x
Hi all,
Becky might not make it tonight so she's asked me to cover practice. She's given me a list of things to work on and told me the following people can't make it tonight: Jo S, Laura S, Hannorah, Reesha, (probably) Sinead.
If anyone else knows they can't make it please let me know.
Thanks,
Ffion x

Hello all,
First off a huge thanks to everyone who turned up yesterday, despite the intense heat! I know progress was pretty slow but I actually think it was a good job done, especially for Westerhope, I hope to go over that next week with people in their various new numbers.
Second there is no crawl this week, we actually had a variety of people who in the end couldn't make it, or could only just if they ran off from something else! We will be crawling on the 6th July, pretty sure Ffion was organising this next one. Sue can you make this date?
See you next week!
Becky
Hi All,
Not much for this week - just a reminder that there will be a* crawl next
Thursday (6th July)*. It will probably be in Kennington (northern line).
It would be good to finalise a date for doing a clog practice - numbers
don't matter (though would be good to have a few of us available) and we
can pass on the dance to anyone who misses it and would like to learn. The
following people have not replied yet - please could you either fill it in
or email me to say that you aren't interested in having a go (if this is
the case).
https://beta.doodle.com/poll/bvcbik9quak9ik7r#table
Hannorah
Joanna
Laura S
Rachel (though assuming you are a bit preoccupied with baby - so don't
worry about it!)
Rachel-Anne
Reesha
(Jo, Ruth, Sinead and Eleanor feel free to fill in as well if you wish -
though appreciate this may be after leaving/a bit too much on top of
rapper).
Thanks,
Hannah
Hello all,
Just to check - tonight I don't have: Joanna, Sinead, Rachel-Anne, Eleanor and Jo T will most likely be a bit late.
Is there anyone else who won't make it tonight?
Thanks,
Becky
P.s. Ffion can I please leave you with the keys for next week, and if possible the swords?
Responses tonight preferable!

Hi all,
Will Pound is looking for some rapper dancers to be available on either the 10th or 12th July in Sheffield for a music video, something to do with a new album he has coming out next year.
He's tried to find a team up north but most can't make it as its during working days. He has said about putting together a scratch team for the day.
Is anyone available? I've said its very unlikely Thrales will be able to help
Need answers quickly!
Ken
Hello all,
Hope everyone is surviving the heat! Practice will be on tonight but we'll be taking things steady and I would suggest everyone has some water with them!
People I have as not coming:
Hannah, Laura S., Sue, Ruth and Hannorah.
If there is anyone else please let me know.
Looking at crawls we have the most people this Thursday coming but we can only Jubilee and it relies on me mastering 1 today which...is going to be interesting. It's also meant to be very hot still so I don't know if it's worth it? Ffion and Katherine your both maybes? We'll discuss it tonight, if we are dancing on Thursday we would need someone to organise it.
If not the next possible date is 6th July - Hannorah, Laura S and Sue can you make this?
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all!
First off thanks to all of the people who have given me their attendance for the summer, that's really appreciated :) Atm we actually look ok as people don't seem to be away at the same time (yay).
The one practice we might miss is the 21st August as it's Whitby which I know a variety of us are at, in particular people who are used to teaching. However, we'll look at it closer to the time as we have so many lovely members you might be able to crack on!
As far as I'm concerned other than Whitby I will be around. Apart from the 3rd July because I'll have been getting back from Sark that day, we're currently not really sure when we'll be in and I might be collapsed in a post-festival stupor. The week prior to that I'll give someone else the swords and keys, as long as Ffion/Katherine are around that week as teachers for the night I think that will still be fine. And i might turn up!
If anyone else knows they will be away but hasn't told me if you could let me know that'd be great. Obviously Rachel I have you as a no until you say you're a yes, and Jo is a bit of a count-down until she returns to America.
Tonight for absences I have: Hannah, Ffion, Hannorah, Rachel. Is there anyone I have missed? Sue I hope your foot is better, but let me know if not.
Becky xx
Hi all,
Arthur William Sheridan arrived at 14:59 on Wednesday. 8lb 3oz, bang on his
due date! All doing really well, now trying to work what on earth we're
doing.
Rachel and Dan x
Hi All,
Happy Wednesday!
I've just had a bit of a tidy-up of the sign-up sheet to remove the things
we definitely can't do, but there are still a few things that need one or
two more replies....
The 29th *June Crawl* is looking a bit on the ropey side (the July one is
looking good though - so thanks for that!). So, I've added the Thursdays
either side of it as a starting point for alternative dates. if you could
please fill these in ASAP, then we'll know whether or not we're going to
have to resort to doodle...
There are still a couple of festivals left on the list that look like they
have some potential for us being able to do them - if you could have a look
at these that would be much appreciated as we should probably get back to
them fairly soon.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-
XmFb8jmCeRa48IRI/edit
Speaking of doodles - here's the clog doodle again. If you aren't
interested please just add a comment or email to say you aren't interested
and then we won't be pestering you...
https://beta.doodle.com/poll/bvcbik9quak9ik7r#table
Also - if you know you will be unable to make a Monday practice between now
and the end of August, please let Becky know. Summer always ends up being a
little more difficult with all of us having exciting things to do.
See you all soon!
Hannah
