Hi Katherine
Hope you enjoyed the rest of the weekend and had a good return journey. Just confirming that I won't be there tonight but I will be there next week.

Hi All
Hope those of you who went to Ossett had a fab time!
I did a very silly thing yesterday. I ate some mushrooms that were on the turn. Mac warned me, but I ploughed in regardless. Yep, you guessed it - I spent half the night throwing up. Lovely!
So the combo of sickness, lack of sleep & all over body-aches (cos I also did a 10k yesterday) mean I'm gonna take rain-check on tonight.
If you need the swords I have, let me know & I'll drop them round to the pub beforehand.

Hi all. Unless my plans change yet again I'm hoping to meet you at the market place by 11 am. Trains from Guiseley don't start early enough for me to get to the camp site or Wakefield in time for the procession. Is the market place near the town hall? I'm assuming it is. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. S x

Hey
I've not stayed on this campsite before however it is most likely to be
first person find a space for us.
We will be dancing with some really good teams so, as Becky says, it is
important we look presentable. I'm sure we will make a good impression :)
If people could let me know roughly when they're arriving it would be very
useful as I think it would be good to run through both dances either Friday
evening on Saturday morning. Also depending what time people are arriving
we may be able to pick you up from Wakefield station and save you the bus
journey.
Also just received our dance info for Saturday (attached). Looking forward
to it!

Hi all
Here is the doodle poll for this years summer practices:
http://doodle.com/poll/8swz74nzpvrzw3z8
Please fill it in over the next week so I can see if we will have to cancel
any practices and can plan them efficiently. This year I'm trialing a yes
and a maybe option for each date, so if you've not decided what you're
doing that week or know you get home on a Sunday and are not sure you'll be
up for practice tick M. This means even if you're not sure what you are
doing over the whole of summer you can still fill it in (you can always
update it later).
Many thanks

Hi all
Here are the details for anyone coming to Ossett.
CAMPERS:
Campsite opens at 3pm Friday and there is no set departure time on Sunday.
It is at a Cricket club so there are toilets, showers, parking ect. The
Cricket club itself will also be open Friday and Saturday night.
They are offering a reasonably priced breakfast Saturday 7:00-9:30 and
Sunday 8:00-10:30.
FRIDAY
Beerhall in Ossett Town Hall is open 7-11pm. Beer is £2:50 a pint, cider £3
plus they will be serving soft drinks and food (there are several food
alternatives near by).
At 8:15pm there is a beer tasting competition which we are invited to join
with if any representatives of the team are there.
SATURDAY
Procession leaves from the campsite at 9:45, some of us will help to pull
the beercart and the rest will process behind. There will be a van to take
bags to the market place.
There will be a ceremonial moving of beer at 11am and then we go off to
dance spots/pubs around the town- I don't have our schedule yet.
The Beerhall is open 11am-11pm.
SUNDAY
Teams will dance from around 11am-1pm in the market place - this spot is
optional but I think if we still have a team we should at least do a couple
of dances.
If you don't have it already my number is
*07403608579 *

Hello all,
Sorry I couldn't make practice. It sounds like we had trouble with numbers so hope you guys managed something! Was there a decision on the crawl in the end?
B xx
Hi All
Two quick points:
1. I can't make practice on Monday, but have a set of swords.
Is there anyone who is going, that works/lives round Euston/Kings Cross/Holborn/anywhere central who I can give the swords to?
2. It doesn't look like enough people are around for a crawl on Thursday. So unless I hear differently I won't organise one.
I'm a 'yes', but on the 'maybe' list as I can't edit docs from my phone at the mo', Becky - would you mind changing? Also if more of the 'maybes' are a yes then just me me know & I'll do us a Holborn crawl.
Thanks

Hi all
I'm still not fixed yet (although on the mend!) so won't be at practice
this week, my apologies. Here is the plan for the next practices:
16th May- Practice Jubilee with Jo at 1 (for Ossett Beer cart) and begin
teaching Piccadilly with Reesha at 2 and others learning second positions.
23rd May- Run through Jubilee and Piccadilly sets for Ossett beer cart
followed by teaching/practicing Westerhope.
30th May- Bank holiday: no practice
Have a productive practice and see y'all soon

Hello all,
Sorry for the continuing changing plans. As I expect most people noticed Katherine wasn't well on Monday, she's been to the doctors and has to go to the hospital on Saturday for a scan. She's also been recommended just to rest in the meantime.
Apologies for so many changes of plan- obviously if anyone wants to go to Brighton anyway you can do, I'm sure they'd be happy to see some Raven's faces to know we didn't just skive off!
Have a lovely week and see you on Monday, if Katherine isn't up to teaching one of the rest of us will, in case please just email the team address rather than Katherine.
See you next week,
Becky xx
Hi guys, just realised I'm still getting copied into all your messages - it's lovely to see what you're up to but unfortunately I didn't make it past the initial taster sessions as I moved away. I now live in Scotland so am unlikely to ever be able to join your team - if you could please remove me from the mailing list it would be much appreciated. Great to see that the team is going strong though! All the best,Hannah
Hello all!
We are confirmed for Brighton thanks to Hannorah :-) so unless you hear otherwise please be at the Pavilion Garden Cafe at 10.30. We don't have to dance until 11 but that may include getting to spots and assembling.
If you're having transport problems please get in touch with Katherine or myself.
Thanks,
Becky

Hi folks,
Sorry to hijack Ravens chat with a favour, but was hoping you might be able
to help me with something. Some of you may know I'm trying to set up a
social enterprise (which is why I miss a practice a month at the mo). I am
currently doing some user research relating to it and I really need as many
people as possible to fill in a survey I've made. The venture is kind of
related to the work I do with older people at the moment, as well as good
design, so I especially need to hear the views of anyone over 50
(especially men), people with disabilities and anyone who has caring
responsibilities for another. I would be so grateful if after you've filled
it in you could forward it onto a few friends, parents, grandparents,
colleagues, folky older men and veteran rapper teams(!) whoever! It only
takes about 10-15 minutes to do and you can enter draw to win £100 too so
there's a bit of an incentive :)
I can't really tell you much more than that at the mo in case I skew the
results. I'll tell you more when you've filled it in! (I know some of you
know already - but that's fine you can still fill it in - just be honest!).
It's here: http://goo.gl/forms/frvruK28fM and is a very socially beneficial
and interesting way to spend a rainy Tuesday evening ;)
Thanks a million times
Laura xx
Hell all,
Please be aware we do STILL NOT HAVE A CONFIRMED TEAM for Brighton. Hannorah is extremely generously looking into re-organising her weekend in order to fill the gap but it depends on other people so keep posted for confirmation of what is happening here.
Please find attached the schedule for the day, remember we need to be there from around 10.30-5ish!
In other news please see the signup sheet:In particular consider crawl on 26th and London folk Festival (3rd September) I am aware the latter is ages away but we're advertised as running a workshop (even though we've not been asked!?) if I knew if we had a team or not we can chase Graham with more or less urgency. Obviously if we could do it, it'd be ace. Please also consider Carshalton DoD on the 8th October.

Thanks all, I'll keep you posted re. Brighton.

I'm hoping there is an obvious place to congregate. Keep an eye out for other ravens and I'll try and send a message out if anyone is missing!

Sorry for never ending emails on this. For those unsure there should be food and drink stalls as well as crafts :-)

Hello all,
Higham organisers seem to have realised they can't provide parking as it's all on the streets nearby (none actually quite at the park!) They've said that it should be fine, especially turning up on the earlier side - live acts don't start until 11.30 so can't imagine it being heaving first thing.
Sorry that's not as good as reserved spots! Hope everyone is ok with that..

Hello all!
Hope you are looking forward to dancing on Sunday.
Please find attached the schedule for the day- we are on 12-12.15 and then again 1.45-2. They are aware it won't take us 15 minutes but I'm hoping we can do the two dances in each slot.
Please be there by 11.30 at the latest to ensure we're all ready to go.
There are changing facilities in a nearby Mallinson scout hut but obviously if we come in kit/partial kit that's a little easier. Please consider thinner tights as it's meant to be about 25 degrees! Also remember to consider a bottle of water and sun cream, I only say that because without reminders I forget stuff like that.
The park is near Higham Park station (about 10 minutes walk East): if you google IG8 9RB it brings up the park but the actual festival is near the lake which is closer than the postcode suggests.
A basic route is to get the overground from Liverpool Street to Higham Park which takes about 20 minutes. Obviously you may have easier routes. If anyone is planning to drive please let me know asap so I can try and reserve some parking.
Any questions let me know!
Becky xx
Hello all,
Thank you to everyone involved in the Open Practice last night, I think everyone who came had a good time and hopefully will be back again for more!
For anyone who wasn't there can I confirm:
1. There is no crawl this Thursday- don't try and turn up to one!2. There is also no practice on Monday as it is a bank holiday.
That means the next time we see each other will be at Higham Spring Festival 11-4 Sunday 8th. I'll email round a little more info next week.
3. A nudge for anyone who hasn't yet paid Sue for a. Pizza Express on the DoD and b. a Westerhope shirt if you had one. Please do this sooner rather than later!
Sue no-one has any concerns re. the constitution so please do go ahead and amend to your suggestions.
Laura S. can you please add the two girls from last night onto the mailing list? helenbrough(a)yahoo.co.uk and inthebrambles(a)gmail.com
>From what i can tell we will be getting the train to Ossett, I recommend people looking into this sooner rather than later. Do we have enough who wouldn't get some sort of discount to do a group booking? And therefore get you discount- we need a minimum of 3!--> to confirm you need to get the train to Wakefield and the bus to Ossett. There actually seem to be a decent number of buses but obviously if you arrive at 1 in the morning to wakefield you might struggle.
Katherine do we need to book camping spots?
Thanks all!
Becky
Hello all,
I'm not sure if people are staying into the evening for this or not? They'd like a rough idea of numbers as to anyone staying for drinks etc. in the evening after the dancing (I think so they have somewhere with enough space).
I'm assuming most people will want to head back but if anyone wants to stay please let me know so I can tell them. If people would prefer to stay let me know too! They only need a rough idea, so it's not a major commitment to drinking lolz

Hi All
Sorry to have missed practice last night. I'd been working all weekend so wasn't any use to anyone last night - I was asleep my 9.30! #gettingold
On a separate note, does anyone fancy going to see Kathryn Tickell on Friday at Kings Place: http://www.kingsplace.co.uk/whats-on/music/kathryn-tickell-superfolkus-coll…
Mac's working the next day so doesn't fancy going but I'm about to book tickets and wondered if anyone would like to join me?
If not a work friend is going so I'll tag along with her.
