Hi everyone
Firstly my apologies for not coming tonight. I'm not sure whether I'll be there next week either.
Could you please consider the following treasury items:
Pizza Express
Thank you to those who have paid for their share of the bill:
Kate, Laura S, Laura W, Hannah, Martin, Sue.
NB We agreed that the dough balls and service would be covered by the Ravens, but you need to pay for food and drink. Could everyone else pay asap, please, before we all forget what we had. Bill attached for reference.
Westerhope Shirts
I'm also looking for £10 from everyone who had a Westerhope shirt. Thanks to the following who have paid:
Joanna, Kate, Hannah
Constitution
Is everyone happy with the proposed amendments? No one has commented yet. Can I take it that silence means agreement? See attachments.
If you have paid for something that I haven't mentioned, I apologise. It hasn't reached our account. Please drop me a note to let me know. Equally, if you are owed money, please shout.
Cheers everyone

Attached is the Pizza Express bill so those who came last weekend can
workout dinner costs.
Please pay into the Ravens account

Many thanks

Also...
Steamchicken (containing Becky from Sheffield Steel) retweeted my retweet of the Open Day next week (how many layers!?!?) they also then mentioned that some parts of the band have a gig on in Soho this Sunday, if anyone was interested. I'll be away but the link is http://www.spiceoflifesoho.com/events/events/view/1045#.VxYdPfkrLmg if anyone fancies it.
Have a lovely week,
Becky xx
Hello all,
1. Thanks for a good character practice last night. Hannorah did an ace job of creating a character and how it would interact with Sue. Although it obviously needs working on I'd say we've tackled all the main ways that two characters would interact with the dance, so if anyone else was doing it instead of Hannorah we've figured out a lot of moves.
Obviously if anyone has any further ideas, or if anyone else wants to have a go just let us know and we'll see about spreading the information. I think ideally we'd have the two dancing out as soon as possible so maybe think about Highams Spring Festival? (8th May) although we see how everyone feels :)
2. Can I get people to confirm numbers for Ossett? I think there are some people I should have changed last night (Ffion??) but didn't write it down, unhelpfully. If you could fill that in it would be great. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Further to this we need to think about transport, At the moment return trains look to be about £80 (no discount) to Wakefield, leaving Fri night and coming back Sunday early afternoon. The team should be able to subsidise this no problem (shout up Sue if so!) There was some talk of driving instead, can those with cars available seriously consider this and figure out how many spaces we have and when you'd travel etc. If we could have the options sorted as soon as possible we can keep an eye on trains, we are around the 6 week point before travel which is meant to be cheaper so the sooner the better I think.
3. Next week is Open Practice, please share this to your hearts content on social media and please bring cake if you would like! Obviously if no-one new turns up we'll just have a normal practice :)
Ta,
Becky
P.s. I totally crashed on Sunday and couldn't face going through the photos, I will do this as soon as I get a chance though!
P.p.s. I've emailed St Albans, watch this space for news.
Hello all,
1. Firstly yay what an ace day! I had so much fun and it did actually feel like we got to know Silver Flame which is nice. It's also nice to see that teams aren't solid all the time, we're all just people trying to have a good time :) Again a massive thank you to organisers, Hannorah you're pub schedule was ace.
Ken took some photos which I'll go through today when I get back and put on facebook, if anyone wants to put anything on Twitter please do, saw some great stuff from yesterday (admittedly as I lay inbed this morning..)
2. Tomorrow we have a character practice so anyone who is interested please step forward! I had a chat with Simon Vaughan about it and got him to look at our dance and give suggestions of how a character (working with a tommy) could interact with the dance. He also made various points about a betty/character which were quite interesting, please see below:
Firstly he was totally on board with the idea that it doesn't need to be cross dressing, the important thing is that the betty is there for humour, they're basically just a slapstick character so after that it doesn't matter.
He also thought once we've figured out if someone's going to be able to do the interacting aspect with the dance there's potential for so many characters in connection with the tower that we've really got our pick- we had quite a long chat about inanimate objects, like a skeleton on a stick/wheels, or a raven hand puppet or someone dressed up as the tower (think braces to hold up I dunno, crenelations, and then wearing a crown and sceptre). I think this came from me emphasising we don't really have anyone to do the job, if you make it a physical thing, rather than an actual character it's easier for multiple people to take on the role.
In the dance:
Traditionally bettys come on later so he thought leave start totally blank and have the betty announce themselves during the square display (the first break in action really) although betty could also go through fountains but it's a short move now.
Running the opposite way round the spin- makes it look faster
Needles- you could have each character go through on opposite sides- i.e. betty mirror tommy.or you could have some sort of chase scene- betty runs through and tommy shouts you can't go through there! OR visa versa with betty saying but you said we weren't allowed to dance.
6 sword lock could be done by betty or tommy- if betty had run through needles and tommy shouted at her then if tommy was 6th person betty could get angry.
Now, depending on if we had a character or an inanimate object would change the dynamic. He did think if it was an inanimate object Sue could hear them talk but no-one else can- 'what was that skeleton? Don't be so rude!!' or whatever..
Simon has also discussed it with Clive who are fully on board with helping characters and have offered to do some sort of character workshop to help with the 'clown' and dance interaction elements. I think we'd be best to have a go ourselves and come up with lots of ideas and then, if we're struggling, take them up on the offer.
Hope that all sounds ok, we by no means have to try all or any of the ideas and if you have any ideas please come along with them tomorrow! You don't have to be the character to have the idea :)
See you tomorrow!

Hey folks, just to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone involved in organising and helping with the DoD yesterday. It ran with military precision and was so much fun, well done! Was great to get to know Silver Flame better, who are lovely. Sorry I couldn't stick around for debrief and had to shoot off, but hopefully DoD turned into Night of Shots :) Can't wait to see how much we made xx
Timings are incredibly optimistic. I'll try & keep us on track throughout the day (ironic as I'm the worst time keeper!), but if we need to miss a couple of pubs out then so be it.
12.10: KR & HL meet Silver Flame at Marylebone & get bus to Euston.
12.30 onwards: Everyone meet at The Rocket, Euston Road. (Area is reserved under Hannorah/Tower Ravens)
Dance pubs:
1.15: Somers Town Coffee House, Charlton St. (both teams)
1.50 Euston Flyer, Euston Rd.(Possibly just team. Not staying long)
2.10 O'Neills, Euston Rd. (Possibly just 1 team. Not staying long)
2.30 The Dolphin, Tonbridge St. (both teams)
3.00 The Boot, Cromer St. (Both teams & a bit of a breather)
3.45 Walk or bus to Tottenham Court Rd
4.15 The Court, Tottenham Court Rd (both teams if possible, but not staying long)
4.45 The Fitzrovia Belle, Tottenham Court Rd (both teams if possible. Pause if people want to get a snack from nearby Tesco Express or various eateries)
5.30 The Carpenters Arms, Howland St (possibly one team depending on time)
6.09 10-15 min walk
6.20 The Albany, Gt Portland St. (both teams)
7.00 The Mason's Arms, Devonshire St. (both teams and breather)
7.45: 15 min walk
Food:
8.00 Pizza Express on Baker St for dinner.
Silver Flame to leave no later than 9.40 to get their 10.10 train.

In order to get a debit card for the team, we need to adapt our current constitution. I've attached the current one and some proposals for amendment with possible changes in red. Could you please read them both carefully and consider any possible ramifications?
NB I need a debit card, ironically, to enable me to pay cash in at a Post Office, since all 3 of my local branches of HSBC have recently closed. It would also be beneficial for occasional use, such as buying an occasional round of drinks or putting money on Oyster cards. At present this has to be done through someone's personal account and then claimed back from the Ravens. I don't mind that in the slightest, but it seems rather more transparent and ethical to do it directly from the Ravens' account.
Cheers

Hello all/Hannorah,
Not sure who, other than Hannorah is going to meet SIlver Flame - if anyone?
The contact numbers are: 07931680796 for Ioan, and 07816977502 for Maddy. Ioan is the main point of contact that I've had.
I've given them mine and Hannorah's numbers but made it clear I won't be there.
See you all on Saturday!

Hi everyone,
Just to say me and Paul have booked a room at the Ramada in Wakefield for
Osset (though we can come over to the campsite to help set up tents :-D)
Also, in case any musicians find it helpful and want to join in playing for
dance outs I've attached the pdfs I saved with the sets for Jubilee,
Piccadilly and a couple of others. Sorry for any mistakes in them, they've
just been copied from thesession.org. Am open to any new tune suggestions
as well!

After far too much time spent dithering in souvenir shops I have bought a box of London branded cakes & a very tacky little statue of the Tower of London. I hope Silver Flame realise we love them really. :D
See you Saturday,

Hello all!
So, firstly we have confirmed the Spring Festival at Highams Park on Sunday 8th May.
Secondly I have filled the signup sheet with crawls as I've totally ignored them for a while. We've got rather a lot on over the summer but, if we can dance it'd be good to, especially if there are people who can't do the weekend events etc.
Please fill in your availability if you can!

This weekend:
Starting at The Rocket near Euston at 12.30, we have a back room reserved. First dance at 1.15.
The plan is to then wend our way along dancing as much as possible, avoiding football fans, until we collapse around 8 at Pizza Express near Bakerloo.
Any questions give us a buzz!
Ossett Beer Cart- Jo and Laura S. you seemed most keen on a hotel, I'd recommend looking into it sooner rather than later (see previous email for your choices and prices). If anyone else is interested get in touch with them!
NEXT WEEK- next Monday is a character practice where we think about how a second character could interact with the dance. Please have a think as to any points in Picadilly where it would look good/ anything you have seen other characters do.
Ffion Happy Birthday! Yay :)But on a totally different note, is Patrick available to play in Brighton? (Be good to know) AND St Albans are being increasingly difficult, they've gone from saying yes we can dance as a rapper side doing a pub crawl to, no we can't dance in the pubs where music is happening because it's constant and, no we can't dance in other pubs. He's organised one dance spot at pub at 12.30 and then wants us to dance outside with the other teams on flagstones. I know we can do this, but we didn't really want to, and tbh it's not what we agreed to do. Shall we grin and bear it (we don't want to make it difficult for you who are performing!) or do we say no. I'm inclined to say no but don't want it to have any knock on effect on your band so just let us know what you think.
See you on Saturday

Hi all
The plan for tonight is to practice Jubilee and Piccadilly ready for the
weekend and teach Hannorah the new section of Piccadilly.
*18th April- Character workshop*: to discuss ideas for a second character
and an opportunity for anyone to give being a character a go. Also, Kate
can't make this practice so could musicians please bring their instruments?
*25th April- Open Practice!* Please invite anyone you can think of to come
and try rapper, this is the perfect time of year to start. Also if you
haven't been to practice for a while this is a great opportunity to get
back into it :)
>From now on I am planning to send an email at the start of the month with
the plan for what we will be working on each week. Please don't forget to
let me know if you can't come.
See y'all later

Hello all,
We have now had confirmation from Brighton Morris (yay) I'm not sure if anyone was thinking of staying, but there isn't any indoor camping, so it would be a case of organising ourselves. I think I'll be whizzing home but don't know how anyone else feels!
New invitation:
The 8th May we have been invited to Highams Park Spring Festival- It is a free event open to all and will be centred around the Ulflag Viking Re-enactment team (ww.ulflag.com), with folk singing, story telling, falconry, craft stalls, beer and cider tents,a hog roast and other food stalls. So rather random, but Highams park is only North of Walthamstow and is accessible on the overground and it's 11-4...and we thought it sounded a cool day, so it's on the signup sheet. Please put availability! I have emailed asking about if there will be suitable floors etc.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Ossett Beer Cart:
Accommodation:£12 for a weekend pitch of camping, I know we don't all have tents but we might have a few between us?£170 Twin room in the Mews WF5 9HN (3rd-5th) walking distance from centre of Ossett£81 Twin room in Days Inn WF5 9TJ(3rd-5th) 1.5 miles from Ossett centre£60.50 Double bed and 1x sofa bed in Holiday Inn WF5 9BE (3rd-5th) 1-2 miles from Ossett centre ONE ROOM LEFT
Hope that all gets everyone in the right direction!

Hello all,
Please fine attached minutes for the EGM.
Action points/points of change that I've picked out:
1. Crawl organisers to continue to develop map as do more crawls2. Kate to become lead musician and get us organised for different people playing- can consider different tunes etc.3. Focus on getting everyone up to speed on details of Piccadilly and getting us all dancing confidently and the same. Keep trying to dance out in the summer and in front of lots of people4. Everyone to learn Westerhope so can keep dancing out5. Open workshop on 25th April - Laura S. to publicise on social media (in conjunction with this Hannah elected as newbie liaison master...or something! Point of contact and encouragement for new members so Katherine can continue to teach without worrying about them too much6. Others happy to teach- Laura S. (Westerhope), Sinead, Becky. Have some practices where people teach while Katherine observes so she can help the teachers7. 18th April have a practice which focuses on interaction with the team/dance (for development of characters) from this try and expand on who would be good to learn character positions and how can make part of overall performance8. Constitution being changed to allow one signature rather than two for payments (this allows treasurer to pay in at the post office and for charges to be paid easier) Sue to send draft of this to be confirmed at next practice.9. Before each crawl to decide on someone/some people to focus on taking pics/films and then making effort to put on social media- create our own buzz!10. Laura S. to look into prices of badges and stickers and bring in designs11. Anyone with outstanding payments to organise with Sue/anyone who owes them money within the team.
Obviously if I've missed anything let me know!
Please remember to think about Open Morris article- even if you just have a witty sentence for them!
Have a lovely Easter!
Becky x
I'm so sorry I didn't send these earlier- I think I imagined I had! Some interesting reading. Obviously if you have any thoughts please email Katherine/raise at next practice :)

1. Please note all the changes i have made on the sign up sheet as of the EGM (thanks for all the responses to dates!). If you weren't around yesterday please look at the sheet and share availability :)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
2. I am hoping to send the minutes tomorrow, I have no internet at home yet and have meetings at work today and tomorrow and am unpacking all my belongings in the new house in evenings...argh. I will get them to you as soon as possible anyway!
3. Please note: THERE IS NO PRACTICE ON MONDAY. It being easter monday we all have it off :)
4. Reminder to fill in the DERT survey!https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/DERT2016
I will send the comments on next.
If you want to write something for the Open Morris magasine please email the team so we aren't working at cross purposes and ensure it is sent by the 1st of April, it would be great to have something even if it's really short!
Ta, Becky
If anyone would like to respond to the request below, that would be fantastic. The deadline is 1st April.
Jen was at DERT with Mabel Gubbins. It isn't clear if she was actually dancing or just supporting. Whatever, it would be lovely if we could support her in her new role, as well as getting us more recognition in Open Morris via Dancing On!
Cheers

Hello all!
Sorry for slow actioning of this, there's been an awful lot going on at home (most of my life in boxes).
Please have a look at the EGM agenda for Monday, if there is anything you want to add please email me and I will add it on, if there is anything that doesn't make sense please let me know!
Meeting will be 7.30 onwards. It is also a celebration of how far we've progressed in the last year and how well we did at DERtTso also bring drinks and snacks! I'll be bringing the gin from DERT (I got a couple of quid from Hannah- if anyone had more than a couple of glasses a few pounds my way would be much appreciated but 1 or 2 consider it my gift!)
Please bring your diaries, I'm taking this opportunity to attack your summer availability! I'm hoping to have definites sorted.
Aaaand, if you paid for taxis or anything over the weekend and haven't had money back please bring this up at the EGM so we can make sure no-one is down financially.
To anyone who hasn't been in a while please feel free to come to the EGM! Even if you don't fancy saying much it's good to have as many people involved in the process as possible.
Ta all,
Becky
Hi Kids
This little card turned up for me yesterday! Thank you for being so lovely!!
I'm so bloody excited to see you all next week & hear more about DERT.
Mac is making an awesome recovery so I'll be back with a vengeance. :-)
What's the plan? Is it practice as usual or party, or practice & party?
Hope you're all getting a chance to rest & recover from DERT this week.
Hxxx
Hey, I believe anyone that was at DERT can fill in this survey about what we thought. this is potentially a chance to say anything that bothered you. I think it should be emphasised that a great job of making the day run smoothly was done!

This appeared on the Star and Shadow inner members page that I am privy to, I don't know where it came from or if it's available anywhere else so apologies if it's a dull repeat!
What I don't think we've seen is the trad individual marks. Looking at these I think we all need to give Laura a huge well done, we got extra points for the effort she put into the written element and ensuring we then performed it as closely to that notation as possible.
WELL DONE :)
