Hello,
As promised at the AGM I've set up a doodle poll for getting together to learn how to be additional musicians for Tower Ravens. Here's the link http://doodle.com/poll/5tzeehtpbecc8y37
Nikki will be at practice next week but is then away on holiday so please fill this in this week if possible. According to the AGM minutes the people who are interested are Hannah, Kate, Becky, Sue, Hannorah and Laura S (who is already a pro). I'll let Nikki know the best date once those people have responded so if you're not on that list but are interested please fill it in asap!
Hannorah offered her boat as a potential location but feel free to suggest alternatives.
Nikki, do you think you'll be able to send your selected tunes before you go away to give us all a chance to practice?
Thanks,
Ffion

Hello all,
Just a warning that I may have miss tonight's practice again I'm afraid. I've got some works training this afternoon, but it's in Cambridge, so not sure if I'll be back in time or have the energy. Sorry about this. I realise I've been away the last few weeks...

Hello all,
Just a quick reminder that this coming Monday is our stepping practice with Ru. Please try and arrive as promptly as possible so we can make the most of our time with her!
I don't really know what she has planned but please take as much from the evening as you can, our stepping really is our weak point now and I think we can really learn a lot from her. Please remember if she criticises it is nothing personal :)
Minutes from AGM probably heading out on Sunday when I actually have some time. Just for everyone who wasn't there, no dramatic changes made.
Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.
Becky xx
Hello all!
Just to confirm there is no crawl tomorrow.
Agm went well, no major changes. Minutes to be sent asap (probably sunday).
See you monday!

Hello everyone. Sorry I've been absent for the past few weeks. There's been
some problems with our house move. And we're currently living on my sisters
floor (sans rapper shoes...) Everythings been horribly hectic. Also Mikes
grandmother passed away this weekend so I won't be at the agm tonight :( I
hope it goes well.

Hi
Quick reminder AGM starts at 7:30 this evening in the church. I have plastic cups and napkins left over from the EGM but don’t forget food/drink 😊
See you this evening
Katherine
Hello all,This is rather like previous email but with some extras from yesterday
1. AGM2. Crawl on 24th and DoD on 4th Oct3. Sheffield4. DERT
1. To confirm the AGM will be held next Monday (21st) 7.30 until we finish in our usual practice venue. Please bring any food or possibly more importantly drink that you want with you.
If you cannot make it but have anything in the agenda that you would like to comment/vote on, or to add you need to let me know ASAP.
2. The crawl on the 24th currently can't happen due to the combination of numbers we have! If you haven't filled in the signup sheet please do, even if it's to say no, because then we can say for definite if we can or cannot do it.
(Jo and Laura S. in particular- sorry to name and shame I do appreciate you're both very busy!)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
Please everyone consider Black Swan Morris DoD on the 4th October- at the moment it very much looks like a no, if we haven't got a team by Monday I'm saying we can't do it.
3. Hannorah, Jo and Reesha please consider what accommodation you need in Sheffield and let me know by/on Monday. Reesha I hear you're having a nightmare of a time with a house so if you can't make it that's absolutely fine- if you could just let us know that would be great.
4. EVERYONE RE. DERTBy the end of the AGM I want to know everyone who wants to come to DERT and whether they want to compete/ be a spectator. You don't need to know in which way you will be competing I just want to enter us next week so that we definitely get a place! If you are not at the AGM please look at the bottom of the AGM agenda (last email) and email me with which category you fall into.
Thanks everyone,
Becky x
Hello all,
1. AGM (agenda, officers, location)2. Crawl signup and potential need for date change3. Sheffield Steel weekend accommodation and travel
1. AGMI finally have the AGM agenda written, please take a look at it and if there is anything you would like to be discussed please let me know so that I can edit it accordingly.
Officers please be aware that you need to present some sort of report to the team re the last year.
Should any one like to run for an officer position please be considering this up to the day- if you have any questions as to what is involved please do ask :) Also as Sinead will sadly be unable to lead any Trad progress as she is (very happily!) heading to university every Monday night, please consider if you would like to do this job! If we don't have any one to lead it we can't really compete with it at DERT, which seems a shame as the general impression I have got is we would like to compete again.
Please note the AGM will NOT be in Wetherspoons as it has every other time because they won't let us. I'm trying to investigate other rooms nearby so that we can start at 7 and be somewhere with drink and food available. If not it will be 7.30 start at normal practice venue, bring whatever liquid refreshment you feel you'll need!Signups-
2. CrawlPlease look at the next crawl as we've all been rather slack about signing up for it. I am aware that the rugby world cup is imminent which might make it hard to get into pubs. If we struggle with the 24th September the next good Tuesday would be 8th October as there isn't a game on, but for now I will leave it as the 24th.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
3. SheffieldIf you are coming to Sheffield I am hoping you have all started to arrange transport! Steel are assembling in a pub on the Friday night waiting for us and then there is potential for a joint breakfast somewhere (probably another pub lol) and then crawling.
Currently the people I have who need accommodation on Friday and Saturday are:Me (and Ken), Katherine (and Simon??)
For just Saturday are:Janet, Ffion, possibly Lizzie and possibly Sue, Kate?
Hannorah, Hannah, Jo, Reesha and any of the above maybes I could really do with firm answers ASAP so please do let me know. It's only fair on Steel who are very kindly putting us up.
See you tomorrow!

Hello all, but in particular Laura S and Hannorah.
I've created a new album for the Blackheath day of dance. Please feel free to edit it if there are any you don't like or to do anything with them on twitter etc. I've done it rather quickly so might be worth scanning through them!
See you tomorrow night, promise I am working on AGM stuff as we speak!
Becky x
So finally we have the plans for Saturday,
This is where we will be:11:00 Tower Hill, Pub: Liberty Bounds, 15 Trinity Square, London, EC3N 4AA13:30 St. Paul’s Cathedral: Dancing at the cathedral (2 stands) and at the Centre Page, 29-33, Knightrider St, Blackfriars, London, EC4V 5BH overlooking the cathedral – stands will interchange16:00 Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (plus Centre Page/Founder’s Arms for those who do not want a dry spot)I will endeavor to figure out how best to get to each of these places as we're making our own way around.
Please aim to be at the the first spot for around 10.45, this allows some organisation time and wiggle room for us!
This should also leave plenty of time to get to C# house where we have now been told we're welcome to get in early and stay later :)
Thanks guys,
please get in touch if you have any questions.
Becky x
Hello all,
Please be aware we will definitely be dancing through the day in central London on Saturday, as well as c# at 6. Times and locations to follow asap!

Subject: [Tower Ravens] Trains for Sheffield
Hello all, thinking about Sheffield in October I perused the trains again which seem to be rocketing up in price. I highly suggest people look into buying them as soon as possible and using thetrainline.com as this seems to be a little cheaper. We should be getting some money towards subsidising the tickets anyway and I think the funds we have are hearty enough to help people who need it.
If you would need the subs for it very quickly please contact Sue directly.
Times wise I haven't got anything clear but basically we're arriving the evening of Fri 16th October and leaving the Sunday 18th. I don't think there are any plans in particular for the Sunday so you can probably leave as early or as late as you fancy. I don't think there are many plans on the Saturday until mid-day so if you would prefer to travel early that morning this should be ok too :)
Obviously if anyone is driving please get in touch ASAP if you are happy to give people lifts!

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry it's been a while, I hope you've all had a great summer. Mr. Bennet, IVFDF's development officer, has asked me if I know anyone who'd be willing to help run dance or music workshops with King's College Folk Society. If you're interested, or know anyone who might be I can put you in touch with their committee.
See you soon,Sinéad
Also, my phone number if you need to get in touch.

Subject: [Tower Ravens] Whitby dance out
Hello all,
Those that are going to Whitby, please see attached for my schedule for Monday.
As you can see, I'm down at Robin Hood's bay during the day. We might be able to squeeze in an hour of dancing after that and before my evening gig.
I'm not sure if the listing here shows the correct order for performances. If it does, it means that I'm on first in the evening. Therefore it may even be better for us to dance out after I've done my evening gig (if I'm allowed to get away). I expect I'd be finished by 9 if I was on first. I'll double check the order for the performances and confirm when I'm on and what time would be best.
Sorry for the vagueness. See you there!

Hi everybody,
I was really hoping to be able to come tonight, but I don't think it's
going to be possible after all (I've been dancing all weekend and am
absolutely shattered).
Very sorry, looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Hello all,
1. AGM dates changed2. London Folk Fayre/ Blackheath 12th Sept3. Sheffield Accomodation and getting there
1. Due to the DERT application period being far shorter than normal we are going to move our AGM from the usual date in November to the 21st September. According to the doodle poll pretty much everyone can make it (apologies Hannah!) so should be a good chance for everyone. If your plans have changed please let me know ASAP in case we have to change the date. If you can't make it but there are points you want to make that is no problem, just let me know your views in advance and we'll make sure they are discussed.
BEFORE the AGM if you could please let me know which category you fall in to out of the below it'd be much appreciated (either by email or in person at practice):
a. definitely want to compete in one of the categories but don't mind which one (please say if you're only attending if you can compete)b. only want to dance in DERT competitionc. only want to dance in the Tradd. only want to dance if in bothe. only want to spectatef. want to bring a spectator with youg. do not want to/will be unable to attend
Similarly if you have any concerns regarding DERT at all please let me know and I will ensure they are included in the AGM discussion.
I will be coming up with a plan for the AGM in the next few weeks, at least a week in advance of the actually meeting anyway. If when you read it you think there is anything else you would like discussing please let me know.
2. The dance spot at the London Folk Fayre is at 6pm 12th September after the day with Blackheath. I'm assuming most people can do both, if you can't please let me know ASAP.
3. I have confirmed the weekend of the 16th-18th October with Sheffield Steel. They seem happy to put us up. At the moment I have the final numbers as 10 (Laura S. we probably need to give them a definite on that if you have moved from a maybe?). I'm double checking that the number is ok. Ffion I know you'd be coming up on the Saturday, is there anyone else unable to travel up on the Friday?Trains look to range from about £30-40 fora return (not inc. railcard) so not too bad. Sue can we consider if this can be subbed at all by the treasury? SS have offered us all the crawl money towards travel but I've said we'd probably only want to take half as they are putting us all up and are the ones inviting us there!Would anyone be driving? and if so can they take anyone else?
Thanks all, see some of you later!
Becky
P.s. Please remember that this is the last practice until 7th September and that there is NO crawl next week.
Hello all,
Quite a bit of business so do give this a read through please!
1. Ceilidh Spot had changed date2. Sheffield Steel weekend3. No crawl this month4. Cancelled practices5. Black Swan Morris day of dance6. Dert
1. The Ceilidh Spot in West Norwood has been cancelled in September and will now be happening October 16th (please fill in the signup sheet if you can make it). I suspect we won't get a team as that now clashes with travel time for people heading to Sheffield to dance with them. Either way please fill in so I know that you've seen and thought about it!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
2. Sheffield Steel weekend has had a much better response for the weekend of 17th-18th October so I've emailed SS to say we're free then if it's still ok with them- watch this space for more details.Sadly Nikki isn't available that weekend, we are in the process of trying to figure out something with musicians, if you feel like you want to play that weekend please let me know ASAP. Alternatively Martin (Sallyport/Hannah) thinks he should be able to make it. Or alternatively again SS offered there musicians so we are covered either way.
3. and 4. Due to the high numbers of people away there will be no crawl this month (was scheduled for 27th). Similarly there will be no practice on the 24th, due to tiny numbers, or the 31st as it is a bank holiday.
5. Black Swan Morris (not rapper!) Have invited us to their day of dance on the 3rd October in Carshalton. This is 45 mins from Kings Cross. Northern Line to Balham and then a 15 min train ride. Currently we have very few details as to what the day will involve although I have asked for more info.
6. DERT registrations are now open! Not only is this early for them to open but they close on the 31st of October, this is much earlier than normal and means we won't have the opportunity to discuss anything that much beforehand as normally that all happens at the AGM. I am going to write up a few questions/problems we might have with competing/prepping for DERT in the next few days so that anyone who has a point to raise has an opportunity to do it. If everyone seems reasonably happy we can get on with applying but if it seems we need a more formal discussion we'll schedule that in.DERT is now on the signup sheet so feel free to say a definite yes or no if you've already decided :)--> Interestingly the Trad competition has changed a little and now has a written element where you explain how you're performing and you are judged on the accuracy to your own notation. Currently I'm not sure when this is due but it seems quite an exciting change and should stop problems such as we had re. being docked points for not doing a figure even though we did! Bah.
Sorry that's rather long but should get us through the next few weeks! I'll hopefully have some more information re. Sheffield and Carshalton soon and I'll get the DERT email out as soon as possible.
Thanks!
Becky
Hello all,
Thank you to those who have updated the signup sheet, can I just get everyone to double check the next crawl, the Ceilidh Spot on the 18th and the Sheffield Steel dates as we need to know ASAP and not everyone has replied.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
We were chatting about music yesterday- if you are interested in being able to play for us- either in practice or out and about could you please email me. Depending on how many people are interested will depend on how we organise a get together of everyone.
Big smiles as we managed to push all the way through the new dance yesterday! Well done to everyone :)
See you Monday,
Becky xx
Hi guys
As several people are unable to make next weeks practice we are going to
postpone the stepping practice till September/October. I have created a
doodle poll with three dates that provisionally suit Ru, please let me know
which dates you can attend.

Many thanks
