Hello all,
Apologies but I won't be at tomorrow's practice because I need to prepare for a gig I have later in the week. Sorry all. Hope it's a good un.

Hi All
I won't be at practice on Monday, as I'm 'on tour'.
Forgot any images of musical or sporting performance, I'm on tour of UK Mail sites across the Midlands. They've just picked my charity as their chosen charity for the next couple of years so I'm presenting to staff across a few of their sites on Monday & Tuesday so won't be in London.
OK, there won't be dressing rooms, booked out venues, autograph signings or band t-shirts but I am hoping for a few encores & possibly recruiting a few more super-fans for Age UK. :-)
My right ankle is still a bit of a mess so I won't be dancing for at least the next two weeks anyway. But will be at practice on 29th.
So see y'all then.

Hi everyone,
As mentioned last night I am having a 'bring and share' Picnic/BBQ to
celebrate (finally) moving to London in my newly discovered garden. Though
now I have planned this, it will probably rain…
Other halves welcome, and if you would like to contribute any food could
you let me know so I can avoid having loads of the same thing.
BYOB, though there will be Pimms and *GIN* there already at the very least…
13:00 at 111 Cotswold Gardens, NW2 1PE.
Nearest stations are Cricklewood Thameslink (though I think there are
replacement buses this weekend) and Brent Cross/Golders Green (Northern
Line) are both around 20mins walk (less on a bus). West Hampstead/Kilburn
(Jubilee) are probably more a bus ride away (though maybe only half an hour
walk from Kilburn). There are also lots of buses that stop fairly close to
my house.
Hope to see some of you there!
Hannah
Hello all,
I've been contacted by the organiser of the ceilidh to say they're very sorry but can't really have two teams at their spot and they already have Blackheath.
They were rather apologetic and offered a couple of frwe tickets so if anyone is interested I can ask although not too many!
They have invited us instead as solo spot in September although that's a dif venue so I'll give full details when got them.
Thanks,
Becky
P.s. Thanls to everyone who came to greenwich yesterday. A lovely evening for it, hope everyone had fun!

A very enjoyable evening. Thanks everyone. Hope you all got home in reasonable time.
Thanks to Hannah's excellent collecting technique, we made £8.93, which was £8.93 more than expected. It all helps.
Cheers, Hannah!
I may not manage to get to next Monday's practice. Apologies to all.

Hi all,
Looking forward to seeing some of you tonight- arrive at 7.45 ready for 8 near the Cutty Sark boat!
We've still got quite a few no replies to the 10th July Ceilidh. Just a couple more people signing up would mean i could confirm! I really don't want to have to let him know last minute that we actually can't do it just from not hearing from people.
We have been invited to Sheffield 18th/19th October to dance with Sheffield Steel! We're generally pretty friendly with them and they've been very supportive, plus they're lots of fun so be great to have a team to do the weekend. They have said they should be able to put us all up if we get ourselves there. Anyway, if you're free add it to the signup sheet!

Hi All
I've had a bit of a manic day at work & my ankle is proper swollen. So don't think I'm going to be able to make it across town to practice tonight. Sorry! :-(
If you get this message before practice can you discuss whether or not we're going to Rickmansworth folk festival, if you want me to organise a crawl around the town or accompany any scheduled performances and what timings are likely to be.
Our plan is to have our boat there - so you can all pop by for tea too. :-)
Also sorry for not being in touch about the new plan for crawl organising. I'll drop an email this week to update y'all, but ultimately the idea is that everyone has to take a turn organising a crawl on a rolling basis & ideally on teams of two.
So in the meantime can you each think about a couple of locations close to where you live or work that:
1. Are in zones 1 or 2 (or are very easy to get to from Central London)
2. Have enough pubs to facilitate a crawl (ideally 8-10) within walking distance of each other.
3. You would be happy to visit/call to secure dance spots.
I'll be in touch soon.
Have fun tonight!

Hi all,
Firstly thanks to Sue for the information re. the travel to and from the Ceilidh- doesn't look amazing, especially for further off people, I don't know if anyone would be driving?
Just so you know they would like about a 15 minute slot for the main room plus another chance to dance in the other- so looking at..4 dances overall?
So that everyone knows we are saying no to Canterbury (in case this affects how you feel).
Thanks,
Becky
Hello all,
We have been invited to be the 'featured team' for Folk of the Wood Ceilidh at the Streatham Festival on the evening of July 10th (Friday) http://www.streathamfestival.com/node/165
I've been told the times 7.30-11 although I very much doubt we'd need to be there for the whole thing, I've asked how many dances we'd do and if it would just be at half time.It is a paid gig, as it's for charity we're only being offered £50, but better than nothing, and I think we'd get some free drinks.
The venue is a short walk from from West Norwood Station. This is 25 min bus ride from Brixton/ 20 min train ride from Victoria (as far as I can tell) My laptop seems to have been massively attacked by a virus or something so using the internet has become a huge pain- any advice?? So looking up info doesn't quite work..
Added on the signup sheet, as always please let me know availability ASAP:

Hope to see some of you later at C# for the book launch.

P.s. thank you for all the lovely responses to doodle poll! Very much appreciated :)
Hi all,
Please please please fill in this doodle poll ASAP!Just need to know when people are likely not to make practice over the summer to see if it is worth people turning up! I think the practices are already being affected and it will only increase as the weeks go on. If you're not sure if you'll be there please put no as then it won't mean we're relying on the 5th person to turn up or something

Hello all,
I've added the Northwood Day of Dance in France to the sign up sheet now, if you could please respond to it ASAP then it'll give me an idea if we want to do the trip as they either need a deposit or a firm no very urgently.
They are going to Calais from the Friday afternoon to Sunday (back around 6ish in Croydon) via Eurotunnel
It would cost £100-120 per person (depending on total numbers) and this includes:Travel to and from FranceAll travel within France to different venues etcBed and Breakfast Friday night to Sunday morning in Centre Europeen de Sejour youth hostel near the beach in Calais
We would need to pay for food Friday evening, Saturday lunch/evening and Sunday lunch and any drinks we would like :)
Deposit would be £30 pp ASAP
Please please update the signup sheet NOOOOWWWW as it would be rubbish to miss a chance to go because we were too slow.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
If anyone would like any further information please let me know and I'll get asking!
Thanks,
Becky
P.S. Laura if Hannah isn't on the mailing list yet could you possibly forward this to her when you add her? Thanks :)
Really sorry everyone, especially about such little notice, but today just hasn't gone to plan. I've been rushing to get to practice, albeit late, but still have a long to-do list and so I won't get there at all.
Really hope this hasn't compromised the practice, although I doubt it will have.
Love to y'all

Hello all,
As some of you may know, Clive Boutle (Thrales's tommy) runs a publishing company. He is publishing a new edition of the book The Wanton Seed, and there is going to be a book launch at C#H on the 10th June.
Clive just rang me and asked that I tell as many people as possible. I know some of you are folkies and would enjoy it, those who are not folkies should come anyway and support Clive!
Tell your friends. Cheers.

Hi All
I tripped last night in a restaurant & sprained my other ankle. So now can hardly walk at all, even with cutches. What are the chances?! And what a dick am I?! :-)
4 hours in A&E later & they said no broken bones (again), but got to go back next week to assess ligament damage - in both ankles!!
I think it's safe to say this puts me out for dancing for at least the next month or two, but I'll know more next week. Meantime I'm going to change myself to a 'no' on the Google doc for the next few events - just to be on the safe side. Really really sorry if this causes any issues for the team.
I haven't organised a crawl for Thursday, as assumed if we didn't have a team for Demon Barbers we wouldn't be able to crawl either. If this isn't the case & you do want some pubs let me know, as reckon I could ring round some of our regular haunts near Kings Cross.
I'll update soon on plan for future calls.
See y'all soon

Hello all!
Finally a message from me, sorry you've not had many updates recently hoping to be back on it now :)
1. No practice Monday 25th (Bank Holiday)2. No Demon Barbers3. Musician for 17th June4. Canterbury festival, perform on the Sunday?5. 18th July- Rickmansworth Festival6. Crawls7. Summer practice availability- doodle poll
1. There is NO practice this coming Monday as it is bank holiday, we will be back to normal the following Monday, 1st June.
2. Unfortunately we have had to pull out of the Demon Barber's event due to numbers- Hannorah can I check that you've let them know? As we aren't doing this I have presumed that a crawl also wouldn't really be possible- as we don't have this Monday to finalise things for people.
3. 16th June dance out in Greenwich. We have a side but we need a musician. Laura how would you feel about this? Alternatively I can potentially play, or are there any other ideas? We are a bit limited on numbers, Katherine any help with available numbers?
4. Canterbury Festival on the 28th (Sunday) it appears we can now do this, can any maybes please adjust accordingly unless you really don't know- we are VERY tight on numbers. Ffion can you double check that Patrick is happy to play for us?
5. 18th July- this would no longer be at the Bewl water park but at a festival in Rickmansworth (much easier to get to). Ffion do you have any further info? Everyone please adjust your availability accordingly
6. I've now put crawls on the signup sheet, please let us know availability
7. With the summer coming we need to make sure it is worth coming to practices so please let us know the availability!http://doodle.com/y9kxgservfdb4s6q

Thanks all, have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend :)

Apologies all for being rubbish. I'm just feeling both mentally and physically exhausted, and so think I'll have to give tonight a miss. Sorry for not letting you know sooner.

Hi All
I twisted me ankle last week playing netball.
It's big, sore & starting to go purple. But an X-ray has confirmed it's definitely not broken - which is a relief.
I won't be able to dance for at least the next couple of weeks. I'm also going to cry off coming to practice (as a supportive observer) tomorrow as walking is still a bit tricky & the stroll from Bank station alone would probably take me over half an hour! But I'll defo come next week.
The doctor said it could be up to 6 weeks before it's better but I'm fairly confident it will be less. That said, can you check we can still form a set for the Kings Cross crawl/Demon Barbers dancing on 28th without me, as I can't be sure I'll be dancing by then.
If you can't - let me know as I should probably make Demon Barbers aware that we may have to pull out. It will have a bearing on whether I make a start on getting the pubs (most of which I think I can do by phone as they're regular haunts for us).
Really sorry about this! So annoying but in some ways it's the best possible timing as it's post-DERT & right at the end of the netball season. :-)
Hxxx
See you next week.

... For practice tonight, as got netball beforehand.
I know I'm usually late anyway, but thought I'd forewarn this time in case you thought I wasn't coming.

Hello all,
Thought you might be interested to see my efforts at creating a website for Tower Ravens:
http://towerravensrapper.tumblr.com/
Of course, I've only used a tumblr blog as the basis of the site, but I tend to do this for all my own websites and thinks it works well (also means you don't have to pay hostage fees). If people think it's worth it we can buy a domain name and have it direct to this site.
I'm trying to figure out how to add a gallery of photos. But if you think I've missed anything or have any suggestions then let me know.

Hi Everyone
For those of you who are down to dance at this, see below for the details.
Dancing starts at 6.45, so reckon we'd need to be present, dressed at ready by 6.30. We're sharing a 45 min dance spot with 3 Morris teams (2 we know), so reckon we'll probably get 2 dances in max.
I've explained it's too expensive for some of the team to buy tickets. She says she thinks it's fine for us to not all go to the show if that's the case.
Address is: Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9AG (5 mins from Kings Cross station).
Can someone send me the standard team biog & a team pic to pass on to them? Or better still send it direct to Laura(a)demonbarbers.co.uk
Finally, I can organise a crawl around this area that we can do afterwards. But let's chat about that next practice.
Thanks

Hey, afraif I can't dance on friday as so ill. Potentially going to go into hospital to be on a drip (fingers crossed I feel a little better tomorrow though).
Apologies, least it's not a bad excuse!
