could also probably just go informally for one or both days. NB

Good afternoon ladies,
I hope you all got home ok last night and enjoyed sleeping in your own beds! I hope you're also all feeling proud if what we achieved at the weekend. We did some great dances and came 6th overall in the open class. I think that's an accurate representation of where we're at at the moment and I'm looking forward to getting the judges comments to see what they have to say, although I'm sure we can guess what some of the comments will be!
I've attached a picture of the 'final' marks (as of yesterday morning) and here is a break down:
We came 6th in the open class overall with 502 marks
We were the 4th best new team (out of 5)
We were 7th out of 13 in the open class for dancing with 428 points
We were joint 8th out of 13 for buzz (joint with NYFTE) with 107 points but this was very close to cinquefoil and Warwick 1
Nikki was joint 7th in the open (with cinquefoil) and joint 16th overall (also with Mabel Gubbins). She got 60 points which was higher than 2 championship teams (northgate and maltby Phoenix)
Sue was joint 4th in the open (with sisters in arms, durham uni and Dorset buttons) and joint 13th overall. She got 74 points which put her above championship tommies from Mons Meg and Whip the Cat
So... now it's time to look to the future! There are lots of things we could do in the next six months or so but it would be good to have a discussion to decide which things to prioritise. I therefore propose that we have an hour of dancing next Monday followed by an hour of chat. However, looking at the list below perhaps you think we should just have the chat with no dancing. What do you think? The following are a list of things we could think about doing in the next 6 months - we won't do all of them. Please send me any more ideas you've got to put on the list and we'll discuss them all next Monday.
Learning current dance
Teach the dance to Lindsey
Teach number one to Jo
Teach someone else 5
Get Sue confident at number 5
Work on being able to fix mistakes
Developing the current dance
Learn to tumble
Design TR underwear (that's Nikki's suggestion by the way!)
Put walk the dog in
Put tits in
Other dances
Create new, outside slow dance
Learn a traditional dance
Bookings
Tenterden - update from Hannorah
More festivals to look in to
Hastings - update from Nikki
Set up regular crawl dates
DART (DERT in America)
Team members
Recruit more tommies and Betties
Recruit more members - hold a workshop?
Recruit more musicians
Getting some swords
Frank Lee (http://www.rapper-swords.co.uk) / Jimmie Kilner (http://kjmrapperswords.co.uk)
When can we afford it?
Updates from positions
Finance update
Kit update
Social secretary update
Logo and website update
Do send me anything else you'd like to talk about. The more I look at the list, the more I think we probably should cut straight to the discussion rather than do any dancing. Does anyone object?
Looking forward to seeing some of you at the ceilidh on Friday (more details coming from Nic!) and well done again!!
Ffion x
So... For dinner I have Ffion, Lyndsey, Sue, Joanna and I. Janet? If I've missed someone out sure we can sort an extra body or two.
I promise to be more organised in the future!
See everyone else at the ceilidh.
Happy fridays
Nic xxx

Hi all,
Just found this on facebook (I wasn't intentionally spying!) and thought you might like to see how our realistic competition are getting on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmp7-7dlTC8&sns=em
I've only watched it once but I'd say their stepping style is more consistent than ours but they're not very in time and, because it's so slow and the tommy routine wasn't very interesting (maybe because its a rehearsal not a dance out) they'll score very low on buzz.
See what you all think
Ffion x
My folk band, The Foxglove Trio, is releasing a CD on 1 March! Pre-orders are now being taken.
Getting photo's from my dad will take until next year. He also didn't tell
me he was going, so I got a grumpy text asking where the hell I was! I
shall send him an email asking him though.
I was thining the same thing about the photos. Also - the twitter account
is linked to the facebook, so anything written on twitter is also put on
facebook. I can't get the link to work the other way round though. This
means - to get the best out of the publicity - we should try and post
status updates via twitter. Does that make any sense?

Hi everyone,
Here are the links to the three latest
videos:
http://youtu.be/40CSTIdT2oc The pub where we hit Sue in the head (can't remember the name)
http://youtu.be/UeKNpH1hufo The empty pub (can't remember the name of that one either)
http://youtu.be/1Vwbr16n5x4 The Dolphin two weeks ago
Apologies that my iPad had a bit of a turn on Monday so I didn't
get one of the last practice. These are the three videos I used to get
your two individual points for improvement from. Please do think about
these points when you're doing whatever mental dance preparation you're
doing this week. They are:
Sue - Get a note from Nicki for singing at the start. Hold lock with one hand at the end.
Hannorah - hands up in pixies and into fourth corner
Rachel - smile more, make sure hands don't drift apart near beginning
of next figure both in c&h As well as walk round figures
Ffion - don't look at floor in fig 8 and curley, come further in before glass, hands lower going into hoops
Nic - let go at end of 6 person lock, hands closer to hips on haymarket
Jo - hands together in front on pixies, lean back more in spin
Janet - lean back more in spin, let go of locks
Aisha - hands closer to hips in haymarket, hands up and down in pixies
Josie - closer to the set in haymarket, hands stuck in right places in walk rounds
Please remember to bring the following things for the weekend:
Kit - skirt, t-shirt, petticoat, shoes, TWO pairs of tights, sash (in a
plastic bag), hair bands and clips as necessary and your strongest bra! A few people are going to bring polish and brushes which we will use on Friday evening. Attached is a timetable for the weekend including phone numbers for
everyone I have as well as a map of the pubs with the time we're dancing
at each of them and a map with google instructions on how to get from the school to town. Please print a copy of each and keep with you at all
times in case you get separated from the team. If your number isn't on
the list please email it to everyone. Does anyone have / can we get hold of spare lashes which will fit the holes in the shoes?
So that's everything on practicalities. I hope you're all looking
forward to the weekend, even if you're a little nervous. We have a
fantastic kit, decent stepping, an engaging Tomy and a dance with some interesting
features. We've also got energy and enthusiasm. As long as we all
concentrate and smile (!) I think we'll be able to score highly enough
to reach the middle of the open class. Regardless of how the dancing
goes I'm sure we'll have a fun weekend meeting old friends and making
new ones and getting new ideas for the future.
See you on the train / in Burton!
Ffion x
I'll bring them on Friday, they'll be perfect for Saturday.
I'm also going to try & borrow a big kit bag from work so we can put all out little bags in it when we're dancing - keeps them safe, secure & alto in one place.
Sent from my iPhone
Hi Guys,
I will wait around the barrier just before 7.30 hoping to meet others going for the train.
I have some parade shoe polish which I will bring. I only have two brushes. Entertainment for the train journey.
It was decided to take note of peoples mobiles. Mine is 07867938568.
I would like one of Ffion's CD's if she can bring one along.
Cheers,
Janet x
Hi all,
Collection results from last night are in. Guesses were as follows:
Hannorah £48.00
Daniel £54.70
Jo £55.00
Rachel £58.04
Nic £62.00
Deb £64.00
Sue £64.57
Ffion £73.50
Nikki £84.14
But we were all completely wrong, because we actually made £116.98 +
€0.02! (Yes, I know, I can't believe it either, but I counted it
twice). This is the most we've ever made on a tour, so go us! And
practically enough to buy us a new set of swords right there. A big
thanks go to Deb and Sue for being on the ball and doing most of the
collecting work, and Daniel for being generally friendly to punters :)
Nikki wins by being closest, so well done Nikki.
I think this is also testimony that the chocolate eggs really do work
:) (Sue, let me know how much I owe you there.)
Hope you all have a good weekend, see you Monday.
Rachel x
Hello all,
Following a discussion with Sue, there is a proposal for a Theme 1b option.
The advantage of this over theme 1, is that it is a more standard font,
thus meaning we would be able to use the font on the website, rather than
just on images.
With regards to crispness, theme 1b, like theme 2, hasn't been made into
a final (vector) image yet, so please don't judge them on the
crispness/smoothness of the image. This is very apparent on the 'R' of
theme 2, and will be smoothed out to look like the 'final hopping bird' all
over.
Happy voting!

Ok - sorry it's a little later than planned.
Voting finishes midday on Sunday - so I can finalise designs for the
business cards, to be voted in Monday, so you guys can take them to DERT!
There are two themes.
Theme 1 - Raven sat on top.
Theme 2 - Raven 'R'.
Both Themes include a banner, logo and possible business card layout. The
business card's aren't final and are there as an illustration.
The last page of the document is a very quick idea of what a little bit of
colour might do. If anyone has any idea's for how to add colour into the
mix, that would be brilliant, please email me! I've done a few ideas with
highlighting the raven feathers on both designs, but it's taking alot of
time, so though I would only develop that on the final design.
Vote here: http://www.doodle.com/thfneevax6npp8ry
Lindsey
P.s. I did mock up the design for theme 2 with the gothic font, but it
looked really bad, so I've ditched it. It's attached for those who would
like to wince.
P.p.s. I've also attached the little hopping bird, cos he's cute, and took
ages to draw! I thought whatever we chose we could probably fit him on the
website somewhere.
Hi,
Just got back from my country break. Well done on Thursday. Yes a bag would be good and I have just voted. Well done Lindsey. See you all on Monday with biscuits. Janet x
Hi Guys
I love Sue's blue 'pump bag' and though I might purchase a similar one for myself to use as DERT.
I've seen these super-cheap ones online:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CENTRIX-PREMIUM-GYMSAC-DRAWSTRING-RUCKSACK/dp/B005D…
I doubt they're the best quality but will certainly do for next weekend.
Would everyone else like one too? I was considering ordering a dozen for the team then we can all have one and have a few spare.
I'll need to place the order by the end of the day to ensure they arrive in time, so unless I hear back that any of you don't want a bag I'll just go ahead and get them.

Hi All
Apologies for the lack of detail thus far on Thursday night's crawl.
After limited luck finding pubs in Tower Hill (many thanks Nikki for trying) the safer bet seems to be to go for pubs in the Whitechapel area instead - which being Tower Hamlets still feels Tower-ish enough to call home.
I'm in the process of securing pubs and planning the route and will send a full list between now and Thursday evening.
In the meantime let's meet at:
Indo
133 Whitechapel Road
E1 1DT.
Nearest tubes: Aldgate East or Whitechapel
Time: dressed and ready to dance at 7.15pm
Food options: Indo does great pizzas apparently so get there earlier if you want to eat. I'll aim to be there for 6.30.
Please bring your new sashes, complete with sewn-in velcro.
Jo - I know you're planning to join us later. I suggest you come to Whitechapel Road then give me a call or drop a text (07748483654) when you arrive and I'll tell you which pub to go to. I have a number for you ending 620, so if that's the right one I'll also try and update you by text as we move.
Give me a shout if you need any more info at this point, otherwise see you all at Indo no later than 7.15pm.

Hi all,
Sorry, I completely forgot to mention that I have an extra class tonight at 6:30, because of an exam tomorrow. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to go as it's a pretty important exam!
Have a good practice, and good luck on Thursday's crawl!
Aisha
Dear Ravens
Has anyone had any luck sourcing these? Someone was going to try to look into it, but I can't remember who.
I have had a brief search on the internet, but I daren't spend any more time on it until the sewing is done, by which time it will be too late to get them for DERT.
We need 24in round laces in royal blue, 3mm/ 3/32in wide or less. Maybe 1/8in wide would do.
The nearest I've got I are in the USA at http://www.shoelacesexpress.com/blueshoelaces.asp#dress
If anyone could help here, I'd be ever so grateful.
Please remember to bring your 'sash' to tomorrow's practice.
Jo - don't worry about your skirt tomorrow, unless Ffion asks us to bring them for practising in. Could I borrow it after next Thursday's crawl, please?
Oh dear, I'm getting very bossy. Sorry everyone. Note to self - don't panic!
