Hello everyone,
I hope none of you are aching too much after 6 hours of practice in 2 days!
Video
Here is the video I took yesterday http://youtu.be/NfxWQN3jrp8 please watch yourself and look for your areas for improvement. If you'd like me to email you some areas for improvement to think about in preparation for the next practice I'm happy to do that. Nic, can you upload the one you took and save it unlisted?
Stepping
I hope everyone is regularly practising stepping at home. If you're not please try an do 10 minutes a day e.g. When waiting for your pasta to boil or, if you don't mind funny looks, waiting for the tube! On Sunday we gave everyone areas for improvement on stepping. If you want me to remind you what yours are let me know. Generally you'll need to exaggerate your change e.g. If you need to make smaller / bigger circles with your feet they'll be much much smaller / bigger than feels natural.
Sunday practice
We're meeting at 2pm in the church hall on Sunday. I'm expecting everyone apart from Rachel and possibly Lindsey. Correct me if that's wrong. I'm on cake duty.
Shoes
I took the shoes to the man today and he said he'll do them by Friday but they're not open at the weekend. Unfortunately I'm going to a TV show recording on Friday evening and the T&Cs say don't bring big bags and there will be airport style security. Would anyone be able to pick them up on Friday or meet me somewhere in London on Friday evening? Alternatively, I could pick them up and take them to the church hall on Friday evening. Do we think the church would be OK with that if I hid them away under the desk in the corner?
I only had 7 pairs to take - I know I was missing Lindsey's and I think the others are Aishas. If you take your shoes to him soon he'll do it for the discount price. The place is called Fresh Collection and it's literally right by St Paul's Tube station - sort of in the same building as the exit.
He's doing yours for £16 each. Sue kindly suggested that, as mine were £27 you all pay £17 to even it out a bit. Rachel, do you want to take payment via the Raven's account or to me directly?
Dutch TV
Sorry I forgot to bring this up at business. The guy went to Thrales' practice last night and is going to film them at DERT. I'm included to say we should just let thrales get on with it and not bother with it ourselves. Anyone have strong opinions on this one?
See you on Sunday,
Ffion x

Subject: [Tower Ravens] Practice this Sunday and a few other things
Date: Wed, Jan 30, 2013 20:39
Hi everyone,
A few points from me ahead of our practice on Sunday.
Sunday practice
Please arrive at the normal church by 2pm. We will practise until approx 6pm. Hannorah will bring cake. I believe everyone apart from Nikki, Lindsey and possibly Josie are coming. Is that right? We will split the cost of the room hire (£30) between everyone who comes and Rachel will collect money for this separate from normal subs.
DERT trains
Some people have already booked the 1940. Sue and Jo are planning on going up in the afternoon. I think I'm going to get the 1840 . Obviously the sooner you book them the cheaper they're likely to be. I'm not sure what time people have booked for coming home on the Sunday.
Crawls
We should try and have two more crawls before DERT I think. Nikki has set up a doodle poll for all Thursdays and Fridays between now and then. If you have any ideas of where you'd like to crawl please bring them on Sunday / email before then.
Dutch film company
A Dutch film company are interested in coming to film our practices and competition at DERT. I will forward the email separately. If you have opinions please voice them on Sunday / email before then.
Sashes
Sue is trailing a new, heavier sash. She's going to try and email some photos / videos before Sunday so those not coming can email their opinion. She'll also be brining it on Sunday for us to see and discuss.
See you all soon,
Ffion x

> I'm a documentary filmmaker who's recently graduated from the University of Manchester and has been asked to pitch ideas for Metropolis TV (http://www.metropolistv.nl/en), the Dutch show which looks at cultures across the globe. One of the categories for their Spring season is to look at 'Dance' within the correspondent's country, to uncover what it means to perform traditional dances in the 21st century.
>
> I've been in contact with the team at DERT 2013 and they recommended I contact you to see if you'd be interested in being in my 4-5 minute report for Metropolis? At the moment I'm hoping I could document your preparations for the DERT competition and your performance on the 9th of March? As the film is so short it wouldn't take a great deal of your time and, although I can't offer financial compensation, I would be happy to barter my production skills (filming; photography; sound recording; editing) in return for your participation.
>
> If you're interested and would like to discuss the project further, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or on 0777 613 2087. If you'd like to know more about my work, you can see my graduation film about Nidar Singh Nihang, the last master of Shastar Vidiya, here https://vimeo.com/52387660 (password = 'preview').

Subject: Quick favour
Hi Friends
Sorry for the group email, I just wanted to ask you all to do a mega quick favour for me.
Can you take 20 seconds to go to: http://responsibility.itvplc.com/our-pledge/pledge-your-support-today.aspx
and make a pledge to volunteer this year.
Don't worry it doesn't require you to have a specific volunteering opportunity in mind yet, just a desire to make a difference in some shape or form.
ITV are running this volunteer pledge and the government is donating £1 for every pledge to the 6 charities who benefitted from ITV's Text Santa this Christmas - Age UK (my charity!), Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, Marie Curie, Together for Short Lives and Whizz-Kidz.
You've only got until 31st March, so please if you do one good thing today make it be this. We really need your support!
Thanks
