As I was only in the meeting for a bit yesterday I thought I'd save my thank yous from DERT for an email! As well as some business..
- Virtual DERT
- Going forward with weekly meetings
- Postponed EGM
- Task for next week!
1.Virtual DERT
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved, whether that was preparing a submission, voting, joining in on the chat, or just not going insane at trying to keep up with the number of messages going round! I really appreciated the distraction
and I hope you all did too.
I did want to give a special thanks to a few people:
- Martin for all the mighty video editing (solo dance and buzz)
- Paul, I mean Patrick, for the character video!
- Miriam for the Steep Hill photo
- Hannah for all the admin
- Katherine for all the social media posts on the day (and Rachel-Anne celebrating our victory on instagram!
- Dilly team for the stepping videos and all the hard work in the solo dance
Overall enthusiasm and participation was typically ravens, and once more I was made immensely proud to be part of such an awesome group!
2. Zoom meetings are hopefully being enjoyed by everyone and I know the most recent one went well being chaired by Emma, as well as her organising it in the first place and providing a topic. I would propose a different person does this job each
week, it's not hard but it does split it up! Not everyone has to do it, I don't want it to be a massive task for everyone. Next week I nominate Ellie to organise and chair
- but she can come up with a topic (sorry Ellie, if you hate the idea please get someone else to do it).
3. Obviously yesterday would have been the EGM and although we're not going to try and do this remotely I do want to remind everyone that when we can meet, and we have the EGM, I will be standing down as foreperson. We never really got to the bottom of
an assistant at practice as although Katherine helped with whatever I asked of her (she knows I'm sorry!) it didn't really work very well as is just too hard to coordinate much in advance. It basically took someone with experience of teaching to do something
productive with whoever was left after my planned activity (most common when someone/ multiple people had said they couldn't make practice, but only on the day).
I am 100% happy to go through my role, answer any questions and have any discussions about how a new foreperson can be supported.
I also think it's worth discussing the handover in the current circumstances. As above, I'm happy to stay in place until we have an EGM, but with such a long break I imagine getting back into dancing might be rather unusual, if people think we need a process
to cover that please suggest!
4. Fun task??
I was going to suggest this for the particularly bored/creative. Since we won so many awards but get no trophies, if people want to design winning trophies over the week and share them on zoom that'd be awesome. (I'm thinking imaginative use of recycling!).
Stay safe and keep in touch,
Becky xx
