Thanks Hannah!
Yay to Trello!
Below is some very very draft long copy about ‘Challenge-DART’. This will be the most
generic version of key messages, and assumes the audience knows little/nothing about
rapper. From this we’d tweak versions for different audiences/different grant giving
criteria. (please no one take offence from the ‘low incomes’ bit, this is just to create
more of a ‘need’ which could help with grants and sponsorship, but wouldn’t be used for
other bits of fundraising, likewise I appreciate not all of us identify as ‘young’ but
this will make it more compelling too 😉)
Martin/Becky/Emma - perhaps you want to look in the first instance and come back with
feedback for 2nd draft
I’m not quite sure I’ve nailed the 3 main reasons for example. Pease don’t hold back
either, if it’s not right we can start again.
Generic long copy:
We're Tower Ravens. We're an award winning dance team based in the City of London.
We perform a traditional English folk dance called Rapper Sword Dancing.
Our members are young but passionate about keeping the ancient tradition of sword dancing
alive.
Tower Ravens is undertaking a big challenge. We hope to represent the UK at an
international sword dance dance competition in the USA in October (or November). And
we're seeking your support to help us get there.
The competition is a unique opportunity to:
- Take English Rapper Sword Dancing to a new audience across the Atlantic.
- Forge valuable cultural ties with the international traditional dance community.
- Develop the skills and confidence of our young dancers and musicians.
A number of the Tower Ravens team are in full-time education or on low incomes. So
together we’re fundraising to make this challenge possible.
We’re aiming to raise at least £10,000 in total. Your donation, however big or small will
take Tower Ravens one step closer to achieving this dream of representing our country and
preserving a crucial part of the UK’s cultural history - traditional Rapper Sword
Dancing.

Hi All,
Thanks to those that came to the fundraising planning meeting for DART earlier, to keep
everyone in the loop, please find the minutes attached and a list of action points
below.
I have created a trello board to help coordinate everything, you need to join if you are a
yes for DART, however if you are a maybe / fancy being nosy please feel free to join as
well. It's a rough outline which I will work up a bit as we go and as people join.
Current idea is that tasks that need doing are blue, urgently need doing red, in progress
yellow, done green. One list for each topic and we can add more as we go. I might
restructure a bit in the morning when I've thought about it more. We would like to
keep the whole team in the loop even if not everyone is able to go.
There is now a DART folder on our G Drive as well for anything that needs storing in
there, though things can be stored on trello too (this board is owned by TR).
