Hello all,
Quite a bit of business so do give this a read through please!
1. Ceilidh Spot had changed date2. Sheffield Steel weekend3. No crawl this month4.
Cancelled practices5. Black Swan Morris day of dance6. Dert
1. The Ceilidh Spot in West Norwood has been cancelled in September and will now be
happening October 16th (please fill in the signup sheet if you can make it). I suspect we
won't get a team as that now clashes with travel time for people heading to Sheffield
to dance with them. Either way please fill in so I know that you've seen and thought
about it!

2. Sheffield Steel weekend has had a much better response for the weekend of 17th-18th
October so I've emailed SS to say we're free then if it's still ok with them-
watch this space for more details.Sadly Nikki isn't available that weekend, we are in
the process of trying to figure out something with musicians, if you feel like you want to
play that weekend please let me know ASAP. Alternatively Martin (Sallyport/Hannah) thinks
he should be able to make it. Or alternatively again SS offered there musicians so we are
covered either way.
3. and 4. Due to the high numbers of people away there will be no crawl this month (was
scheduled for 27th). Similarly there will be no practice on the 24th, due to tiny numbers,
or the 31st as it is a bank holiday.
5. Black Swan Morris (not rapper!) Have invited us to their day of dance on the 3rd
October in Carshalton. This is 45 mins from Kings Cross. Northern Line to Balham and then
a 15 min train ride. Currently we have very few details as to what the day will involve
although I have asked for more info.
6. DERT registrations are now open! Not only is this early for them to open but they close
on the 31st of October, this is much earlier than normal and means we won't have the
opportunity to discuss anything that much beforehand as normally that all happens at the
AGM. I am going to write up a few questions/problems we might have with competing/prepping
for DERT in the next few days so that anyone who has a point to raise has an opportunity
to do it. If everyone seems reasonably happy we can get on with applying but if it seems
we need a more formal discussion we'll schedule that in.DERT is now on the signup
sheet so feel free to say a definite yes or no if you've already decided :)-->
Interestingly the Trad competition has changed a little and now has a written element
where you explain how you're performing and you are judged on the accuracy to your own
notation. Currently I'm not sure when this is due but it seems quite an exciting
change and should stop problems such as we had re. being docked points for not doing a
figure even though we did! Bah.
Sorry that's rather long but should get us through the next few weeks! I'll
hopefully have some more information re. Sheffield and Carshalton soon and I'll get
the DERT email out as soon as possible.
Thanks!
Becky
