Hello lovely ravens!
Just thought I'd send a tiny update on vaguely rapper related things.
Thanks to those that filled in the socially distanced travel spreadsheet, I
think we're still only allowed 6 people max (ish) in a meet-up
guidelines-wise, so probably can't technically organise something for the
whole team yet... However you can at least see who is reasonably close to
you, so mini-meet-ups could continue to be a thing (which I know some of
you have already been doing ☺ )

If you fancy reading it, the latest issue of Dancing On is now digital:

Even though we can't dance or practice yet (though I guess a socially
distanced outdoor clog could technically happen..), there are still good
things happening in the world of morris such as the JMO announcement on
Black Face - no teams will now be insured if they wear full face black or
skin makeup. Also to help fill that festival hole, some of them are
preparing some virtual content (Sidmouth drawing to a close now, but there
were some nice photos of us at the Morris Wednesday Party in our Tube
station bird outfits)
Eilidh is trying to pull together something for a virtual Beck Hole type
thing (Whitby Tuesday evening fun), the original deadline was 7th August,
but not sure if this has changed. Anyway they wanted stories, images or
videos of it - not sure if we actually have any photos barring some on the
steam train on the way there!
And it looks like Emily (Sheffield Steel) might be pulling together some
stuff from Whitby parades (currently asking for 2015 and 2016 videos), so
hopefully there might be some of us from last year appearing too. Either
way there will be some stuff to keep us entertained that week.
Whittlesea Strawbear 2021 has been cancelled due to uncertainty and the
issues with organising the festival in a Covid world. However in addition
to the calendar that Clare mentioned, they are also drawing together a
virtual offering instead. Rebecca has asked "if any of you would like to
participate in some way, please do contact me! It would be lovely to have a
showcase of teams broadcast on our website/facebook page on the weekend, if
there is any footage you have or can create during the lockdown or within
current government guidelines, then great, otherwise maybe some footage
that you have from previous strawbear festivals would be good too." Did we
have anything from earlier this year? I'm not proposing we create things,
unless anyone really wants to!
And finally a little update from DERT 2021:
"Just a quick update on next year's event:- we are currently planning for
some sort of physical DERT next year, while looking at how to make it work
for individuals or teams who cannot or prefer not to attend, seeing as the
virus disappearing by March is about as likely as someone laughing at the
rubber hand gag. There is a shadow of a chance of the dates changing as our
would-be showcase venue has announced that they will be closed until April
at the soonest, so perhaps don't rush to book your travel and accommodation
just yet; we will also have to keep the feasibility of hosting a large
gathering under review. Watch this space though - we are doing our best,
and will keep you posted. Sorry if that's a bit mirthless, we do have some
exciting promotional materials in the post, even as I type🎉
See you all soon(-ish, hopefully)!"
"See" you on Monday!
Hannah
