Hi All,

Ignore Bridport. We have an invite to Warwick Folk Festival!!

So I've put Warwick in place of Bridport on the sign-up sheet. Bit of info from the invite below. But basically dancing Sat and Sunday, they tend to ask rapper teams to go to the pub (woop!), ceilidh spots and workshops tbc nearer the time.

Now that's definitely something worth visiting the sign-up sheet for ☺

Thanks,
Hannah

"the festival usually starts on Thursday evening and finishes late Sunday evening.

The morris tours include dancing at the festival site and in Warwick.  We usually ask rapper teams to join a few dance spots, but mostly to dance in the pubs in town, especially the ones that sponsor the festival.  The commitment is from ~10 am until ~ 5.30 pm on Saturday and ~11 am until ~4.00 pm on Sunday.  We usually ask a few teams to do workshops and some to do ceilidh spots, which we will organise nearer the time.

In return, we offer tickets for performers and their juniors (10-17 yrs inclusive).  Tickets for performers’ partners for the weekend will be available at the very heavily discounted rate of £45.  Anyone under ten does not require a ticket but must be accompanied by an adult.

The camping facilities include showers and swimming pool (limited opening times).  Please be aware that dogs are not allowed onto the Warwick School site – this includes the campsite, ceilidh venue and concert marquee. "

Hi All,

It's going to be a long-ish one as I've tried to briefly summarise some of the events we've been invited to next year. Please pay special attention to the super urgent sign-ups. I'll be bringing a couple of copies of the sign-up sheet to the AGM and might even remember one on Sunday as well for all the other slightly less urgent sign-ups...

1. Upcoming events
2. Super Urgent Sign-ups
3. Less urgent sign-ups
4. Declined invites

1. Upcoming events
Firstly, it is Thrales Day on Sunday! The Knights Templar near Chancery Lane will open at 12, please be in kit and ready to dance at 1215 - there should be lots of us, so lots of fun. Anyone who isn't dancing, but fancies watching a load of rapper / clog / occasional broom dance, feel free to come along! Thrales will also be out with Medlock on the Saturday starting in de Hems, Soho - I think at 12..

Our AGM will then be on Monday - more on this coming in a separate email...

2. Super Urgent Sign-ups!!
30th November spot at the Courtyard Theatre, there are a couple of no-replies and maybes that weren't at practice last night if you could take a look at this urgently please as we need to get back to them asap. (I will be chasing)

York Festival of Dance (7-8 September) They need to know by 10th Nov, so if you are a maybe or a no reply, please move yourself to yes or no asap - you are the deciding people. It should be fun as we'll be dancing in pubs and there are a lot of good rapper pubs in York. (again I will be chasing)

3. Less urgently:
All the events in 2019 - we have quite a few of these at the mo, I appreciate they are ages away, but a lot of them do need to know either before Christmas/early 2019. So if you could at least move to a maybe (just to make me feel like I'm not talking to myself) or even better a yes/no that would be a great help as that tends to result in enough No's in some cases to turn an event down and makes decisions on the remainder easier. I'll put a brief summary of all the current invites below as a reminder of what each of them is.

If you haven't yet danced out with us, you will have done by the time these events happen, so please don't be afraid to sign-up to anything that you would like (or even not like!) to go to. ☺

We've also just been invited to Bridport Folk Festival in Dorset 26-28th July. I don't know much about the festival, so if anyone has been and has any info, please let me know. All I have gleaned so far is that there is ceilidh dancing and dance workshops and that we would get discounted tickets, so possibly not the most amazing offer, but I may be wrong!

Dance on the Moor, Goathland (25-27th May)- invited us and other sword teams specifically. Steam train (probably) pub crawl between Whitby and Goathland.  Indoor camping available / space for tents. Live music in the evenings. It is possible to get there entirely by public transport - apparently it involves Britain’s most scenic bus route (York-Whitby bus)… max about 4 hours travel time to get there. We really ought to be making a decision on this one asap so they have time to plan - so it is sort of urgent...

Ossett Beer Cart (31st May-2nd June) - Dancing mostly outside, a spot in the hall usually as well. Additional pub dancing entirely possible. Camping on the cricket grounds, showers available. ~2.5 hrs away

Wimborne Minster Festival (7-9th June) - dancing sat and sun, all outside.  3hrs away

Kimpton Festival (6th July) - Think this was a couple of dance spots at the festival and maybe a workshop, they'd ensure we can get to nearest public transport (it stops early and they are super keen for us to go)

Hammersmith are 60 (13th July) - Dancing in various places in London

Bridport Festival (see above)

Any further Q's on any of these, please shout and I'll see if I have the answers...

4. We've declined the following invites:
Evesham
Blackheath Morris 50th Ale (clashes with Kimpton)
Ilfracombe Morris Festival

Sign up sheet is here as usual:

Congrats on reaching the bottom of a super long email! Have a lovely week and see you all soon!

Hannah ☺
