I'm a documentary filmmaker who's recently graduated from the University of Manchester and has been asked to pitch ideas for Metropolis TV (
http://www.metropolistv.nl/en), the Dutch show which looks at cultures across the globe. One of the categories for their Spring season is to look at 'Dance' within the correspondent's country, to uncover what it means to perform traditional dances in the 21st century.
I've been in contact with the team at DERT 2013 and they recommended I contact you to see if you'd be interested in being in my 4-5 minute report for Metropolis? At the moment I'm hoping I could document your preparations for the DERT competition and your performance on the 9th of March? As the film is so short it wouldn't take a great deal of your time and, although I can't offer financial compensation, I would be happy to barter my production skills (filming; photography; sound recording; editing) in return for your participation.
If you're interested and would like to discuss the project further, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or on 0777 613 2087. If you'd like to know more about my work, you can see my graduation film about Nidar Singh Nihang, the last master of Shastar Vidiya, here https://vimeo.com/52387660 (password = 'preview').
Thank you very much for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Jacob Harbord
