Hi all,
Well done to everyone for another successful crawl on Thursday. Here's a link to (most of) the dance in the dolphin -
http://youtu.be/1Vwbr16n5x4
We've now got to the stage where everyone knows where to go for which figure almost all of the time which is great and a vast improvement on the standard we were at last time we danced out! Over the next two weeks we need to work on STYLE i.e. precision and sword handling. With this in mind here are the top 1 or 2 things we all need to think about during the dance for each figure. If we can do these things we'll get lots more points At dert. There WILL be a test on this on Monday so get learning!
Walking on - hilt of the sword sitting at shoulder level, body upright and looking forward
Clash - don't shuffle around before the clash
Walk round - look over the next person's shoulder, left hand on the person in front's bra strap, right hand level with your own right breast, making sure to return to this position after you've done your turn out
Figure of 8 - walk all the way to the front, turn body and head snappily
Glass - move quickly
Haymarket - keep your hands stuck together during the display around, don't speed up your stepping during tend display around
Getting into pixies - remember that number 3 sets off on beat 1, everyone else waits for beat 3
Pixies - hands snap all the way up on 1 and down on 4, swish your skirt across the front
Lock - move on 1 and 2, be in place for 3, lock on 4 and immediately do jazz hands
Displaying lock - don't speed up the stepping
Spin - lean back, keep feet in time with the music
Hoops - get close to each other ASAP as in walk round, make sure to line up feet with number 5 when you make the display
4th corner - snap down on beat 4, silent on beat 3 during the jumps
Curley - come to the front and look ahead as in fig 8
End - smile and don't relax your body until you're off the 'stage'
Happy learning,
Ffion x
My folk band, The Foxglove Trio, is releasing a CD on 1 March! Pre-orders are now being taken.
Also here is our calling on limerick:
We've come to sample your kegs
And bribe your judges with eggs
We've escaped from the tower
To show off our power
Our petticoats, knickers and legs

Hiya,
Thanks to those of you who came out last night - I had a really good
night, and I thought we did some really good dances. I hope Ffion's
finger gets better soon!
For those of you who weren't there, we raised £62.75, which from 5
dances isn't at all bad!
My note to self, as it were, is to try and tighten up the chunks of
stepping between the figures, so you can all call me on that after a
dance if I fail. :)
Hope you have a good practice on Monday (I won't be around), and
looking forward to our next crawl in Whitechapel.
Rxx
