My housemate organises the dance sides, but I think there were already plans to invite tower ravens in 2019, so I guess they changed it to 2018 as others dropped out :) x
Sent from my iPhoneWow, that's very exciting. Wonder who, if anyone, put in a word for us. X

Stop Press!!
Super exciting! We have just been actually officially invited to Sidmouth Folk Week!!! Get your replies in quick! We've made it to the big festivals!! :)
"[...] am responsible for organising dance displays at Sidmouth Folk Week, and I am writing to ask if Tower Ravens would like to come to Folk Week in 2018, from Friday 3rd August to Friday 10th August.
The invitation would involve dancing throughout the week (except for one day off for each team) in a range of spots around the town, on the seafront, and in high profile dance shows and ceilidh spots. You may also be asked to run at least one workshop.
The offer to the team would be the standard one to all Sidmouth dance teams, with free season tickets for dancers, musicians and their partners plus children which allow free entry to all of the 700 or so events throughout the week except for the evening concerts in the Ham Marquee where there is an additional charge. The range of events include concerts, song sessions, dance shows, social and ceilidh dances, workshops, talks, and also a whole series of events for children. There is free camping on the well equipped campsite for all side members, with a small charge for camping partners, and also a small charge for any caravans / camper vans brought. You can also find more general information on the festival website sidmouthfolkweek.co.uk.Rapper has proved very popular at Folk Week in recent years and we would like to have at least 2 or 3 high quality rapper teams present throughout the week. So far we already have confirmation of attendance from Whip The Cat and Thrales, but as Thrales have told us very recently they can only attend for the first weekend of the festival, we would like to have at least one more excellent side. We therefore very much hope you’ll be able to accept this invitation, but would appreciate an answer as soon as you are able, and ideally within the next couple of weeks so that we have the opportunity to invite other teams if you are unable to come."

Hi All,
Lots of potential festival bookings coming up - some of these in particular we need to get a wiggle on with if we would like to go, so please take a look at your diaries and sign yourselves up! Some of them I have a reasonable amount of info for, others it's just a case of whatever is on the website. To keep this email within the realms of possibility for reading all the way through I've left out some detail.
Firstly, I know this will be a disappointment, but it sounds as though we were sort of forgotten for Beverley this year and unfortunately both Star and Shadow and Black Swan have been confirmed. It sounds like we will have first refusal though for next year if that makes it feel better. On the flip side of this, we were also invited to St Albans festival for the Saturday which we can do, even if a couple of people change their minds on availability (please don't all do so though!). As such I have put everyone's responses as they were for Beverley for St Albans on the sign-up - feel free to amend if needed.
Now, in no particular order...
Wimborne Minster 8-10 June. Am assuming this is a no, unless there is a sudden flurry of people wishing to go
Sandwich Folk and Ale 6-8 JulyLooks to be about 1.5hrs away by train. There is camping available and we would be able to choose what day/s we wish to do. Sounds like we can go suss out the pubs and there is also a stone floor in the church (where the craft stalls will be - I'm not randomly proposing invading the church. Sounds like they would love us to go.
Bridport Folk Festival 27-29 JulyI think this is the second year that they have run the festival - sounds like they book around 20 dance teams and have over 50 bands. More info on the website: https://www.bridportfolkfestival.com/ Looks to be 3.5 hours by public transport - so would be the whole weekend to be worthwhile.
Sidmouth Folk Week 3-10 AugustI've heard that Star and Shadow aren't able to make it. Whip the Cat and Thrales (first weekend only) will be there. SO we could see if we could get an invite / maybe go as a scratch side if enough of us happened to be there anyway. Please indicate if you think you might be there anyway.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival - a weekend in AugustSuggested at the AGM, we thought it would be great to turn up in Edinburgh for a weekend in August and dance around the pubs there in between events. If interested in doing this please put your name down, perhaps with an indication of weekends you can / can't do.
Leigh Folk Festival - 24th June
http://leighfolkfestival.com/ seems to be a mixed festival, with morris etc. type things more on the Sunday with a procession.
Faversham Hop Festival - 1/2 Septemberhttps://favershamhopfestival.org/ Again one where we can just go for a day - only about 1.25 hrs away on the train.
Wickham Folk Festival 2-5 AugustThink we were invited rather last minute to this one, think the line-up actually sounded good last year. https://www.wickhamfestival.co.uk/ Free ticket on dancing days. Other days half price (£25), also offer half price tickets to partners. Please fill in by 15th Feb for this one.
Congratulations! You've made it to the end. You may now have a biscuit (once you've filled in the sign-up sheet - link below!)
Thanks,
Hannah
