Sue,
All emails go through the mailing list server, so anything suspicious is
bounced at that point. We get around 1-2 spam emails a week at the moment
and none get through, so I wouldn't worry about it.
You only get emails that are from 'trusted people' ie - us lot, or things I
specifically approve.
John is now banned anyway.

Definitely suspicious. I hope the fact that
you've replied doesn't have
any ramifications for the team or, more importantly, for any individuals in
the group (ie all of us)
If anyone starts getting unexplained spam, I suggest you warn us all.

Sounds like spam or a virus or something. Can't imagine anyone would have
john(a)hotmail.com - unless they were the first John to ever get a hotmail
address. :-)

Does anyone know of anyone with the email 'john(a)hotmail.com' who has
expressed an interest in joining the email group.
It's usually very easy to tell if an email is spam or not... but I'm
unsure on this one as they are sending requests at 2-3 hourly intervals.
Suggestions?
Lindsey
P.s. I've already emailed them directly.
