Happy Easter! Hope you're enjoying the long weekend. Just to say I'll be at
practice on Tuesday now. I managed to find a fill-in for my netball team :)

Hi guys,
The running order for DERT is up!
http://www.dert2015.co.uk/and-at-long-last-the-waiting-is-over-competition-…
We're on second to last at 17.18 (or there abouts...). The DERT team's
last dance is at 15.50, so we shouldn't have a clash or need to rush over
before we've finished cheering them on. Thrales are dancing at 16.30 and
17.06.
Have a lovely Easter weekend and I'll see you on Tuesday,
Sinéad
P.s. Don't forget to bring your t-shirt (and ideas for the neckerchiefs)
so we can check that we match before DERT.

Hello,
Stepping videos, I hope they might help. My stepping isn't perfect- when
you're practising focus on what Ffion tells us about keeping our feet close
to our bodies, staying on the spot, posture, and most importantly staying
in time to the music!
Westerhope stepping:

Double stepping:
http://youtu.be/FQJ3hWUebbE
The music I used was Sammy's fancy <http://youtu.be/tcAA2g-2u70> which I
think is a tad slower than we normally dance Jubilee (when we're on our
game), and Viking Jig
<https://play.spotify.com/track/5Wucepwk5XvgdBrWqebyEN> (or preview here
<http://www.amazon.co.uk/Viking-George-Fowlers-Ambrose-Mahars/dp/B005M07ZN8>)
which is the speed I'd like to aim for.
I hope you've been practising your jumps [image: *:) happy]
See you on Monday,
Sinéad

Hi everyone,
I saw Warwick Rapper at IVFDF this weekend, they performed 'Chain' and so
I wanted to share some videos. Firstly, chain as danced by Frayed Knot in
Westerhope: Frayed Knot Rapper—Westerhope.mov
<http://youtu.be/3DkuJrdoXQM?t=2m47s> - I'd like to have less stepping,
but they make it look straightforward. Secondly, this figure from Warwick's

just to show it can be done.
See you later,

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your work last night. We got through the whole dance apart
from chain, and I've written it out below as it'll be danced on Thursday.
We also did some work on Cramper (2 & 4 come forward and around 1 & 5, then
lock), getting from the lock to coach and horses in 8, keeping 1 & 5's
sword flat in coach and horses, turn out, and jigging guard.
I'm sorry I can't make it on Thursday, but I'm sure it'll go well and
you'll have a great night.

Hi,
Here's the new dance order :)
1) Stand in line: Walk on, jig for 8 in a line.
2) Turn out: Walk around, turn out in order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 every 4 bars.
3) Double Cramper: 3 walks forward under the front sword and around, while
everyone else steps for 8. 1, 2, 4 & 5 do a mini curley while 3 steps.
Repeat. Lock.
4) Tipping Guard: Step for 8 in coach and horses, 3 walks forward, jumps
over front sword and tumbles. Lock.
5) Fourth Corner: Step for 8 in coach and horses, as in Jubilee except 1 &
5 jump, then 3 jumps. Lock.
6) Chain: 1 & 5 turn out and stand facing down. 2, 3 & 4 turn on the spot
standing very close together with 3's swords crossed behind her head. 1 & 5
sweep while the others simultaneously jump. Lock.
Tommy enters. (We haven't practised with a Tommy yet.)
7) Fast Knot: Curley x3, then cross sides and immediately back again in
order 1, 5, 2, 4, 3, as in figure of 8. One curley to finish, then Lock.
8) Jigging Guard: Step for 8 in coach and horses. 1 & 5 walk to the back,
others continue stepping- stationary for 4, then moving forward for 4. 2 &
4 walk to back, others step, stationary for 4, forward for four. 3 walks to
the back, others step, stationary fro four, forward for four. All stepping
is in Westerhope 8s for now, though I'd like to try double stepping. Don't
lock!
9) Back Over Lock: Immediately into walk around for 8, then when back in
original positions turn out to the left and back lock on 4. Display in line
and step.
That's it!
Thank you,
Sinéad

Hello,
Last night we managed to get through a shortened version of Westerhope, to
be danced out on Friday. I've attached my notes on the dance; the order is
still subject to change, but you can read through the figures.
For Friday the dance will be:
Walk on in a line, step for 8
Walk around and Turn Out (single guard in order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Lock, step for 8, break out in walk around fashion
Coach and horses, immediately into Double Cramper (1, 2, 4, & 5 step while
3 walks around, 3 steps while the rest do a mini curly, repeat)
Lock, step, break
Coach and Horses, immediately into either Tipping Guard (3 moves forward,
jumps over 5's sword and tumbles), or Jigging Guard (like Stand in Guard,
but with no tumble)
Lock, step, break
Coach and horses, immediately into Right and Left (3x curleys, then 3x
figure of 8)
Walk around, Back Lock on 4, 1 takes lock & display in line, break the lock
Coach and Horses immediately into modified Fourth Corner (1 & 5 jump, then
3 jumps)
Lock
3 takes lock to display in line, step for 8 until 'out' is called, grin
widely in relief, march off after 8 bars as usual
Have a good week,
Sinéad
