Hi all, If the church finish by 7.30 we'll just start practice as normal but if we end up sitting in the pub for a while on Monday (sigh), I thought it would be a good chance to have that conversation about characters we never got round to next year. I know there's not much time to do any research (if that's what you were planning!) but here are a few things we can think through: 1) At the moment Sue is our 'main' Tommy. Hannorah does a brilliant job when Sue's not around and a few other people have had a go at introducing the team. Does anyone else want to try doing the job of being a Tommy? 2) When Hannorah Tommies instead of Sue she wears Sue's outfit and is a Hannorah version of the Beefeater character. Do we want everyone who takes on this role to have their own character and costume? If so, do you have any ideas about alternative characters which would fit the Tower Ravens theme? A ghost and various historical people have been suggested before. 3) Some teams have two characters at a time - a Tommy and a Betty. I don't think I've ever seen a female team do this, probably because the whole idea of characters traditionally plays on gender. Would we want to try having two characters at the same time? Do we have enough people willing and available to do this? If we do, what should the characters be? Does it matter that we wouldn't have a man dressed as a woman as one of the characters? Also, I'm hoping to sort everything out in terms of who will be in which sets for DERT this weekend so we can discuss that in the pub before practice as well. Sorry for not having done this sooner but Becky has already approached the church to ask about the principle of having extra practices at weekends so hopefully we can get these all sorted soon.
