Hi All,
Here's your shiny update for the week.
1. Burns Night
2. Day practice dates
3. DERT - spare train ticket anyone?
4. Sign-ups
*1. Burns Night *Ceilidh on Friday in the London Welsh Centre. Please be
there ready to dance by 2030 at the latest - our spot will be at 9 and we
don't really have many spare dancers... Raffle and coin rolling in the 10pm
break. Thank you to the door volunteers (Miriam, Hannorah and Sue - I'll
probably help out too so we can share it between us) - if you could be
there at 1915 as doors are at 1930. If anyone fancies helping out with
decorating, feel free to come early as well.
*2. Day practice dates *have changed. Piccadilly will now be on 2nd Feb
(not 8th) in 33 Oval Road, NW1 7EA. Westerhope will now be on 8th Feb (not
15th) in the usual hall.
*3. DERT *- We have a *spare ticket on the 1803 to DERT* if anyone wants it
and hasn't booked - need to have either 16-25 or 26-30 railcard. Let me
know if you want it! Trains home still can't be booked, but am keeping my
eyes peeled...
There is a spare ticket for evening, but think Jo wants this. However
evening tickets should be released soon should anyone want to bring someone
that they haven't previously mentioned.
*4. Sign-ups* After Friday we have nothing in our calendars. it would be a
real shame to get to the end of the year and to have not really done much
beyond crawls. However, we can't go to anything unless you sign up to
things. I know it is a quieter year having done basically all the major
festivals over the last two years, but there are still things that would be
fun to do. So pleas actually fill in the sign up sheet.
The things I think we would probably enjoy most as a team (and there are
probably others) on there are the following.
- 27th June St Albans Folk Festival - dancing in the pubs and potentially
joining the mass dance if we want to. About 20min fast train from St Pancras
- 10th-12th July Priddy Folk Festival - daytime dance spots, Saturday night
ceilidh spot. Priddy is south of Bristol in the Mendips - about 4hrs away
by public transport. Sounds like a nice festival. (Gus from Northgate
invited us)
- 5th September London Folk Festival in C# House, probably day time.
In other news confirming the St Patricks day stuff is pretty much up to us
on timings and how much dancing we do, so we could investigate lining this
up with either a bit of a crawl or visiting some of the greeneking pubs
that the guy on the crawl invited us to as well. Though i would rather get
a feel for what people would do before organising a whole load of stuff.
More info next week.
Richie's family (Fliss) have invited us to Thriplow Daffodil Festival 28/29
March (Gogs and Cambridge Morris Men usually go), this is the weekend
before DERT in case anyone was wondering. The nearest train station is
Foxton from where we might be able to organise some lifts. There are some
indoor places we can dance or join in with the Morris teams outdoors. Could
just do a day.
Thanks,
Hannah
