The plan is:
Friday night SS will base themselves at The Rutland Arms and wait for us all to arrive. It's five minutes walk from the station (map attached), and there is parking nearby too. They will also come and find people if necessary! Accommodation is distributed between a few of us so we'll sort out who's going where once we're all gathered.
On Saturday they have a table booked for 10:30am at The York, where they do really nice breakfast/brunch. This is a good place for people to come and find us, the Tommy has offered to do car runs and they can give directions too.
Aim is to start crawling from around lunchtime-ish (once everyone's arrived of course!) finishing up at Shakespeares Sheffield (aka best pub in the world) there is a gin festival going on!!
Sunday morning the upstairs room at Shakespeares is available (where we often practice) so we can gather there and hang out/mess around with swords/eat snacks (we're good at a picnic buffet...) until people head off.

Hello all,
Also for Monday please consider if you're going to be in Sheffield by 10.30ish what food you would like from this menu (brekky/brunch)

Apologies that some people will miss out on this because I said arrive for midday, this bit of the invite info got to me last night!
They need to know asap so if you will be there then have decided by Monday so I can send them a list- this is because there are a lot of us it makes it much easier on the place when we descend.
I have more details which I'll talk about on Monday and send in an email when I have a little more time.
Cheers B xx

Hello all,
1. So if you weren't there..the open practice was rather unsuccessful as no new people showed up! So we want to try again next month on the SECOND Monday (the 9th). Sinead we thought we could plug this to the Folk Soc people as something they can come to especially. WE want to plug this more in advance (although right now is still quite early). Laura S. ideally you could do us a flyer to have out at the uni and C#? If you don't have time please can you allocate it to someone else?
2. Sheffield- so this is fast approaching and next weeks' practice will be in prep for dancing out. As Katherine said if you are going to Sheffield please try and ensure that you come to this practice! I now know everyone's plans for staying over apart from Jo (apologies if I've forgotten) do you need Friday and Saturday or just Saturday?
3. Please think about this months crawl, 29th October- please see the signup sheet!https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8j…
Thanks all,
Becky

If(not interested in music workshop)
{ stop reading (); }
So after definitely not leaving it to the last minute, here is a set of
tunes to learn for the workshop.
Rakes of Kildare
https://thesession.org/tunes/84
Connaughtman's Rambles
https://thesession.org/tunes/19
Cu Roi
https://thesession.org/tunes/6429
These can be played as a set, but be warned it's at least 2/3rds rapper
cliché.
We won't play to dance speed for the workshop, so don't worry too much, but
it's a good thing to aim for. Our dance speed is around 135bpm.
If anyone has a particular music topic they want included in the workshop
thing, be sure to send me a message.

Hello all,
Apologies for the rather slow writing up of the minutes. Please find attached minutes and my report. Sue I don't know if your report can be uploaded or emailed to the team for those who weren't there?
I have a variety of emails I need to send to people as a result of decision made, I've put a brief summary of things certain people need to do too:
Ffion- doodle poll for music practice and email me re. zone 9ers email?
Nikki - definitive decision on tunes you'd like people to prepare for the music practice. This could be done before date decided, I for one need all the help I can get!
Sinead - please e-mail us more information on what is wanted by the King's College Folk Society? We weren't quite sure what they were looking for and therefore if any of us could be any help.
Kate/Team - to request sashes/any kit that isn't being used by member who, for whatever reason, cannot be here regularly therefore to be returned to team for general use.
Trad leader - modifications to be made to trad, kit
Katherine/Team - modifications to be made to Piccadilly dance
Team - Date and who to invite on Day of Dance (in April) to be decided and invited by Christmas. - Decide on which charity we want to give to from our Christmas crawl - Consider any links we have to festivals/organisers, can we make use of these to get to any? - Please tell Katherine if you are happy helping in practice- teaching, leading stepping etc. - Offer to collect on crawls! The faster we get out after dancing the more money we make - Keep an eye out for blue sparkly material :)
I think that is generally everything, please shout up if I've missed anything!
See you tomorrow for mega step evening...

I am aware several people mentioned they were not able to come to tonight's
practice so just to check I am expecting:
Becky, Ffion, Hannah, Hannorah, Janet, Laura S, Nikki and Sue
Please let me know if you won't be there.
Also, next weeks practice is the last one before Sheffield, if you are
coming to Sheffield please try to make this practice.
See y'all tonight

Hi all,
I made it to the KCL Freshers' Ceilidh last night- it was small but fun. Joseph Symons-Smyth is the one organising workshops. He's most interested in dance- especially rapper and morris. In an ideal world they'd like to find someone who can help weekly or fortnightly, but one off workshops are also welcome. Other members of the society are interested in story telling and they run a weekly session, so if you know anyone who'd like to run a workshop in a vaguely folk related area contacting KCL Folk Society on facebook or emailing kclfolksoc(a)gmail.com is the way to get in touch.
My friend Peter went to UCL's ceilidh in the quad and said it was packed, incidentally. A performance spot there might be a good recruiting technique.
To clear up the confusing 'dropping kit off' logistics: I get the train into Cannon street 10-10.30ish and can drop nearby, walk to Bank, spend the day in Chancery Lane and then walk towards Holborn at 4.30ish and up towards UCL. I'll be doing this every Monday and Thursday. If none of that is convenient I'm happy to post it to someone.
Good luck with the open practice!Sinéad
