Hi all
Next Monday the Trefusis room, with mirrors, at Cecil Sharp House is currently free and we can use it (many thanks Laura!). Therefore I would like to move next weeks practice to Cecil Sharp in Camden, please let me know if this is a problem.
Also if they get a paid booking we won't be able to use it so please keep an eye on your emails just incase we have to make a last minute change.
See most of you on Sunday,
Kx
P.S
- don't forget to practice stepping, especially left foot doubles
- if you would like to watch popcorn again for inspiration here is candy rapper doing it (2:55 min) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=74hFA7-xryY
Please see the message below.

Our specialist healthcare, training and employment teams are dedicated to helping homeless people recover from their experiences and really turn their lives around for good. Last year our Skills and Employment team supported over 2,400 people in London and 300 people in Bristol, helping more than 200 people into jobs. Hi all
1. Crawl videos
2. Next crawl
3. Practice with mirrors
*4. Plan for Monday *
1. Below is a link to a playlist of crawl videos. There are lots of good
thing and also lots of things we can improve on. I've got points that each
of us need to work on but please give them a watch and see what you notice.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEwHpg0yfmglSHOTg7aUDPkBiNtQXaNx6
2. I am organising the crawl on 18th Feb, I am planning to organise it
around Whitechapel as that is close to where I am currently working and we
rarely go east (I was originally going to do Kings X but we go there lots).
3. I am hoping to organise a special practice with full length mirror so we
can see ourselves while practising. I have found somewhere quite cheap in
Camden with a hardwood floor and mirrors, I will keep you updated.
4. The plan for Monday is as follows
- Stepping - practice our different steps in the context of the various
displays we do
- Style video - I want to explain why and what we are aiming for
- Work on popcorn, the straight line and locks
- Westerhope (time allowing)
Have a nice weekend and see y'all on Monday :)

Hi
As the tube strike looks like it will definitely go ahead I will have to
cancel practice.
I would really like to try to arrange another practice,
Are you available THRUSDAY 11th instead?
Please let me know either way.
Thanks
Katherine
Hello gang,
Thanks so much to all those who came today and helped with the Westerhope practice (Hannah - please pass on thanks to Martin). We've made massive progress and it's starting to look pretty impressive :D
I think with a few more practices we will have it down well.
I've typed up some notes from today from what we decided / figured out. There may be a couple of errors...
See you tomorrow!

Sorry everyone. Becky has reminded me that we decided to subsidise accommodation for DERT, so we need £30 from everyone, not £60.
If you'd like to pay in 2 or 3 monthly instalments, that will be fine, but please message me to let me know.
Cheers

Hello all,
1. Signup sheet2. Shoes3. DERT accommodation4. EGM (for discussion re. getting debit card) please consider Sue's email re this!5. Monday's practice, possible tube strike- poll to fill in!6. EGM for 21st March
1. Please look at the signup sheet for the new event 18th June when EFDSS are reopening the Kennedy Hall at C# House, there will be a ceilidh with need of various dance spots filling, sounds like quite a big do and would be good to be involved. St Albans is on the same day, if you can do one but don't want to commit to both please sign up to both and put preference so we can see what people want to do.
Please also consider summer events that Katherine put on ages ago, we need to start saying yes or no to things/at least making plans!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11XHQc6j0g7HQto7rhOs6k0bfkw-XmFb8jmCeRa4…
2. If anyone needs new shoes Hannah's seem to be as good a match as we can get so please email Katherine for details.
3. Sue will be emailing any day now (sorry for public reminder!) re. accommodation money for DERT, please pay her as promptly as possible, it should be around £30 but she'll give exact amount.
4. Currently there is a brief EGM called for practice of 22nd of Feb to discuss change to constitution to enable us to get a debit card. If this turns into more than a simple agreement we will postpone this to the EGM proper post-DERT. Sue has emailed the particulars of the changes, please read over these and email her if you have any issues.
5. Please note there are discussions for a tube strike this weekend ending 9 on Monday. It may not happen but if it does please fill in the following poll if you could make it anyway: http://doodle.com/poll/mgg3gvfttqhmahmb#tableFor example I can get a bus home from there so will be able to make it.
6. Finally I call an EGM for 21st March allowing for discussion of DERT and how we want the team to progress over the summer. This is normally more relaxed than the AGM as there are no nominations (unless someone stands down) and is accompanied by cake and treats to celebrate how much work we put into DERT and how splendid we are :)
Thanks all,
Becky

Hi all
I'm really sorry I meant to send this all out last week but got waylaid
with work, please accept my apology.
Attached is the notation and timings for Piccadilly, if there is something
you think is wrong or we need to change please let me know. There is also a
couple of points on things I think we need to work on which I will update
as time passes and suggestions are made.
We have lots of committed, good dancers in the team and therefore picking 5
for the DERT set has not been an easy decision however I have chosen who I
think are the strongest steppers with the best sword handling and style.
I would like the main DERT set to be: Ffion, Laura W, Becky, Laura S,
Katherine
Westerhope set: Laura S, Jo, Hannah, Kate, Rachel
Reserve Piccadilly set is Rachel/Jo Becky Hannah Jo Kate, this should leave
us with someone to fill in at each position. Also, if the people in the
reserve set come to the day practice 14th Feb and at least one of the
crawls before DERT then I would really like them to dance in the spotlight
at DERT. With this in mind my general day practice plans are:
14th Feb will be practicing with the different reserves, confidently
getting through the dance and generally neatening it up.
21st Feb will focus more on the main set and precision.
We have a great opportunity over the next few weeks to do some really solid
practice on Piccadilly and develop the Ravens style, for DERT but also for
our day of dance and everything else we are hoping to perform at this year!
See you soon
Kx
